So... Id hate to be the barer of bad news - the popcorn isnt free. Its a dollar for the bowl but after that its free refills. Just wanted to clarify that since the waiter told us the after we heard it was free. Theres a ton of activity here and theres no possible was to get bored unless youre the type to not participate in anything. Darts are $1 and you gotta give them your I.D. to exchange for darts (but of course they give it back after your game). A nice pool table in the back and a ton of board games to play. I liked the layout of the bar and each segment of the activity rooms. Theres a room for their trivia night, tables near the darts, a large area for drinking and board games, and a room in back for the billiard. Cash only however they do have an ATM. Nice selection of brews and a pretty cool staff. Id definitley drop by again.

Other people have mentioned “Board Games Galore” so we were really surprised at the pitiful selection there. Chess, checkers, connect four-- that was literally it, and we got there right at opening, so it’s not like other people were using the games. The bartender was very welcoming, and the regular crowd (we surmised from them being on a first-name basis with the waiter and each other) was definitely entertaining and open. They have lots of dart boards, and its $1 for darts There is salt available for the bottomless popcorn, but no butter for those of us who like clogging up our arteries. Soft drinks/root beer were expensive, but I’m guessing that’s not a problem for too many people. They had Arbita root beer in a bottle, which was pretty good.

An excellent bar for beer and board games. I am not particularly good at pool or darts, but those are popular options as well. Many of the popular board games of the past are kept behind the bar and can be checked out. The Albatross has some large tables so if your gaming group is looking for a place to drink and play large and loud games like Avalon or Secret Hitler, it is a great option. The beer choices are great, with a few excellent options always on tap, others rotating seasonally. There is a cover charge on nights with live music and credit cards are not accepted but there is an ATM available.

I went here with 6 friends on a Saturday night. We found parking right outside and walked in around 11ish. It was crowded inside, but we were still able to find an good-sized table. We ended up playing Scattegories non-stop for 2 hours. Chill, fun, engaging! To borrow the board games you have to let the bar hold your ID. Be careful -- I almost forgot my ID at the end of the night. They had a live band which was okay but too loud. The 3-dollar cover for the music was a bit of a bummer. For drinks, most of us had Boddingtons daught, which was excellent. Next time Id want to try darts.

Albatross is a great place to catch up, hangout, and play board games (e.g. scrabble, dominos, chess, connect four, etc.) or dart with your friends. The music is not loud and the inside is bright with a warm and inviting decoration. They have around 10-15 beers on tap, and a lot of varieties of bottled beer. They also have a great selection of cocktails, that are fairly priced. Most of the bartenders here are friendly and helpful. You can also get unlimited popcorn for only $1!! The only downside is that they are cash only.

Great drink selection and our bartender was hands down the best. A dive bar that doesnt seem like a dive bar. I cant explain this place any other way. My best friend has been raving about this place since she moved to the bay area and I finally went to check it out. Our bartender made the perfect gin gimlet, kicked a drunken guy out of our table and really the bar. Sorry I didnt get her name. Cant wait to get back to the area for another trip to this place!!!

A great place to hang out and drink. I went to this pub on a Thursday night around 9pm. Pros: BOARD GAMES - they have a bunch of board games for people to play Good drinks for cheap - Im use to drinking in SF so Berkeley seems cheaper Chill ambiance Good for groups Serves food Cons: There was this couple across from me and my friend who would blatantly make out/ sit on each others lap In general it was a younger adult college crowd.

Albatross is a cozy pub meant for just hanging out. To solidify that, they feature a vast selection of board games: chess, checkers, scrabble, etc. They also have several alleys for darts. Its definitely a great place to go if you want a relaxed evening out or just cant think of anything in particular to do. Where else can you go to get a couple pints and plow through a dozen rounds of Boggle?

This bar is really crowded Friday-Sat, so plan accordingly. Okay so review : I really want to like this place and theres nothing "wrong" with it per say but its just kind of boring. The ambiance of the space itself reminds me of a family pub or something, but the crowd is very loud and very college ish. Its too crowded to be so basic, basically

Good drink selection, love the cheap popcorn, and love the ambience of the place (along with the games), BUT can get really crowded and with a bunch of younger folk. Dont get me wrong, in my college days I couldve killed for a place like this, but these days I could do without a dedicated bouncer carding everyone. Come here when its slower I say.

Classic spot. Great for playing darts and board games. Solid beer selection. Lots of space. Great for getting a big group together or hanging out in a small group. Gets a little loud in the late evening, but its just because its a popular spot. More the grad student scene than the undergrad scene at Berkeley.

Fun Place. Cheaper beer. Games are free. 1 dollar for darts rental, free if you bring your own. 1 dollar all you can eat popcorn. Just happy that I do not need to pay extra just to play games. I know some bars charge a dollar per round of pool. But some charge 10 dollars an hour without advertising it.

Classic Berkeley pub. Easily one of the best bars in the East Bay if youre looking for a place to talk with friends, play games, and just generally hang out. Very unpretentious, cozy atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the beer selection is huge. Plenty of free street parking in the area.

The tap selection was "ok", the selection of bottled beers is fantastic (but a little expensive - especially if you like belgians). 3 stars because they only accept cash which is a hassle - you have to use their atm (which costs more money) if you dont have cash. Nice ambiance though

This place was a lot of fun considering the price we paid. We were able to get unlimited popcorn for a dollar. Darts, for a dollar. Our beers were only 5 dollars. If you just want to chill and play darts or pool, this seems like a great place to do it. They have trivia nights too!

I had been wanting to check this pub out for a while and finally got the chance the other night. I dont even know where to begin. They have a great selection of beer, board games, a pool table, multiple dart boards, and a cozy area by a fire. What more could you want in a bar?
