Not a good night at North Star! Ordered a drink at the bar and got a table for dinner right away. Things started out OK. They transferred the tab to the table. Waitress had a flighty personality. Not attentive at all. Had to ask for water, butter on the table, but no bread. I asked what the butter was for. She said, oh yea, you can have some bread. We have eaten here several times before and decided to try some new entrees. My wife ordered the veal, not good! had a hint of all spice or cinnamon flavor (not consistent with Itailian as described) & tomato sauce soaked into the breading. Very disappointing dish. The hostess did stop by the table, not the waitress, and asked how the meal was. My wife told her that is was disappointing, and she asked if they could bring her another plate. The problem was not with the plate, but just a bad dish, so she said no and choked down enough to stop her hunger and left the rest. I had the chicken special for &18.95. Very tasty, but the portion was small and I was not filled up. We ordered the apple crisp for desert with gelato, and that was very good. We also had a bottle of Carnivore Cabernet that was excellent. Then the check came. The transfer from the bar included 2 drinks & a bottle of wine that we did not order, but did not include the 2 drinks we did order. The waitress said she would correct and brought the check back. The server did say that the manager was crediting the dessert for the confusion. We had a gift card & paid cash for the difference. The server made the payment process confusing and uncomfortable. Left a 20% tip anyway, but will likely not return soon. Truly an off night for the North Star. If we return, we will stick to the tried and true dishes, and hope for a more professional server.

This place use to be awesome! What happened? The quality has really changed. We were there for breakfast on 5/3/15 and it was awful. They serve canned fruit with every meal. I doubt anyone eats it, our kids wouldnt even eat it! Are they too cheap to serve real fruit? We asked for more of the petite breakfast rolls and they said we couldnt have any more. They are only allowed to give out one per person (which doesnt include children). The kids ate them and there werent enough for everyone else. They brought us regular bread instead. We didnt realize kids eat free on Sunday so that was a nice bonus ... until we saw the kids meals. Oh my gosh, they served our kids (ages 6 and 8) two little tiny miniature pancakes (the microwave kind we have at home) and one piece of bacon with a little bowl of their finest canned fruit. Both kids finished the pancakes and bacon and were still starving! They had some of the free bread and were still hungry. No wonder it was free! Our adult meals were OK - my husband and I both had the traditional eggs benedict and the ham tasted a day old but otherwise it was OK but nothing to rave about. No one went near the canned fruit. Still wondering why they even serve that - no one at our table touched their fruit. The service was great so complaints there. The food quality has gone way down since our last visit. I doubt we will ever go back there.

We walked in wearing our Sunday Packer gear and asked for a table. Instant judgement because we werent in our Sunday best. Server was quick to greet us and brought waters right away. She took our drink order and came back to get our order in a fashionable time. After she brought us our food, see never came back to check us on. I got a skillet with over-easy eggs and was disappointed to find my yolk was closer to fried than easy. My boyfriend got the eggs and ham and the ham was over cooked. She came back after we were finished and asked if wed like anything else. We just stated the check and she informed is the computer systems were down. We stated we were paying with cash and she said she couldnt help us and I informed her we had the cost on the menus and asked if she could add it up and give is a total from there. She said when she had time, she would try. We grabbed a menu, added it up, and handed her the money and I told her I would have appreciated her checking on the table. She said she did ask us if we needed anything and I said once we were completely done and out of beverages. For having a 4.4 star review, I expected a lot more and would hope every server goes by the 2-bites 2-minute policy for checking on a customer, especially when it was not busy.

This was my first visit. The atmosphere is nice and the bar is pretty extensive. The menu offers a lot of variety, especially for apps. The problem came when I ordered my steak medium and it came out almost blue rare. Granted, it was a thick slab of meat but getting steak done to the right temp is such a basic culinary skill they never should have missed by that much. It took a while to get the waitress back over, and by the time the meal had been brought back out to me everyone else was finished. The meat was also tough and overly chewy, though the flavor was good. I ended up eating less than half of it.

Tried the restaurant the first time.Service was excellent (5 stars to that) and the server took great interest in telling us about the menu and the specials. The ambiance was okay as it is part of an upscale strip mall.Chicken Saltimbocca was what I tried.Besides the chicken everything else tasted really good, nicely cooked and decent flavors. The chicken however was not tender and rather very rubber like consistency. One could chew on it for a while.A bit disappointed but maybe will try something different next time.

An absolutely amazing dining experience! We had brunch on Sunday morning, 5 people in our party. The bloody Mary bar was nice, food was great, the service was out of this world! Smiling faces, friendly, nothing ever seemed like an imposition, and there was just the right amount of checking in without being over the top. Ill definitely return to this great Brookfield Bistro.

Overall fine but nothing special. Went on Wednesday night, took a few minutes for the hostess to come up to the front sat right away had a few apps that where good but not great. Main course of beef was dry and not that flavorful. I dont think we will go back. It wasnt bad, I just cant think of a reason to return when there are so many other exciting places to go.

Great for BR-unch and dinner. So-so for lunch. Ive eaten here about a dozen times now. The brunch is one of the best - especially if you order a bloody Mary or two, dinner is very good too, but somethings always missing about lunch. And yes, youll get better service here in business casual or better, but thats OK with me.

We had an awesome experience at North Star, we will be going back again & again! I highly recommend the Cypress Merlot, sooo tasty! Our server, Jamie, made us feel right at home - she was great! I may have to go back this week while they still have the stuffed sirloin special :)
