What an awful experience. First we stood at the front waiting to be seated and we were pretty much ignored. Then once we were finally seated we were served water without ice, which in a restaurant I think is extremely odd. My father ordered a glass of wine, which was small and cost $10. We ordered an appetizer which took a total of 45 min to arrive, we were told he would be back to take our food order, he never came back, another lady took it for us about 30 min after we ordered the appetizer. She couldn’t believe we hadn’t ordered yet. Meanwhile we are out of water. Then an hour later our food arrives, people that were seated after us had left already. Not once did he apologize. He told us a manager would come talk to us and he never did. Food portions are small, food isn’t fresh, probably a lot of frozen food and mixes. Just an all around disaster.

When you first walk in, they welcome you. Ordering your food, good... Then it falls off. The waiter didnt check on us not once. Came by and took my glass and never refilled it. Another waitress had came and refilled my husbands water. But thats it! No water, didnt bring back a refill, didnt ask if we wanted refills. Waited 10 minutes after we were done eating for him to come by and rush our food into containers and give us a check. And there was barely any customers in the restaurant! The other waitress had more customers to serve than our waiter! Food gets a 4 out of 5. Service gets a 1 out of 5. You do NOT pay for what you get, as a whole package. Never going back.

Wasted $20 driving there from Fed Way b/t gas and tolls... ...what a joke. Waited almost 15 minutes to be asked twice by the same person if we needed to be seated (with about 10% of the tables occupied). Watched them botch a carryout order, telling the person when they arrived that they have no explanation from the chef for why the food hadnt been started. Was warned by another couple who was also leaving without being served after being seated for ~15 mins that the service was bad. Dont let all the 4+ star reviews fool you. This place is a complete mess with the areas most incompetent staff. Wish I could review the food but couldnt even get a table.

After dining there tonight I can say that was the worst service we have ever encountered. #1) We were kept waiting at the door while the owner was talking on his cell phone. Finally a waitress showed us to a seat. We asked her if the were honoring the Entertainment card and both she and another waiter did not see any problem with it. #2) The manager didnt honor it and then they wouldnt accept our credit card unless we indicated the tip amount before they rang it up. #3) The food was decent but could never offset the lousy service. If you want good service with superior food, go to Bombay Bistro on 6th Avenue.

I and my wife are Indian....both very very picky....actually I am insufferably picky....my daughter (foodie) jokes that I have almost never given a good rating to a restaurant ! Gateway to India in Gig Harbor (we live in San Diego) is fabulous. The service is very good...the ambiance is good and the food is excellent.....very well prepared and presented. We actually look forward to Gig Harbor visits because of Gateway to India. And Thank God for a relatively original name.....so not keen on cliche names for Indian restaurants!

We love brunch buffet and dinner at Gateway To India, excellency is all the way across the board, with service, food, atmosphere, cozy furniture, comfort, it is a delicious, healthy, friendly place to be and experience again and again. We are vegan-raw by choice, Gateway To Indias menu and buffet have plenty for us to enjoy, as well as many other additional choices. Location of Gateway To India, is easy access and departure from and to Hwy 16.

I brought my mom here for her birthday. It was AMAZING. The service was great, the place was clean and smelled like fresh made food and everything we ate was delicious. The rice was amazing, so soft and flavorful and our dishes were beyond, so many layers of flavor and yum. Their prices are reasonable and we both left with leftovers I wish I had the stomach space to eat right now.

We must have picked a bad night. Very slow -- almost an hour to get our food. Poor service -- waiter didnt tell us delay was due to burnt kabobs until we snagged him (he kept avoiding us). When food FINALLY arrived, it was at room temperature. Chicken was very fatty and lacked flavor. We wont be back.

Time & again we have visited since they opened & they have never disappointed us. Pick anything on the menu; they aim to please. If you are visiting for the first time try the lunch buffet. Everything is fresh & you can sample a variety of foods. We love having them in the Harbor!

The food was great. absolutely great, and presentation was beautiful. And the staff is wonderful. I lost my phone there, and even though I had dropped it in the parking lot, one of the staff members kept it safe until we were able to track it down. 10/10 would recommend

My family loves Gateway to India, even my picky 8 year old! This is not fast food (service can be slow) but worth the wait. The Korma and Masala are the best weve had anywhere. Fresh food, friendly service. We only wish they were open on Sundays!

Honestly, one of my absolute favorite meals in the Harbor. The lamb masala is exquisite and the rice with it is cooked to perfection. I get a 3 on a 1-5 spice level and theres no burn whatsoever, just great flavor. Try it out, you wont regret it.

Selection was well sized. Most dishes are mild (mild for Indian food is still a bit spicy for most). They provide spicy sauce on request too. Everything was fresh and the service was very quick & professional.

Fast to be sat and seen. Food was hot, good and fast. Spice level was what we asked for. Plenty of table side service. Would recommend to a friend and come again.

I experienced the lunch buffet today. I really enjoy trying the different samples of Indias cuisine. My family are longtime fans of Gateway to India.
