I lived in the city five years ago and loved 21st. The food was great, service was attentive, and the beer to die for. To say theyve slipped is an understatement. The beer is still amazing, but service and food quality was awful. They were busy, and I understand that can be tough, but hearing, "what do you want?", as the initial greeting from the hostess is unacceptable. All of the wait staff looked like they just rolled out of bed. The only thing that set them apart from a patron was their apron. I felt as my being there was an inconvenience to the staff. The cherry on top was my terrible, over priced Cubano. $13 for a bland grilled sandwich that was cold in the middle, the cheese wasnt melted at all, the predominant flavor was yellow mustard, and the moisture less roasted pork didnt have any flavor. It came with frozen french fries and an oily under dressed side salad. The beer was great (the only reason why I gave 2 stars), but not enough for me to go back. Theres a hundred different places with great beer, good food, and staff thats happy to have me.

If they had a 3.5 star rating they would get that. The food was very good. I tried the au gratin potato pizza (it was made with a spent grain crust, house made bechamel sauce with shredded cheese, thin sliced baby reds, bacon, and wilted greens) and the fish and chips. The pizza was good but felt like it was missing something and the fish and chips tasted more like what I would get in Washington State. The beer batter that they used was very tasty but was not the normal for fish and chips in the SFO area. The beers were very good. I tried the watermelon wheat and the enjoy porter. The wheat was easy to drink and slightly sweet from the watermelon. The porter had a great aroma and invites you to smell once more before taking a drink. The porter wasnt overly roasty which made it easy to drink. Overall I would go back and would recommend any craft beer fan to go but I would make sure to remember $6 pints and $12-$15 average prices for eating and drinking there

This little gem is only a few blocks from ATT park and a five minute walk from my house. So when my parents came to visit we decided to give it a try for brunch/lunch. We walked right in and were seated immediately. My girlfriend and I were a little disappointed at the brunch menu only being a list of four items on a chalkboard, because online they talked it up like it was a big deal. We passed on brunch and got lunch and some beers instead. The food was tasty, I got a chicken sandwich and a Gigantes IPA. It was smooth with a hint of bitter notes at the end. My parents ended up with cheeseburgers that they said were delicious. They also had the watermelon wheat which came with a slice of watermelon on the glass. It was a very tasty light beer. Girls and beginning beer drinkers would definitely enjoy a few pints. The fries at this place are delicious! I will be returning soon!

Stopped down at the 21st for dinner one night and had a great time. The restaurant is nice and open with a bar in the front of the establishment. The food options were great and the steak I had was killer. Beer choices were great. I enjoyed a number of them. The IPA and stout were my favorites. Moved to the bar where I talked with the bartender who knew a lot about all the beers and what goes into making them all. Very knowledgeable guy. I spent the rest of the night talking with the regulars who were a friendly crowd (how can you not be with beer as good as this?!) and putting back a few pints (ok more then a few). I walk back and realized the Thirsty Bear is just a couple blocks away (had to stop for a pint there too). How great is that?! Cant wait to be back in a couple months. Great place for beer and food.

I could sound totally bias but I love the beer and this place is amazing. First the decor fits right in with the rest of the neighborhood. The food was great, had three different things off the menu nothing was horrible. Atmosphere was happening the place was packed full of people everyone seemed to just belong here. The staff were hard to pick out of the crowd I really wish they wore a 21st Amendment shirt that was unique only to staff. I accidentally another guest for some napkins. The beers they only serve their beers so if you dont like their beers do not come here and ask for a Miller Lite. Bottom line GO!

I really enjoyed this place. It has a great bustling vibe with two levels of seating areas. We chose to sit up on the upper level so we could peer down to the rest of the crowd. The upper level also has a bar for you to order from or the waitress comes by to take your order as well. The food was very tasty too, we ordered just some appetizers to go with our beer, and I have to say that the beer battered onion rings were delicious! I also loved the fact that it was set off the beaten path and so it was really easy to find parking, but being that its near the ball park, it might not be so easy on game days.

Maybe Im the only one not won over by this place, but its not much of an actual "brewery". Its definitely got more of a brewpub feel and is way too crowded all the time to be comfortable. Its close to the ballpark and a bit mainstream for a craft brewery in SF such that a lot of tourists visit and tie up all the tables. Their menu items arent spectacular, but their beers are a good lead in to what craft beers really are. As a bit of a beer snob, Im not entirely won over by their beers, but its palatable for the general public and a big step up from Bud/Miller/Coors.

I have pretty endless love for 21st Amendment. Great beers - locally made, varying from light to dark. Some of my favorites are the Brew Free or Die, Back in Black, and Bitter American. Decent food - not the best youve ever had, but pretty good for pub food, and reliable if nothing else. Full bar - when beer isnt good enough. Beer garden - for the three days a year SF is sunny. Friendly service, fun happy hours, awesome open space, clever name. This might be my favorite SF brewery. I definitely recommend stopping in. *UPDATE: no longer full bar. Sad face.

21st seems a little too squeaky clean, too polished, too contrived for a brewery. It felt more like a chain restaurant than the home of an authentic brewer. Their beers are solid though - the Hell or Highwatermelon brew seems to be the rite of passage that all must try at least once. The food was fresh but my tacos left me wanting in the flavortown department. The fried cheese curds were the best bite of the night with a wonderful breading. Id come back if I could sit at the bar with friends and have a couple beers, but it wont be a dinner destination for me.

I like this place just fine. Its a little far away and it gets super crazy during sporting events, so I dont make it out too often. I went the other day because my friends and I wanted some greasy food and good beers. The beers were good (duh, I should hope so) but I couldnt even finish my bloody mary (too much cheap vodka? weird mix? unsure) and our food was just so-so. We got some apps (wings & onion rings) which were great but my salad was incredibly lackluster. Take home message: come for beers and apps and forgo trying to be healthy.
