We stopped at Magnolia during the Dogpatch Tasting Tour and I was really surprised. I frequent the flagship gastropub in the Haight, but didnt know they had opened another location in Dogpatch. The place was vibrant and packed for a Saturday afternoon, which is always a good sign. The rustic metal meets wood look of the bar and brewing area makes it a very comforting and relaxing place to be. Since he had lots of tastings earlier in the day, we got to try more food at Magnolia. Their smoked brisket and pulled pork are delicious, but what really blew me away was the chili. I normally dont like beans, but the chili was delicious! They have three main BBQ sauces, all of which are really delicious.

Very cool place for a casual drink, some good BBQ food or to just sit, sip and chat. The decor inside is extremely cool. The atmosphere is perfect for sitting in groups and chatting the day away over some fabulous beer or whiskey. The bar staff are great and really helped with the selection as there is a huge variety of beer. The food looks great but I have to say I was slightly let down by the beef ribs as they were waaaaayyyy too fatty but apart from that the food was really good bbq and its very fresh. The views into the kitchen really give a great insight into how its all prepped and cooked. All in all a great experience and a place well worth visiting.

I only tried two of the beers (the Cole Porter and the Proving Grounds IPA). Both were good and understated. I like my IPAs a bit more subtle and this hit the mark. The BBQ was also quite good, though they would out of many of the items we tried to order, and got several of the orders wrong. The deli style ordering is a bit hectic, and I think theyd be better served changing this. Ambiance wise, the place was really cool. It is old west saloon meets brooklyn style warehouse bar, and it combines these well. Recommend if you plan on hitting it up as part of a brewery crawl.

Really awesome spot to grab some custom locally brewed beer and bbq! The interiors were really nice! They have picnic style seating so you can fit in really large groups! They have an outdoor space in the delivery area where there is a bar as well! They also make cocktails, which is pretty good as well! The staff are really nice, and relatively quick to serve you! Pro-tip: If there is a long line at the bar and all you want is a beer, they have 3 beers available for purchase at the food area! Ill definitely be coming back here

Since when does a combination of beer and BBQ ever go wrong? Never really. This is a great place to come to early to grab a few brews and a pound (or so) of BBQ. You can order beer from the bar (Magnolia) or from the BBQ counter (Magnolia + others). Im not really a huge fan of the beer or the BBQ here, but the convenience trumps all. Its communal seating so be prepared for some anxiety during busy times.

If you crave bbq, this place will satisfy you. I you love whiskey, they have shelves of choices. If youre a craft beer fanatic like I am, this place has some hoppy beers for you. Its difficult to find the place because they have no street signage. Parking is also difficult as expected in downtown SF. They have growlers but no bottled or canned beers yet.

A paradisic oasis: A very big and well stocked bar, reasonably priced and smartly served. Fantastic looking and tasting barbecue items well worth the price, desserts. Dave McLean has prospered, thankfully, and the new digs are splendid. Big room, long communal tables, lively vibe, larger brewery with a beautiful archive. A new favorite place.

The BBQ is really good, albeit overpriced. All food comes with 2 small biscuits, and the tables have 3 types of really good sauces for the meat dishes, The beer selection si great and some of them are made there. The restaurant also has a really cool, antique vibe. I love coming here after climbing at nearbye dogpatch boulders.

This was a really great place to hang out with friends and try a variety of beers. Its a large space so its good for large groups. They also have very helpful bartenders who know a lot about the beer that they brew there. I got to do some tastings in order to decide on my drink. I would definitely recommend this place.

Non-denominational BBQ and beer hall with a whiskey bar? Who knew such magical combinations exist. Come with a group of friends or a date, and relax in the steam-punk western ambiance that transports you out of the city to make you almost forget how broke you are. Try the beef brisket, their staple dish.

Want a cool place to have a few drinks or beers and tasty BBQ? This is the place to go. Its in Dogpatch, which is a cool spot to hangout and walk around for a bit too. The place has huge long tables so you might end up setting next to people you dont know. Dont be scared to make new friends.

The beer selection is not the best (during my visit anyway), but this is definitely a hidden gem with a great selection of cocktails. On the food end, the BBQ menu is fantastic. Definitely worth a visit and a return. Try the Heavy Landed cocktail, it will be a pleasant surprise.

Worth taking the time to recommend. The smoked meats were great. The sauces and sides were decent but didnt hold up to the meat selection or flavors. The atmosphere and bar were top notch. A great place to relax and eat good food. Solid food, good beer, great atmosphere.

Really expensive. Though the place was not crowded, i sat ignored at the bar for ten minutes before deciding to leave. CRITICALLY important to note that there is no magnolia branding at all, so you will have trouble finding this place if you dont know it is called "smokestack"

Love this place! The visual esthetics and space design was so well done, magnolias dogpatch is one of the more beautiful bars San Fran has to offer. The bbq is quite good and sides are delish! You can even get a hog skull for $10! Great beer and whisky selection too!

Craft beer lovers paradise Great prices for great beer Awesome staff Un freaking believable quality food Spacious seating and bar Perfect lighting, sound, and interior finishes. I would argue that this place sets the standard for San Francisco brew pubs.

I feel like IPA is the summer beer this year, and Magnolia Brewing Company has a great one. Its light with an amber body, with a sweet kick to it. I would recommend that or their stout beer which is also really refreshing, but definitely much more thick.

Great though not cheap BBQ (especially brisket burnt ends, smoked chicken, chopped pork). Excellent range of British-style beers (milds and bitters, some on cask), amaro selection, nice open space that feels bustling/alive but not crowded. And no TVs!

They have probably15 beers and four on cask but I am not sure if they have any good beers. Of all the beers I had there I wouldnt classify any of them as memorable. The share the spot with a BBQ place, the food smelled awesome!

Beer AND BBQ? Yes, a gotta try. 20 beers/ciders on tap so youre gonna find something you like. Pluswhisky. BBQ so spicy, cant say how the beer tasted, but went down smoothly. Very friendly with the "family style" seating.
