I had mediocore expectations since it is a relatively small shop and it seemed like a build it yourself fast food experience. However, the udon noodles were so delicious and chewy. You can actually see the noodles being made and pulled by the counter where you order. After ordering your Udon Bowl, you can grab tempura, spam musubi, takoyaki, and other sides. Food ordered: Niku Udon: 5/5 - Udon noodle with soup and braised beef, onions, sliced green onions, grated fresh ginger The udon noodles are so chewy and delicious. I recommend the niku udon since the meat was savory and complemented the soup base very well.

The food was tasty, we had is on and rice bowls. The tempura was a bit stale, but good value. The downside was substantial though. While paying the cashier at least stepped away from the tempura to sneeze into her hand, she didnt waste hands afterward and I looked down to see clear liquid on her hand at the register. The same hand she used to take my credit card and hand us utensils. I pointed out that she needed to wash her hands but she really didnt seem to grasp the issue.

I love eating here! Parking is a little tough to find but its worth the extra driving around. When you get in, you will see the menu to the right and can choose from many options. The home made and you can pick and grab additional toppings as you move towards the cashier. I typically get the soup udon but will sometimes get the tan-tan udon. Be warned! The tan-tan is really spicy. Only downfall I would put on this place is the size of the cups for water. They are tiny!

Mild, spicy, cold or hot, in a soup or just on a plate - always featuring their fresh, toothsome and tasty UDon noodle. Add in the mini-buffet of ala carte tempura treats, takoyaki and musubi and theres a meal to satisfy everyone from my 5 year old to her chili-craving grandpa and even my picky nisei palate. And dont worry if you show up hungry to see the line trailing out the front door- they are truly noodle-shop fast and efficient.

so happy they finally open closer to me in seattle. GREAT fresh udon thats thick and chewy. i love cold udon noodles with dipping sauce. their sauce is generous and so flavorful! its a very very casual place, where you get in line and pick what you what (like deli-counter style) and tempura items or addons. love the concept and the food is good at reasonable prices. wish theres one on the eastside now!

This place is really interesting and I can see why they cater to the college students. Its concept is simple and price is inexpensive. So you start your line by choosing what kind of udon you want i.e. soup or sauce. Then choose brooth and topping. The final part, which is optional is the tempura buffet which you can skip thia totally if you wish to save some money.

The food here is really yummy, couldnt ask for a better bowl of udon unless it came straight from Japan. The place is clean and stylish looking and price is very reasonable for a bowl but a little expensive for chicken or tempura. Service is great and fast and when you leave, the people cooking behind the counter say, "Arigatou gozaimasu!".

U:Don is very authentic, both food and experience, compared to udon places Ive been in Tokyo. I work in the area and I go about once a week. The tempura isnt generally as hot as Id like given its pre-prepared. The tempura prices really drive up the price of your overall experience, so Id say just get 1 or 2 or skip them entirely.

I have always enjoyed this place, despite the pricing debacle I always get myself in with the damn tempura bar. Good quality, taste and selection overall. I worked in a place that gave me access to the back door, they were generally clean but often left rotting jugs of soy sauce... Just like every other similar place on the ave.

If youre looking to try udon this isnt a bad place. The noodles arent super great, but not bad for someone new to udon. There are also a bunch of other Japanese things you can order like tempura and gyudon (my favorite). I really love the atmosphere too. The staff if is pretty friendly and the music is great!

I remember this place being the first spot I ever tried on the ave. The Niku and the curry are my favorites. The sides are what gives this place 5 stars. Price wise, it is as expensive or as cheap as you make it. Whole lot of options, warm, and cozy. Perfect for Seattle weather or when Pho doesnt cut it.

No complaints here, I just ate there for the first time and had a good experience. We came in late at night, it was not busy at all, service was very quick and the staff behind the counter was helpful explaining it to me as a first timer. I thought the layout was nice and open, and it was very clean.

A large bowl of soup noodles is SIX DOLLARS. All caps emphasizes what a ridiculous deal that is so your frugal mittens wont have to dip too deeply into your wallet. A self serve side bar makes for invested customers and happy outcomes. Service is speedy and seating is usually available.

Friendly service, reasonable prices, and really good noodle. Got mine in sauce with ginger rather than soup and would definitely do that again. Highly recommend, but would suggest skipping the tempura-battered sides, which seem pricey and arent nearly as good as the noodles.

I love this place, but the spicy Udon, while it does warn "very Spicy" it seemed like nothing but chili oil. Spicy is great, but when its just spicy with no flavor, its pretty disappointing. The Udon with the plum ois the best dish. The Takoyaki is good, but not great.

Decent to good food and friendly service, but the environment was dirty. Tables, walls, seats, napkin dispenser...everything was dirty. You have to bus your own table, which is fine but there should still be someone who comes along and wipes down the table.

The efficiency of Japanese restaurants without compromising on food quality always amazes me. While the McDonalds of the world compromise on food quality to keep costs low, these restaurants cut cost in the right places. Good quality, low cost meals

This udon place is amazing!! Love how they have several vegetarian options that are delicious. Noodles are perfectly made not overdone and broths are to die for. Fried tempura is always good and also have variety for meat and veggie eaters both.

The noodles and soup were delicious! Great staff and clean restaurant. I got the niku udon with some tempura. It was hot and filling! Also remember to bring some cash to leave a tip since they dont do credit card tips

Very delicious! I am happy to have found a place that serves fresh udon noodles, made right in front of you. When I went, the line was about 10 people deep but it seemed to move pretty fast. Would recommend it!

Delicious, filling noodles for a great price. I love watching the chefs make the noodles while standing in the (usually short) line and order my udon soup with chili oil and lots of tempura flakes.

Terrific japanese noodle cafeteria style lunch counter. There are myriad tempura choices for you to add to your Udon as well as spam musubi that you can take as well. A decent value to boot.
