What drew us in was a review that said they have bottomless Bloody Marys...what other reason would you need to give a restaurant a try? Beyond the draw of Bottomless Bloodies theres the fact that they serve brunch. And I ask you: what goes better with Marys Eternal than some friggin brunch!? Nothing. As I scan the menu I see some down-home comfort food options, though notably nothing fried (no chicken fried steak), and some other fun options, a few just bordering on being what I refer to as "Bistro", but not quite so pretentious. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which is the next best thing to a country/chicken fried steak, and at first glimpse I was disappointed. It was gravy that had a consistency closer to sloppy joes than gravy, and it was on a whole wheat biscuit! Not. Cool. Also, it cost $2 to add eggs... er... egg. Also very not cool. I asked for the eggS over medium and they came over well. So right off the bat things are not looking good for this brunch, despite looking at it through Bloody Mary tinted shades. It turns out that, though the yolk in the single $2 egg was cooked through and solid, it was otherwise cooked and seasoned almost perfectly. The side mashed/baked potatoes were somewhat bland by themselves, but came right to life with some salt, pepper, and a few more sips of the constant bloody companion. Ok, so two out of three isnt bad, but whole wheat biscuits? Srsly? I was instantly disabused of my notion that whole wheat biscuits would suck, and that the gravy was going to be a failure. Though not the best B&G Ive ever had, it was absolutely the most unexpectedly adequate. My wife ordered the Eggs Bennies, and was disappointed, but it was passable. In all fairness, were completely spoiled for Eggs Benedict after we tried Tastys recipe and felt wed made the best ones wed ever had. So, not mind blowing, but good enough to at least finish. My five year old loves how I cook eggs (over medium) and got one of those, but her yolk was solid too. Again, yolks aside, they did a great job on the eggs otherwise. The sausage and bacon were delicious, I wish Id ordered Sourdough toast because its just so good, but overall it was a very pleasant meal. The two waitresses were very nice in the authentic way that you dont get a whole lot, in fact, she only charged us for one bottomless bloody mary, and one regular, because I was the only one even trying to find a bottom. My wife did not bring her "A" game, but fortunately the waitress did, because those were really good bloody marys. A little tangy, a little salty, a little spicy, and very well balanced. To summarize: after a 20% tip for the wonderful service, our bloody marys, two full breakfasts, and an assortment of eggs and sides for the little one, it cost $80 total. Thats not what Id planned to spend on brunch, but the beverage service really helps take the sting out of it. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I say its worth the full $80? Its close. They need to nail the egg yolk, not make a single egg $2, keep punching up the recipes theyre not strong at yet, and put some damn bacon somewhere on that bloody mary. That is what would make the difference between absolutely going back repeatedly and just kinda keeping it in mind in the event we happen to be in the area and not in the mood to try out another restaurant in the area.

Went here tonight, a busy Friday night. The food was ok; unfortunately the service was really bad. We got the fish and chips and a grilled cheese; the grilled cheese was the far end of the loaf and small, the fries were cool, and our waitress informed us many things werent available, but overall the food was alright given the price. The service on the other hand was really bad; we waited ~10 minutes for water, more for our drinks, got our appetizer after our main course, and had to get our own silverware. The people next to us were annoyed enough to call it the worst meal of their life, and got comped their meal. I cant say it was that bad, but we wont be back.

We visited recently-- it was disappointing. We sat for over 25 minutes while our tall and charming wait guy flirted with customers at another table. The personality of the wait was very very off-putting to say the least--- he needs to transfer to the housekeeping or delivery service industries. The meal was ok at best-- very odd choices. For example, the rhubarb sauce on the lamb was wierd-- stringy-- and very uninviting. I took guests there from out-of-town--- never again my friends. Dicks would have better.

Maple Bar somehow combines the authenticity and relaxed vibe of a neighborhood bar with the class of a high end bistro. Their staff is kind and clever, the menu boasts a limited variety of dishes from the healthy and tasty to the rich and decadent, and their signature cocktails are masterpieces of the highest calibre. Seriously, try the smoked manhattan.

Good food and good rotating taps. The drink list is a bit pretentious. Service could use a bit of work. Brought my kids with me and ordered the PB&J. They brought the sandwich over 5 min after the adults were served. And the sandwich was made with really thick cut crusty sourdough. Obviously nobody who works there or cooks there has kids.

Always a great experience - I love the atmosphere, staff, food, drinks and happy hour specials. Brunch is probably the best but dinner is great, too. Theres some cute outdoor seating if its not packed, and the people are all just awesome. I miss living in the neighborhood but try to go back as often as possible!

Monkey King gave me a Friday night I wont soon forget. Amazing friendly staff, drinks arent too pricey and the in house Nintendo Wii really had all of the patrons laughing together. Great little atmosphere and close to the drunken train ride home... What more could you want?

Chicken caesar salad was fresh and quite good. Questioned the raw egg dressing but pulled it off. One of the best Ive had. Trout was very fresh and well cooked. Quite good but a little too much butter. Cute little small atmosphere.

Poached eggs that were undercooked and slimy, bacon burnt to a crisp, and potatoes bland. Didnt even serve toast with butter or jam. Surprised any cook would serve my plate of food to a customer.

ID GIVE 5 STARS IF THEY WOULD BRING BACK THE MEATLOAF SLIDERS!! Good beers, and great that they usually have a sour beer or gose on draft. Food used to be better.
