Happy hour EVERYDAY from 3:30-7:30? I love places with happy hour on the weekends.. or even better, on the daily! Just a short walk away from the hustle & bustle of downtown/Union Square. Gets really crowded on weeknights but wasnt too bad on a Sunday evening. Super cute (small, but cozy) front patio area - with heat lamp! Nice wooden/casual indoor seating as well. Not too loud or quiet (at least on the day I went!! I did try to come for a weekday HH once and it was CRACKIN!) $10 beer sampler, $18 wine sampler (Its actually ALOT of wine (I had the beer). Pretty good deal! Enough to get slightly tipsy and you get to try a variety of beers. My favorite was a white ale.. forgot what brand it was :x. We got the soft pretzel ($5 HH price) which was slightly small but really good - soft and chewy and came with cheese and mustard sauce. If it was $3-4 itd be more fair, but eh. Also ended up getting the curried popcorn ($5) which is definitely better for drunchies and sharing.. and more worth it than the pretzel. YOU MUST GET THIS! Every kernel is covered with the curry flavoring :) NOM NOM NOM. Servers are super nice and attentive!! Hearrrrrrrrrrrt. PB2 sandwich was just ok.. I felt like all the ingredients didnt go that great together and the bread was just so so to me. Also got the nacho grilled cheese another time, and this was just OK as well. Wish the sandwich came hotter (for meltier cheese!) DO get the mashed potato tots though. These are more like Portos potato balls but BETTER..... (more fried and crispy) and YES, get the bacon jam.

Went with my wife for a late lunch on Sunday. Ambiance: Inviting. The service was very good, though there were only 6 people there. Our server was very nice and was asking us for feedback on the food, which I appreciated. Food: Satisfying. Not in a neutral way, but in a positive way. It was very comforting (Meatloaf sammy) and delicious. I would go back to try other menu items based on the food. However, the fries were on the salty side, even for a salt lover like me, so beware if you prefer less salt. Drinks: Had their stout, which tasted awesome, but overpriced because of how little you get. Luckily, I had an empty stomach so its 11% Alc made me smile after I finished a jar full. Dessert: They only had one thing, which was the Basil Cheesecake. I would have loved to try their Ice Cream Sammy. Oh well. The cheesecake was interestingly good. I would have preferred a cookier crust, but the overall taste was spot on. You wouldnt think basil belongs in a cheesecake, but Jamber has proven it can work. Overall: Ill go back, for sure. Ill make it a regular stop if my second visit is even better.

Went here to meet up with a friend for some much needed girl talk. Ive heard good things about Jamber, and their menu items looked good and decently priced. I ordered a wine sampler during happy hour, which was $16, $4 off the regular price. I got to sample four wines, which were around 3-4 ounces each. What I like is that the name of the wine is on the coaster, so I knew exactly what I was drinking and can take notes on it if I wanted to. Plus, its a good deal, whether at the happy hour price or not, to check out the variety of wines they offer. I ordered a beet salad, which came with spinach, avocado, and walnuts. It was really good, and made me feel less guilty sharing fries with my friend. Which, by the way, was $4 and very abundant. The wait staff were really friendly, and didnt rush me as it got crowded. I was worried Id have to give up the seat I was saving for my friend, but I didnt. The atmosphere is dark and loud, a perfect place to unwind after a hard days work. Id like to come back and try other items on the menu, especially the poutine.

Place is alright. Waited an hour for a table of 6 on a Friday night. Somehow the upstairs seating wasnt open even with a room full of people waiting downstairs. Then they skipped seating us even though we were standing right in front of the waitlist board. Granted, they were busy and once they realized their error, they honored HH prices on our wine flight. Ordered: Mashed potato tots w/bacon jam- Good for sharing, fills you up easily. The bacon jam was a bit off, I cant put my finger on it.The tot itself was a bit dry and not as flavorful as Id imagine. Not on HH menu. Fish & chips- Fried to a nice golden brown and the fish wasnt dry, but there wasnt much flavor to go on. Even dousing it in tartar and vinegar didnt help. Jamburger- Cooked to medium, as specified. Decent burger - juicy meat and fresh buns. All in all, not the best food Ive ever had, also not the worst. With all the other options out there, probably wont be back.

Jamber has to be one of the best gastropubs ever. Delicious cold fries. Need I say any more? I went with a group of four and our experience was excellent. Our server was really attentive despite the fact that we kept telling him to come back later since our conversation kept distracting us from the menu. We tried fish and chips and the house sodas. Fish was coated perfectly in a well seasoned beer batter. The cod was firm and much less oily than Ive had (even in the UK)--which is a huge plus. My hibiscus lime house-made soda was also tasty. Tart and just sweet enough. Prices were quite affordable. Also, my friend needed to catch Caltrain in 25 minutes and the waiter accommodated our last minute orders in time for her to run to the station. Glad to see that more food options are popping up in the once bland SOMA food scene. Definitely plan to try their desserts and drinks next time.

Jambers got a very serious collection of beer on tap and wine here. Take advantage of the wine or beer flight to sample the seasonal options. I fell in love with a honey basil ale that I tried in a flight. For food, highly recommend the mashed potater (their spelling haha) tots and bacon jam. Sink your teeth in that crunchy exterior and disappear into a fluffy, creamy, and pillowy potato filling. You can choose cranberry jam on the side and that would be a good choice. But order bacon jam because its the RIGHT choice. Other comfort foods Id recommend are the mozzarella sticks and poutine. In the summer, its nice to grab a seat on their small outdoor patio right in front of the bar. Theyll even let you play games here. Overall a warm, casual, low stress, and low frills (though admittedly on the hipster side, heh) place for drinks and savory snacks to split with friends.

Pretty cool space in the neighborhood for some wine, beer, and food. [+] Wine ($20) or beer ($12) tasting is 4 glasses of your choice [+] Beer tasting comes w/ nice cork coasters labeled with the beer type/brand [+] Happy hour means $2 off wine/beer tastings, fried mozzarella, and pretzel [+] Buffalo meatloaf sammy ($13) is tasty and HUGE! I had to stretch my mouth quite a bit to take a bite [+] Meatloaf sammy comes w/ house fries or a salad [+/-] Chicken pot pie was good but not quite my cup of tea. I thought I wanted pot pie but when I started eating some, I went back to my meatloaf sammy soon after, haha [+] That means the meatloaf sammy is worth another plus sign Great spot! Its just a bit out of the way unless you work nearby.
