As an immigrant I find the American diner experience one of the most quintessential things one can do. Appearance: it looks like a diner, down to the seats at the bar right in front of where the food is being cooked on a griddle. The counter top was clean, as was the cutlery. Water came promptly (which was good becuase this place was warm -- to be expected when youre sat right next to the kitchen. If you wanted you could sit on the back patio or in a booth where it would have been cooler. Food: I ordered the two eggs breakfast (over easy, wheat toast, hash-browns). The eggs were perfectly cooked: the yolks runny with no hit of cooking of them, and the whites were firm and properly cooked. The hash browns were also perfect: the potato was cooked through, not gummy with the outer layer being firm and satisfyingly crunchy. The toast was well-done, but not burnt; nice choice of jams and orange marmalade to go on it. The coffee was good, not bitter. The mug had a nice heft to it (helping keep your coffee warm and cooling it down to drinkable temperature when filled the first time). Wait staff: could have been a little more on-time with the coffee (I had to ask for a refill), but the place is small enough that they cant disappear. Will put this on my list of places to stop by again when Im on the island.

I visited Madison Diner whilst exploring the PNW this last weekend. Overall, I was throughly impressed. My burger was delicious, cooked exactly to order, and just the right size. The French fries were not crunchy, not soggy, but at a perfect medium. My meal was pleasantly priced at a good value. I was thoroughly impressed that all the burgers were available with a vegetarian patty. I understand thats not too unusual up here, but its an oddity where Im from. The only reason I didnt give this restaurant five stars was because of the service. Everyone we spoke with was perfectly pleasant and courteous, but it took a while to get anything done. My buddy and I walked in the door waiting for a table and there were three employees reviewing something on the register. I expected that once they finished, one would add our name to the list, but they all went separate ways. We didnt get any acknowledgement for about ten minutes despite being in arms reach of several, including the hostess that eventually seated us. Throughout the meal, the waitress came by the table a few times, but it felt like it may have been a little too long. Overall, Id recommend this restaurant. The burger made it so worthwhile. I wouldnt go here if youre in a rush, though.

The menu is a nice variety items. A hopefull place to try for a pleasing meal. The food can be good, but shows surprising variation in preparation - with parts under or over cooked, or in odd ways. The real disappointment is the waitress staff. Clearly their priorities are on their personal social activities and group of teenage-acting friends that stop by. It wouldnt be so bad if they didnt make it so obvious gathering in little areas with their backs to their customers. It would be nice if they did try to bring drinks or refills you asked for, or even your check within 30 minutes from when you tried to get their attention, or cleared-of the patio table within an hour after the adjacent customers left so the crows didnt gather so excitedly. Weve been there many times. Trying to overlook the in a daze service. Many times weve said to ourselves "well never go back". Its sad. After a few months we try again. Tonight we finally decided that we will stop trying. Apparently the owners have plenty of local friends that can keep them in business.

My wife and I like to eat dinner here periodically. The food is reasonably priced which can be a problem eating at some restraunts on Bainbridge. The waitstaff is comprised of local teens, which can have mixed results for service. That being said its, if you need a refill or anything just ask; the dinner is fairly small and your waitress is close by. I almost always get the chicken and waffles. My wife prefers the chicken club with avacados. Weve never had any problems with our food. They do make some pretty good burgers too. I always enjoy the biscuits; theyre fresh made daily and the closest I can get to a home style, southern biscuit I can get as a southern transplant. There is always a board with interesting, seasonal specials. If youre on the island its a nice place to eat and use the free WiFi.

Madison Diner somehow works well on Bainbridge Island despite being a shiny lunchbox on an island more accustomed to a hemp sack. Why? Because everyone likes a greasy spoon. They are reliable and almost always good. They are a slice of apple pie, or maybe even home cooking. Amongst the organic and cage-free granola crowd, a greasy spoon is exactly what tourists and locals secretly crave. The staff is young and friendly. The food is good and fast. And the atmosphere is fun! Only complaint is that business hours are not always kept. If service is slow, they will close up early. So reliability in that sense is, well, not always reliable.

Both myself and my wife were very disappointed in the quality of the food and the serving. I would go so far as to say it was the worst food Ive ever experienced. In our working days both of us were in sales in various industries and had the opportunity to experience food from all parts of the country. Plus weve made several trips to Europe and the UK, knowing not to expect to much with British food, I would have to say the British food was a great deal better than what we experienced at the Madison Diner.

Ive been here many times, living on Bainbridge. The breakfast is pretty good, about what youd expect from an IHOP or Elmers. Ive only been here once for dinner and it wasnt amazing. It has always felt dirty to me though, with sticky floors and flies buzzing around. Great alternative to Streamliner Diner if its full, but if you are on Bainbridge and you have time for breakfast go to Streamliner.

Classic 30s 40s era train car style diner, walking distance from the ferry to seattle, I had the Mediterranean omelet and my date had handmade corned beef hash and they were awesome. On the way to there is an art museum and niche shopping, safe friendly and dog friendly area, a must visit, there is also a high end antique store just a block away.

Sorry to leave such a poor review. Last time I was here there was more food on the floor than there was on the plates. I am not kidding. The cooks had thrown tons of food scraps on the mats they were standing on. It was as if they had just forgotten a trash can existed. That cant be up to health code. I used to love this place. What happened?!

Très bonne adresse, un vrai retour aux années cinquante , un service chaleureux des hamburgers qui méritent leur noms , bref une excellente adresse sur bainbridge.

Terrible service and so so food. We had a party of more than 6 which meant a 20% gratuity was added to our bill. Fine, but was it me or did it seem like the waitresses then sat back and did their absolute least for us? No, it wasn’t me. These ladies made a mockery out of a tradition designed not to leave them short changed. Shame.
