My go-to spot when in Sonoma and want something yummy. As for the negative reviews, this is Sonoma, not New York. No one cares what experience you have had on the east coast. This is a DINER... not some bourgeois, hoity-toity, 5 star members only restaurant where Gwyneth Paltrow will personally prepare a truffled, pu-erh leaf dish infused with the tears of a Pegasus... a diner... that is what this place is and they do it well. I beleive it is California law where places have to have the caloric information on their menus. Just because a biscuit in New York doesnt have the caloric information on it doesnt mean it is good for you. If this happens to be a problem for you, then I beleive the childrens menu may be best for you, as it has tiny wittle portions good for a child or an adult with the body and physique of an 8 year old. Also the caloric information is available by request, i believe with that, so you can continue on with your life of living in denial. But I digress, I dont recall ever seeing a biscuit that is good for you... so dont order it if you like to fit your body into really tiny places such as shoe boxes, file cabinets, or Geo Metros, just a suggestion. So if you are hungry, and are trying to work off a buzz from all the wine tasting you have been doing, and you arent full of yourself then you wont be disappointed here. This place is great for the WONDERFUL locals of Sonoma and for travelers alike. Also, dont insult the locals of Sonoma or call California "Cali"... it is bad form.

I really wish I could give this place more stars but sadly I cannot. The two stars I gave are for its location, and for the large portions of the food. The reasons I gave it 2 stars are as follow. Most of the food is Bland, and without taste. My wife ordered the thanksgiving sandwich and the Turkey had freezer burn, cranberry was canned, and the green beans were microwaved. I had the pesto pasta with chicken. It was ok. Again, the flavor was there but lacking. It just feels like this chain could do better. The foods over salted, over greased, and has no character.

One of the best things about moving to Sonoma was finding the Black Bear diner where you can breakfast all day and almost everything else you can imagine. The staff is great, great for takeout and I always feel welcome and comfortable being alone. The reason why I wrote this was to find out the hours because I need some breakfast tonight. Try them, youll love them! And they are open on Xmas for single people like me.

5-stars. A great diner that consistently serves-up a quality meal. The chicken fried steak with two eggs, country potatoes, and toast was excellent. Want a little spice with that? Then ask them to bring some of their house salsa (no charge). Total price before tip: $14.73. Yelpers, now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Great place! The atmosphere and service are what I have come to expect at all of the Black Bear diners. Only thing I would change is the breakfast gravy. It still has the taste of raw flour. It just needs to cook a little longer. Certainly no reason to impact this review.

Good service. Depends on what time of the day. It gets busy because its good food a lot of good food at a great price! If you sit at the front tables you get to watch them cook! The pancakes are wonderful and they serve it with real butter!

Slow, really slow service. Several people were waited on before we were, even though we were seated first and had waited over 15 minutes. Food was super slow to arrive and was bland at best. Worst place to eat in Sonoma.

Good chain diner food. We came in today (Tuesday morning around 10), and had French toast and a California benedict. Both were good, typical diner food. Big portions for $10. Waitress was nice too.

Amazing breakfast and huge portions!! Friendly servers, heaping portions, and perfect diner coffee!! This is hands down my favorite place for breakfast in Sonoma. Just go try it!
