I do not understand how this place has such high reviews. Nothing about it was pleasant. Its uncomfortably small, the service was not good and the food was worse than mediocre. Starting off we were put into a small corner on stools that were way too high for the table, causing us to hunch over to eat which was really uncomfortable on our backs. Second, the waitress looked like she was headed to the strip club for her shift after serving us wearing a completely see through lace shirt. Third, the Google site says vegan options which is as far from the truth as possible. It barely has vegetarian options. I ordered cheese enchiladas with the mole negro and when I got my plate the plate itself was piping hot and the pre-made beans and rice were warm by the enchiladas were barely luke warm and the cheese inside wasnt even close to melted. When we waited 10 minutes for the waitress to come back with the bill I finally asked for it so we could get out of there. Another 5 minutes later and watching her cash out another table and we finally got it. I will never go back and be warned that the other reviews are complete crap and probably written by family and friends of the owners.

I have gone to the restaurant twice, once to sit down and once to take out. For what they offer I found the prices to be moderate, not overly high but not a super value either. The food was excellent, but the service by the waitress there was bitchy and I will keep that in mind for future meals. My sit down experience was good other than the fact they use a modified smartphone for credit card purchases and their software only allows you to tip at intervals of 15% 20% and 25%, which I found kind of cheeky but not overly bad. My take out experience was bad. I called at 7:30 and was told it would take 25 minutes for my order. I arrived, was recognized, was billed and paid for my order and was waiting. IT WAS NOT UNTIL I ASKED IF MY FOOD WAS COMING that they then told me ANOTHER 30 MINUTES. I leave and run some errands and come back 40 minutes later for my food and got it, though the waitress said "I thought you werent coming back". Before the comment at the end I was upset about the delay but that just really made me feel she had a bad attitude and that is why I am writing this review. Cheers.

Being in the neighborhood for going on 20 years, Ive seen many restaurants come and go in this high traffic locale. This is, by far, the most successful tenant yet. There can be no other reason why this place has survived... delicious food. If you choose the mole sauce, you wont be disappointed. I usually get the chicken enchiladas... choice of sauce. Verde? Awesome! Chicken is tender, fresh, and savory. Tomatoes, lettuce, avocados always fresh. The guacamole and chips are fantastic. Their desserts are great too. Beer and tequila available. This tiny gem is cute with colorful tables and large windows that bring lots of light in which makes this venue seem larger than it really is. Friendly wait staff too. Ive read a couple of negative reviews and I honestly dont know why. I patronize Quiote nearly every month and Ive never had an unpleasant experience. Give them a try. You wont be disappointed.

I ordered tacos through a delivery service. I did not know there would be cilantro on the tacos. I got the tacos, and there was a lot of cilantro. I cannot eat cilantro. I called to see if I could get different tacos, they said, nope, sorry our tacos come with cilantro, next time you have to ask for without cilantro. They didnt offer anything. So I paid $12 for two tacos I cant even eat and now Ill never go to their restaurant. Terrible customer service. And the food doesnt even look good... The taco shell is falling apart... Its ridiculous and a huge disappointment.

I have seen negative comments about this place here and on other restaurant review sites which confuse me. This is a very cozy family restaurant, and any wait staff issues would be from the timidness of the customer not asking simple questions. If the owners daughter or niece is working, they havent been given the corporate chain restaurant spiel and I actually like that. The food is fresh and great. Its not the La Fuente style which has its own meritand great for eating there or carry out.

The food is amazing! I strongly suggest any of their steak or pork dishes, theyre seasoned divinely. Chorizo is also good, but chicken dishes are nothing special. Portions and prices are good for the quality of food. I get take out frequently. The seating area is tiny, and can feel crowded, but on a slow night can feel intimate and cozy. I highly recommend the bistec con Rojas y queso, enchiladas, and tostadas. They have several other traditional dishes that are also quite good

Fast service . the food was pretty good . I ordered enchilada plate unfortunately you cant mix and match meats unless you want to pay $2 each. So I got the steak, it was cooked too well for me , if it had not been for this, itd have been perfect! Place is walking distance from me so Im sure I can just let them know next time ! Will be back

A very small cosy restaurant with limited seating. Our service was a bit slow. Two other tables that arrived after us got their food long before we did. The food was fresh, but my tacos were average. My wife really liked hers. They also have homemade desserts, the choco flan was great. Flan on top and chocolate cake on bottom, very moist.

This place is vastly underrated. & Ive eaten many meals from here, as its near my house. Very small, cozy, un-mega-corporate-chain. Ingredients are fresher than the typical milwaukee Latin restaurant. Highly recommended, just dont tell everybody, I dont want to have to start waiting 40 minutes to sit down/eat! LOL

We just moved to the area and cant justify going anywhere else! A small space, but the staff is always SO wonderful and the food just as great, they practically hand it to you from the kitchen since theres only 5 tables. Always hot, consistent and the margaritas are fresh squeezed! You cant go wrong!

The food and service was mediocre. The meat in the burrito was diced cubed pork, the inside was very dark (I guess because of the black beans) and the taste was very bland. The other tables around us were asked how was their food, we were just asked if we wanted to-go boxes. Dont waste your time.

They had just opened an hour prior and we asked for salsa, they said they were out. The cook (owner) angrily said "well then they will pay 99 cents if they want our other salsa!". (We had no issue with paying.) The waitress had a very bad attitude, and the owner had a crappy attitude.

Great little Mexican place - so hard to find authentic, good Mexican and this place has it. The fish tacos are delicious, the huarache is unique and good, the torta is the best sandwich ever. The owners cook and are great and this place is just terrific, full of character!

Such a great small place. Its authentic Mexican food, every time I get guacamole and a different entree and have loved each meal. The margaritas always hit the spot especially in summer. Its the best Mexican spot without having to go to the 5th ward.
