We came in around 1pm on Black Friday and got seated immediately by the very friendly head waitress. But soon after, a line built up. We ordered two fish and chips, one deep-fried calamari meal, and a guacamole platter as appetiser. It was a mistake for the three of us, for the appetiser includes a huge portion of french fries. All deep-fried entrées also include large portions of french fries and coleslaw. We couldnt finish all the food. So, all our foods are deep-fried. Let me say this: The fish pieces are good, but I do not like the batter and the frying. In fact, all deep-fried foods are disappointing at this beautifully decorated joint. Well, it may be a mistake not to order the fish taco of which they are famous. As I mentioned, a line built up soon after we were seated. Throughout the meal, it was very difficult to get attention of any waitress - of which there seemed to only have two. (They have a bar that has at least two bartenders.) Whereas the waitresses were warm and friendly, they just couldnt go around. And a couple times when a waitress promised to refill water but forgot afterward. In short, popular, good in decors, lag in food and service.

This is a little late (I visited the restaurant about three weeks ago), but if I say Im going to leave a review...I like to keep my word. One of my favorite things to do when on vacation is visit restaurants, and most of the time I am impressed by the food quality wherever I go. But Flying Fish surpassed my expectations in more ways than one. We had three at our table, and each of us ordered at a time when the servers and cooks seemed quite busy. I was therefore surprised when all of our dishes were set before us within 15 minutes of ordering! Their timing was incredible and, frankly, superior to any restaurant of such quality that I have visited. The food tasted fantastic, and the service of our waitress (her name is Maria, I believe) was phenomenal. We ordered dessert after dinner, but wanted a smaller portion of the ice cream that was on the menu. Our waitress made it work, finding a way to give us less and so spend less on dessert. Every part of the experience was wonderful. If I find myself in Half Moon Bay again, Ill have to make another stop at Flying Fish!

Was here this past Wednesday for dinner... I ordered 1 fish taco and fish & chips. Hubby ordered clam chowder, shrimp cocktail & crab Louie salad. The food was just okay, which is sad considering that I was excited to come to FF grill for the first time. PLUS theyve just moved to a new building. My husband has eaten here several times and was always suggesting that we go. I guess theyve raised their prices, perhaps due to their move? Anyhow, neither of us were impressed with the food. The service was good and all the staff were very sweet and attentive. Having brought our son, he got lots of attention and he enjoyed flirting with all the female wait staff! That was the highlight of our visit. Oh, but the most interesting part of our visit was watching a few homeless guys going into the cemetery to camp out for the night. Hows that for scenery??! My hubby also ordered a slice of their berry pie to take home. It was a little pathetic, broken piece of pie. Meh, not the best place to eat on the coast but perhaps its a better place to drink then eat??

Real crab cakes, great seafood, and personable service. This is definitely my favorite seafood restaurant in the San Francisco bay area! My boyfriend and I discovered this place half a year ago and it was very memorable. When we went back today, I was surprised to see that I didnt get to leave a review the first time! This review is long overdue! Service was excellent, even if the place was crowded. Our server, Teresa, was so wonderful and she was attentive to our requests. Her suggestions were spot on as well! The food was amazing. I was happy to taste real crab cakes, since most crab cakes I encounter are mostly bread and barely crab. Ordering their crab & prawn pesto linguine special was the best decision Ive made in weeks. My boyfriend ordered the Halibut special with garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. Even the wine Teresa recommended was excellent. We will definitely be back here whenever we crave for seafood!

This is not gourmet dinning but it is the kind of dinning I like. I often eat by myself and do so at the bar if the restaurant has one. This place has vintage Pan Am posters that hint at another time , another place, the South Pacific, the Hawaiian Islands. There is a little statue of a Hawaiian girl at the bar, the kind that would hand out flowers to new arrivals. Yea, Im a romantic! Its in Half Moon Bay and has access to the best seafood around. I have not sampled much yet *** but I can say that the Seafood Tacos were the best I ever had. I choose the Scallop Sea food Tacos which were only $5.75 for 2! Hard to believe but true. The bartenders in the 3 occasions that I have been there were friendly, informative and good conversationalists.

I read very positive reviews, so we decided to stop here for lunch. We are so glad we did! The clam chowder was phenomenal, and I also really enjoyed the garlic cheesy bread appetizer. My husband ordered the salmon BLT, which he tells me was good. I ordered the cod fish & chips. It was so fresh and tender, it was arguably one of the best fish & chips Ive had. The coleslaw was surprisingly excellent (usually colseslaw is just mediocre, but they give it some pizazz by adding pineapple and cranberry. YUM!!) We could barely have dinner later because we stuffed ourselves with this amazing meal. I will forever recommend this quaint place.

Jadąc z San Francisco trasa 1 warto ominąć zatłoczone miejsca przy plażach i zatrzymać się tutaj. Duży wybór i przepyszne dania z owocami morza. Polecamy coś w rodzaju gulaszu rybnego (małże, dorsz, przegrzebki, krewetki), pieczywo czosnkowe z krabem oraz tacos z wyborem ryby. Przemiła i pomocna obsługa!

We made a lunch reservation; the place itself is around a mile from Half moon Beach, great location. The ambience was cozy and bright - very tropical-themed and the restaurant was roomy and spacious inside - ample space between tables. Its a kid-friendly place as well, with several high chairs and booster seats. They had a set of crayons and paper to color which kept our toddler occupied. We ordered the grilled shrimp and salmon, that came with mashed potatoes, wild rice, and roasted veggies. Yum! The staff were friendly, the service was great. I will definitely go there again if I visit Half moon Bay.

We had the poke for an appetizer and an assortment of fish tacos for entrées. Everything was edible, but nothing was special. In fact, none of it was close to as good as other places Ive had the same sorts of things. While I didnt expect them to top Hawaiian equivalents, I did expect them to be better than fish tacos Ive had in Minneapolis (of all places)! Basically: while not pricey for fine dining, it was way too expensive for a place lacking ambience and serving such mediocre food. Also it seems to take forever for main meal to arrive.
