Douglas McKain Douglas McKain in the last week-Edit A terrific dining experience, from the moment that you enter you are immediately impressed with the eclectic decor. The bar is comfortable easy to sit at and allows for intimate conversation. The employees are without doubt the friendliest in Milwaukee providing outstanding customer service at every opportunity. You are greeted by the hostess quickly and seated just as fast. All of the servers work as a team to ensure that the clients receive maximum attention, my favorite server is Margaret, who is delightful, Margaret is concerned with your experience and just attentive enough. Throughout the establishment you will find the housekeeping standards to be impeccable front to back. I have been to all of the top restaurants in Milwaukee and by far the food at Morel ranks among the top three. Chef Jonathan Manyo uses locally obtained ingredients to produce fresh, healthy scrumptious robust offerings, no skimping here. I have been to restaurants from New York to San Francisco you will find no better than Morel, I regularly take associates from NY SF LA and they are genuinely impressed Prices for the quality at this level should be three times what they are asking and be well deserved. As you can tell I highly recommend Morel, they are the new face of dining in this city. Morel is a must if you are dining in Milwaukee. DM

Went there last night for our anniversary. The hostess welcomed us and immediately wished us a happy anniversary. My wife must have mentioned the reason for our visit when she made the reservation. The service was splendid with extra attention paid to the correct placement of silverware, plates, glasses, etc. I enjoyed the open kitchen and spent too much time watching the chefs prepare the meals. I noticed they would occasionally take a bite of a dish they were preparing. Figured they were hungry and sneaking a quick bite. Unfortunately, my dish came too spicy for my pallet. The hostess immediately wanted to have it remade. She took the plate back to the kitchen and I saw all three chefs grab a spoon and taste the plate. I couldnt tell what the conclusion was, my guess is that the plate was fine and my pallet was too tender. I realized that they werent actually sneaking a quick bite, but they were actually tasting every plate that went out. Chefs that actually taste their food - very impressive! The hostess finished out the meal by providing each us with a glass of champagne in recognition of our anniversary. Thanks! The bill is right where Id expect it to be for an upscale restaurant and well be back again!

Service - Excellent. The Host, Bartender, and Waitress all seemed happy to be there. They were quick, efficient, welcoming, and smiling. Food - Perfected dishes. Each dish was well executed and fantastic. The menu is on the foodie side, but portions are not the typical small foodie portions. The menu rotates with seasonal food. Dining in late November, we had the Duck Confit and the Lamb Ragu. The waitress mentioned a 3 meat donut. "I cant explain why it works, it just does. Its really good." We tried it, and she was spot on. I cant tell you why that combination tastes so good, but it does. The cocktails are also worth a look. Price - Cant compare. We are from out of town. Everything was 25% lower than what were were used to in Minneapolis though. That was nice. Atmosphere - Relaxed. Active bar. Jazz covering the conversation. Not pretentious like you might find at a more stereotypical foodie restaurant.

This has to be the best dining experience I have had in a while. I called on a Friday at 4pm and they got me a reservation at the chefs table. He told me as long as I didnt take 2 hours to eat which I agreed to be out of there before that time frame. From the time I arrived until I left the staff was amazing. The fact that they dont have to dress in all black probably helps with the smiles. Every dish we had was great. The fact that we got to chat with the chefs and watch all the action was amazing. I also got to buy them a round of shots for giving us such an awesome experience. One of the chefs even went out of his way to give us some bourbon ice cream to pair with our dessert which was not how it is normally served. It did enhance the dessert and I was extremely pleased. We actually ended up ordering 2 desserts that evening. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Without a doubt I will be returning.

Im reticent to give this five star review but only because Im greedy and dont want this place to become more popular that it already is so I can still get a reservation! The wait staff is phenomenal. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on. The food is out is this world. The chefs are to be commended. They made the most wonderful lamb and hanger steak for our entrees. The appetizers were also amazing. We had lamb carapaccio and a special mushroom dish that were both amazing as well. For dessert we had an amazing lemon cake with raspberries and chocolate cake. Honestly, there wasnt a single bite I did not throughly enjoy.

I went to Morel last night for the first time and absolutely loved it! The interior of the restaurant is natural and rustic. Lots of reclaimed wood and candles. I started with a craft cocktail, Zs Vacation, which I would highly recommend for those who like tequila. My friend and I split 2 of the starters, parsnip soup and the ham honey biscuit. We each picked a main course as well. They had an amazing selection of desserts and we ended up splitting a flight of ice cream (homemade Rye Whiskey, Bourbon, and Raspberry ice cream)! The service was excellent and very attentive.

Flawless! My husband and I took my parents to dinner here last weekend and we raved about how creative and delicious the food was, the warm and knowledgeable the staff, and the inviting dining atmosphere. We had the ricotta gnudi- so perfectly flavorful and it melts in your mouth, the pork belly - amazing mushrooms, the pork shoulder and knockwurst, and the hanger steak special. We all loved our meals as well as each others. The appetizers and desserts were well balanced and full of thoughtful flavor and ingredient combinations. Morel is truly special.

We ate at Morel last night and loved it, well worth the 30 minute wait. We ordered a starter special of mushrooms and polenta, the short rib entree, and the lamb chop entree. We also ordered cheesecake for dessert, cocktails, and wine. Each dish was amazing and unique. The atmosphere was nice but a tad loud and warm. Our waiter was helpful, friendly, and knowledgable. He noticed our lamb chop was a bit smaller than other customers plates and gave us $10 off our meal. Overall great meal, I would highly recommend.

Morel never disappoints. Their menu items are ever-changing and they incorporate quality ingredients from local growers/producers into their dishes. The lardo spread with bread is extremely delicious and satisfying. Entrees are well-executed and well-seasoned, which is extremely important to me. The servers are knowledgeable, attentive, and polite. Definitely one of my all-time favorite restaurants.

This place is amazing! The decor is super cool and the menu is extremely unique. Our server was very friendly and we wound up getting a lot of the things she recommended. Honestly, I dont think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. And if they have the bone marrow donut with duck liver mousse ice cream for dessert, you HAVE TO GET IT. This is THE most decadent dessert I have had in my life!!
