There are a lot of good things to say about this place. The three rolls I ordered (soft shell crab, caterpillar, California) were made with perfect rice and fresh ingredients, their edamame was steamed well and served at room temperature, the miso (which was white miso) was satisfying and simple, the dessert portions were large and more diverse than the website offered, and the atmosphere wasnt too overbearing like some places. There were only two minuses that I noticed, but they are understandable. There were only two waitresses in the whole restaurant which made service a little slow. They also werent very fluent in English, which is probably why they werent as eager to attend tables for drink refills etc. Their shy nature, Im guessing, is because they actually were Japanese, which was a nice change to the Korean run "Japanese" restaurants in Tucson. On the whole, it was a nice experience.

This place is one of the worst sushi places Ive ever eaten at and I eat sushi regularly. First, the selection is so limited it is amazing that it is called a sushi restaurant. I question the freshness of the fish since Ive had a few a stomach issues after dining here. Second, the service at this place is sorely lacking. The waitress acts like shes doing you a favor by bringing you food, and the sushi chef just glares at you when you walk in. Finally, the atmosphere looks like a dated tiki bar/ponderosa with its junky furniture and sad decor. Save your money and just get noodles and sushi at the whole foods nearby. At least there you wont get the snobby attitude. The employees should realize theyre a sushi restaurant in a mini-all...in the middle of the desert. Anyone with an attitude at such a pathetic restaurant should really needs to face reality.

I couldnt disagree more with reviewer Ann. My son has lived several years in Japan and feels this is one of the top two or three sushi restaurants in Tucson, and I agree. Anns advice to save money and just get sushi at Whole Foods is revealing. The sushi at Whole foods is typical of supermarket sushi and is mostly garbage. (WF also has brown rice sushi, ugh.) Unlike Whole Foods, the fish is much higher quality at Zona and each slice is thick and generous. WF sushi is mostly rice. I highly recommend Sushi Zona. (By the way, we knew the previous owner -who was a woman, not a man- and though I miss her, the new owner, who moved here from Chicago, is very nice.) It is true that they do not have as large a selection of dishes as places like Sachiko on Wilmot Road, but the sushi is of higher quality at Zona.

We used to go to Sushi Yukari for the good Japanese food. However, on one visit, after a few dishes, my son threw up on his way to bathroom. We told the waitress and apologized for the mess. When we went back to restaurant few weeks later, the owner told us we need to apologized to her and the sushi chef who cleaned up the mess for what happened last time. We couldnt believe it. We are sorry for what happened, but how will we be able to control his throw up? How will we know the throw up is not from their food? She even said "If you are not behaved, no service." What kind of behavior she expected from customers? Never mess up and clean up after yourself? We decided we will NEVER go back again.

Been here several times and I believe this is one of the finest sushi restaurant in Tucson. The environment is very clean and the staff are courteous. Their sashimi is fresh and served with traditional Japanses sushi rice. We ordered chirashi and Japanese beef curry. The chirashi bowl looks fantastic, the sashimi on the top is really fresh and the rice is also delicious. Recommen for fish lover. There are only very few places offer Japanese style curry in Tucson, and they do a great job. In general their food have a good portion. It is true that they are a bit pricy but it worth. Also, they have delicious green tea cheese cake!

I am a regular customer at Sushi Yukari and the folks there are very hard working, friendly, and courteous. The food is made to order, not prepared in advance like the dry, tasteless, quarter size slivers you get at the sushi buffets in town. Custom food orders takes time to prepare, and it is always worth the wait! The fish is fresh, not frozen, and the menu is unlike any in town. The restaurant is owned and run by japanese and the owner is always there to talk with. This is a unique, personal, dining experience that folks who appreciate quality and decorum will enjoy often as we do!

I was very happy with the food from this restaurant, I prefer the cooked dishes and my fiancé loves sashimi, neither of us were disappointed. They had many dishes that I have not seen in any other restaurants in Tucson. Everything we had was delicious, we ended up getting desert even though we were both quite full, it was worth it. Although we spent almost as much time deciding what to order as we did eating, there wasn’t much of a wait for the food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Japanese food.

The most extensive Japanese menu selection I have seen locally. The sushi and sashimi are incredibly fresh and the staff and owners are always friendly and helpful. Their rolls are plentiful. To the sad customer who shared her story about her son becoming ill at Sushi Yukari.... all I have to say is... you really should have cleaned your own sons mess up. Would you expect the staff to clean a diaper?? It is a restaurant, not a hospital.

This place doesnt have the cream-of-the-crop sushi, but it does have quality ingredients, great service, and great people. I really really liked this place today. I had one of the Lunch Boxs and it was excellent. There was Vegetable Tempura, Seaweed Salad, Ginger Salad, some type of fermented/pickled vegetables, orange slices, adamames and miso soup. I highly recommend this place.

I really love coming here. They always have a great selection of sushi and Japanese dishes that are traditional and comforting like broiled fish, curry, ramen, and dons. The staff is always above and beyond nice, and it puts a smile on my face with how much they appreciate their customers. If you havent tried them yet you definitely should.

Yukari Sushi used to have an absolutely fantastic menu with items that cant be found outside of Japan. It towered above any other Japanese restaurant in Tucson-- or Arizona. The restaurant has changed hands. It is now just like every other Japanese restaurant in Tucson, only with a smaller menu. Its a terrible shame.

Excellent Sushi Terrible Waitress. Usually the service is excellent as well, but not tonight. Our waitress asked us if we wanted the check before she took our order... 30 mins later asked us again if we wanted the check before she brought our food, and was unaware that we hadnt gotten our food.

We love this restaurant! We lived in Japan for 6 years, and this is the most authentic I have seen. Everything we have tried has been perfect- my favorite is the bento box dinner- lots of food, but a taste of everything! We are so happy that we live close by!
