NIJO Sushi Bar and Grill.. the name alone means business. Like a name of a Samurai going to Kill Bill your sushi. Like the 5 point palm, you gonna die from amazing sushi, service, and sumptious drinks. Dont misunderstand me, I definitely meant my preceeding sentence in a good way. I have had the pleasure of dining there since they opened in 2005. Jasmine, the owner, quite remembers vividly me trippin through the entrance with my brand new Gucci heels. Seriously, I tripped! It was funny. Ever since, many lunch dates ensued, happy hour get togethers and late night dinners Ive enjoyed so much. Ambiance is rustic chic which meshes well with the Pioneer Square, 1st Avenue area. And I love the outdoor seating when it is nice out or by one of their huge windows. I love their cute bento boxes for lunch, their happy hour menu and drinks- I always end up drinking something different there. Always a good time and always accomodating. The bartender has a knack of making up new drinks. You should tell him what you generally like and let him take the reigns in designing a drink especially for you. Special Thanks to Jasmine Mac and Staff for always accomodating me even though usually last minute. Well, who am I kidding? It is ALL the time. Yummy Yum Yum, Im teling ya.

Pros: -fairly close to pike place market and many tours -cucumber water -wait staff defended me against evil table(if heroes) Cons: -Rude staff (if not heroes) -poorly made sushi during lunch -expensive for portion sizes My wife and I went during lunch and shall not be going back. Our waitress was either very angry at the table itself we were sitting at (or knew something we didnt about its intentions)and tried to attack it with our food dishes or she was in a foul mood. "Eh happens..." I thought and gave her the benefit of the doubt(happened with each new dish though). Clams were alright but not postcard worthy but our maki rolls were a six count and one of them had no yellowtail in the bite as well as being loosely rolled. When our waitress collected our dishes she scooped and stacked them with the grace of a cat trained in ballet. Take the small hike to the international district to pay for good sushi made by people who care instead of a novice product served by rude people in posh digs

My friend and I went for happy hour but neither of us drink, and a drink is required to eat at happy hour prices. Luckily, the prices here arent crazy high, so we ordered off the normal menu. I got sashimi and she got the katsu curry. The katsu was a pretty large portion, and tasted pretty good (I tried a little)! The sashimi was generally good -- the salmon was some of the best, melt-in-your-mouth salmon Ive ever had, but the tuna was just okay. The rest of the white fish was good, but nothing spectacular. It was probably because it was happy hour, but the servers seemed very busy and we felt abandoned at multiple times in the night (it took us at least 10 minutes to get them to notice we were trying to give them our credit cards to pay after they gave us the check). Id more than likely come back here in the future, but wouldnt make it a regular thing.

My girlfriend is a food photographer for Amazons new carry-out service and I was lucky enough to shadow her today for her shoot at Nijo. Amazingly, after the shoot, the restaurant management let us keep the food at no charge. The dishes were artistically displayed, incredibly fresh, and in general some of the best sushi Ive had at any Japanese restaurant. The restaurant selects their fish based on quality and you can tell in the taste and texture of each individual ingredient. Everything from the most basic sashimi to the more complex softshell crab / noodle dish was top notch. My girlfriend and I even went to Copenhagen, Denmark recently and we even agreed that the sushi at Nijo was better quality. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be back soon.

My girlfriend and I went to Nijo on our first date last summer, and we just went back for Valentines Day. The food was excellent; she raved about her unagi while my pan-seared salmon was a great blend of spicy and mild. The best thing about Nijo, though, is that even on a crazy night like Valentines Day, no one was rushing around like the world was ending. Our waitress was fun and attentive, and someone from the buss staff was constantly refilling our water glasses and clearing plates, and Im certain I saw someone who mustve been management calmly walk past and look things over a few times. Its a very well-run restaurant, and a great place to just enjoy a nice evening out. We cant wait to go back when it gets warmer and sit out on the little patio!

One of my favorite sushi places in Seattle. Its probably one that youve drive by many times and not even realized it. Its hidden in an ally way so make sure to keep your eyes open. The quality of the sushi here is super fresh with excellent presentation. My favorite roll here is the Volcano roll: cucumber, jalapeño, lemon slice and cilantro topped with sea scallops and eel sauce, then sprinkled with tenkasu and red tobiko & the Flamin’ Fire roll: spicy tuna roll wrapped with albacore and tuna and topped with 2 spicy sauces, then drizzled with barcadi 151 rum and flamed. Id venture out and try something new here, youll be impressed. The ambiance and atmosphere is dim and provide an intimate setting for dinner.

My friend and I came in here on a Saturday afternoon and ordered "mystery rolls" over and over -- about 8-10 total. Unfortunately the chef never got very creative, even though we told the waitress we werent scared of anything. I like the location; it is nicely hidden. It seems kid friendly and that would probably be great if I had any kids. They recently took Mac and Jacks off the menu, which sucks, but they have 4 beers on tap and 2 that rotate (if I recall correctly). Other than being slightly disappointed in the mystery rolls and no Mac and Jacks even though it was on the menu, the food was good, the service was great, and I would go back without much of a second thought.

Today at about 19:45, we went to this restaurant to eat Sushi and we got a lousy time, one of the vessels, with drink came with two flies. We called the restaurant manager to explain why we were leaving the restaurant before going to bring our food and record the bad time that we had. Then there appeared a lady saying it was the manager, we explain and show you what happened. She answer, left us open mouth: "It happens finding flies in drinks is normal" so she said very naturally and not caring. Seeing this attitude I will take pictures the glass so that everyone knows that eating in this restaurant is not safe, it is "normal" to find insects in your food.

My wife and I have been craving Japanese Sushi since we left Okinawa. After 3 years there, we had acquired a more refined taste for fresh sushi. Nijos was perfect to fulfill our craving. The price was well fitting to the amount of food we received. For very decent price, we bought Miso, Curry, Egg Rolls, Seattle and Spider. Nothing more could be asked for as we ate, quenching or thirst with their cucumber water. As for the setup, it was splendid. Low light and cleanlines abounding for the inside, and the outer area kept simplicity to a must. As a result, we are planning to come here for or wedding anniversary next year. Gladly coming back for more.
