The service at this La Fuentes has diminished significantly over the years and pales in comparison to the customer service at the Bluemound Road location. We made reservations for a party of 8 people and still waited well over an hour for our seats. 18% gratuity is added to your bill after 8pm, regardless of party size. I take issue with that because, for starters, our reservation was at 6:30pm. THEY are the reason why we werent seated until 8pm. Secondly, the service we received did not warrant an additional $40-60 on our bill. Our waitress was pleasant but its not like we had her running in circles - she simply brought the food out and disappeared. Needless to say, she did not receive any additional tip. I was a guest at this event so I kept my mouth shut but had it been my dinner, I would have left as soon as they told me my reservation would not be honored. On a good note, the margaritas were excellent and they were the only thing that kept me from leaving and telling my friends to meet me at Botanas (whose service is always excellent, by the way) when it was over. I will not be returning.

La Fuente is a favorite among my friends, and we visit often. What impressed me most, though, was the experience I had there last night. I was part of a group of 27 people going out for a friends birthday. We originally planned to go to a different restaurant, but when we got to that other restaurant, they refused our prior reservation and told us we all had to sit separately. Luckily, La Fuente was within walking distance. We called ahead and they were happy to serve us, even though we got there at about 8:45pm. The servers were attentive and they anticipated our every need -- we were never left without, and as someone who spent years working as a server, I know this is no easy feat for such a large group! They made us feel welcome and served us with a smile. Every order was made correctly, the food was delicious, and I cant say enough wonderful things about our server. (I didnt catch the name, but it may have been Lee.) Thank you so much for continuing to impress me! I will definitely recommend La Fuente to everyone I know!

Being a native Texan and having lived in Chicago for 14 years, Im fairly well versed in "authentic Mexican food," and La Fuente is weak. The tacos are overpriced and dont even come with rice and beans. Seriously, no rice and beans? A Mexican restaurant that charges around $10 for three tacos and doesnt provide rice and beans doesnt deserve to call itself Mexican. In addition, the tacos came with onions only, no cilantro--really? Just onions? The whole vibe of the place is "well, youre lucky to even get Mexican food in Milwaukee, so we going to over-charge you and then make you pay for anything extra." We went there on a Monday for lunch--it was a holiday--and our server told us the lunch specials dont apply because it was a holiday, but they had the specials on the table. Its a place that treats its customers like ATMs. Go somewhere else.

First, La Fuente makes GOOD food, with a Mexican Menu. To clarify, Im speaking about Americanized Mexican food. Traditionally, Mexican food is bland, doesnt have enough meat, and is scarce on cheese. La Fuente brings the right combination of everything to Milwaukee. Starting with the drinks, theyre pretty good, and the Margaritas are great. The chips and salsa are excellent, and they have The Best Caldo De Cameron (shrimp soup). I love the enchiladas and I especially like the tamales. La Fuente has twice the atmosphere of any other Mexican restaurant as well. They have plenty of room, secure parking, several bars, and an extensive patio section. It often looks packed yet rarely takes more than 10 minutes to get a table. If you live in or near Milwaukee and have not been to La Fuente, you are doing yourself a disservice.

We have only had good experiences at La Fuente. Although its primarily the margaritas we go for, the food is above average, but after visiting Cempazuchi on Brady, we gladly returned. The chips are decent, the salsa nice and spicy. The atmosphere is good, and we have only had good service. I do appreciate the heads up on the service charges. As I was about to write this review, I rushed to my wallet and find my receipt. No issue there this time, but I appreciate the heads up. Perhaps the best way to combat this practice since they do not tell you in advance is to not pay ANY additional tip, and tell the server that normally you pay 20%, not 15%. So essentially they lost 5%. Not a lot, but it may get the point across. Maybe that is why the are liberal with the tequila... Any way, I will be back!

Since my other Fav Mexican-American restaurant closed several years ago La Fuentes has been my #1 & ONLY place I will go to get my cravings for HOMEMADE FRESH rice, beans & any type of entree you can imagine from a well established Mexican restaurant. They have the lowest priced lunch specials daily, the fastest and highly professional Bi-Lingual staff. Upon entering you can grab a seat at the bar if your waiting for your order or if arriving with a group of 2-100 you can still have plenty of room to invite more. The food is always freshly made, coffee sometimes (during slow times) has been setting too long and only 2 times out of the hundreds Ive eaten there had to send back for fresh pot to be made.

I know what youre thinking, we lost them after too many margaritas, right? Nope. We had 4 people, the waiter asked to see all of our ids, set them back down on the table, 2 of us took them, the other 2 left them on the table. By the time the food came, the ids were gone, and so was the bus boy. No manager was even remotely helpful. We had the police come, and nobody could do anything about it. Best of all, after all of the hassle, nobody comped our bill. Go at your own risk. We let our guard down and were taken advantage of. Ruined our whole weekend because the ids that were taken were from out of town guests, so they couldnt get replacements to do anything for the rest of the weekend.

Two nights ago my friend and I went here at about 10pm. Only because La Purla was closed. We were seated and the server took our order. She then said she forgot to tell us that we would get our bill right away and we would have to pay in advance along with an added 18% gratuity (this is almost above average service tip). Our bill came to about 24.00 with the 18% Gratuity included. I paid 40.00 because i had no change. She came back about 5 minutes later and gave me a 5.00 bill and left quickly........wait! where is my 10.00? We had to get her back and when she did come back she apologized and pulled out my 10 and indicated she meant to keep the 5.00.....WHAT!!!!!!

Was there Friday with a party of 20, supposedly 1 person in the group smoked some pot before hand and smelled. They desided to kick the entire group out even tho the one person offered to leave on there own. They didnt care. They lost a lot of revenue not to mention most of us have been long time patrons. NEVER again will I or any of the group give this over priced dump, another penny of out money, and be sure we are going to spread the word around on social media, and by mouth how we were treated, needless to say, the competition down the street made close to a $1000 on just our group that night. Entirely there loss and loss of future business.
