Ever find yourself sitting around, thinking wistfully of hot links? Its an experience I was unfamiliar with until I ate at Moonshine -- and they totally downplay the delicious. Outside, it sort looks like it might be a hipster bar that started out of a food truck, but inside, the signs of good BBQ are around: paper towel rolls on the table, a good selection of sauces, and meat by the pound. Yeah, it smells legit too. Noms nomd: Brisket, ribs, hot links, fries, sweet potato waffle fries, baked beans, collard greens, and, of course, delicious cornbread with honeyed butter. Oh, hush -- there were two of us; I wasnt /that/ hungry. Beans: Delicious, smokey, not too sweet. Ribs: Cooked perfectly and still moist. Picture a dog gnawing a bone. Brisket: More, please. Surprisingly good with the Tangy sauce selection (a honey mustard vinegar concoction? Dont question it, just try it!) Fries: Mmm, cooked perfectly, battered a little perhaps? Collard greens: Good flavor, a little limp, but not mushy. YMMV Hotlink: There seems to be cheese and jalapeno in here -- not sure it was something special or their normal hotlinks, but holy crap, I stay awake dreaming of these. Did not try the moonshine, of which they offer sample flights that seemed pretty popular. Good beer selection too.

Our first time and our last. The service was friendly, but the meats just dont cut it. We ordered the family combo which came with pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and a hot link (vs. kielbasa); cornbread for 4; side dishes we chose were sweet potato waffle fries and Succotash. It seemed most of the meats that came to us was dry/overdone or old. The pulled pork was very very dry, so were the ribs which were thin and blackened on both sides. The brisket, on the other hand, was more soggy that wed like. The hotlink was ok, but still overdone. It took some effort to chew the case of the hotlink. The drinks were not bad. We tried the Nitro Post Doc beer, which was the smoothest beer i ever had, and also the Bootlegger moonshine which was good for a cocktail. Edit: after my review, i looked at the pictures that were posted and it appeared that some other people had more luck that i did with their ribs. In hindsight, we should have mentioned something to the server regarding the quality of our meats, especially since our ribs were so charred. But on the other hand, whoever served us the meat thought that it was ok to serve their customers such abomination, then I dont feel bad that they, in return, get a bad review and losing my business.

My work collegues and I tried this place for the first time today and were blown away by the terrific food and amazing, efficient service. We ordered a huge lunch for 10 people at the last minute (called an hour before we wanted it delivered) and not only did Mark and his team delivery, they went above and beyond. Our Order: 2lb brisket, 2 chickens (which they cut up into pieces for us), 1 rack ribs, ½ pan corn bread with honey butter, and 1 quart each of the potato salad, baked beans, brisket chili, mac & cheese, and collard greens. It was all incredibly delicious, especially the brisket (fell apart as I picked it up), chicken (flavor was really embedded in the meat, very juicy/tender), chili, and the corn bread (very moist), and the collard greens which I LOVE and cannot get enough of. They also provided utensils, napkins, and extra sauce which was just another step in their great service. We cannot wait to order from them again (with far better notice next time) and try all the great items on the menu that we didn’t have a chance to. If you are craving BBQ, this is a terrific choice. Hands down my regular spot now. Thanks Moonshine for your wonderful service! We appreciate you!

My husband and I have now been here 2 times in the last 2 weeks. This place is great. Everything weve had here has been amazingly delicious. They have 3 different kinds of BBQ sauce at every table, so you can find the one thats right for you. This place also has a great selection of moonshines and whiskeys, as well as beer. My one complaint is that both times Ive asked for a medium rare burger, it comes out well done. That being said I ate it anyways and it still had a great flavor and juiciness to it. The honey siracha brussel sprouts and brisket chili are great starters. As far as a main entree goes, everything Ive tried so far has been amazing. Their Ruben sandwich comes on a pretzel bun that has the perfect amount of firmness and buttery deliciousness to it. Well definitely keep coming back here.

I have been coming here since they opened, and I have never been disappointed, and it has become one of my go-to choices when dining out. They do Smoked Prime Rib special on Fridays which is delicious, and it is enough food that my friend and I split it. The meat is tender and flavorful, and the side dishes are yummy. I prefer the potato salad and baked beans to the mashed potatoes. The one thing they serve that I can never go in and not order is their fried pickles! They do spears, not slices, so it is not just breading! Super yummy! As I said, I love their staff members, but I have to admit, I will more often than not pick up food, but that is because am not so much into sportsball, but when I have dined in, the staff is wonderful, and they are attentive, but not overly so!

I used to go here about once a month and it was great. I really enjoyed the brisket caesar salad, also I like the fact that they have three different versions of bbq sauce and that theyre all on the side. Unfortunately they changed ownership recently, and while the service is still decent the food has been consistently disappointing since. On one visit, the brisket was so tough that it was practically inedible. I let my server know and she told me the rotating mechanism in their smoker had broken overnight so half of the meat was overcooked and the other half was undercooked. They were still serving it though, and despite my complaint I was still charged full price.

Picked up food here to go for a picnic in the park, mistake. Ordered a beef brisket sandwich and two "poutines" to go. The brisket was salty to the point that it was inedible and the barbecue sauce that came with it tasted like ketchup with cayenne pepper in it. The "poutine", if it can be called that, had 5 pieces of cheese curd on it and was served with lumpy chicken gravy. The fries tasted like theyve been fries in oil well past its prime. Ive had poutine in many different places and nothing will ever replicate the taste of eastern Canada, but seriously? Ive had Burger King poutine that tasted better than this. Save your money, go somewhere else.

So went here this past Monday night, to give it another shot. I am HIGHLY disappointed with this place. The service was decent, our waitress checked up on us time to time. But there were 2 things that irritated me. 1) The seating area inside was to small. If they would have taken a table out and spread out the tables more. The seating area would be better. Or expend the building. And 2) Its really not worth the money for their food. They are very skimpy with their food. Small cornbread and less meat on the plate. For the same price, I can go to Famous Daves and get double the meat and double the size of the cornbread. So this is why I was disappointed.
