I was told for years by a couple friends to not go to Carytown Burgers; that the wait was awful, the service horrendous and the food subpar. Finally, a couple months ago, I caved and went because I wanted to formulate my own opinion. Let me just say Im going to be eternally pissed at myself for the money I gave this awful establishment. I usually give a place 3 tries to get it right. The first time, it took us over an hour to get our food, even though there was almost no one else in the restaurant. Okay, no biggie, I get how it is when a coworker doesnt show up. The second time, we placed our orders, waited for OVER and hour, and when we asked the girl at the desk what the issue was, she said she had FORGOTTEN ABOUT US!!! They had let our two platters sit to the side without ever bothering to figure out whom they belonged to. She refunded us and promised to send us a 50% off our entire order coupon and... well, guess what, that unsurprisingly didnt show up, either. We gave them one last try. We ordered delivery this time. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and my significant other ordered a bacon cheese with no onions and a fried egg added. Well, instead, I got a bacon cheeseburger with no cheese, no mayo, no mustard, and the tiniest, most dried out looking patty Ive ever seen. My SO got a burger with grilled onions added, and no fried egg, with a similarly awful patty... WTF!?!?!? I really should have learned my lesson the first time around, but this is what you get for trying to be thoughtful and accepting. Carytown Burgers, you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself for serving that crap up. I could go to Cookout and order a juicier, better made burger there than I can from a "local RVA chain." I used to also hear jokes about how all the kitchen staff at Carytown Burgers are drugged out... well I definitely believe it now. Now, if anyone wants a GOOD burger joint to go to, I recommend Roys Big Burger. Sweetest employees, fast service and DAMN good Burgers!!!

We didnt know what to expect from Carytown Burgers and Fries but overall had a satisfying experience. The menu had plenty of options without being overwhelming. We ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger, the vegan burger, and cheese fries. I was very satisfied with the mushroom swiss burger. The onions were fresh and crisp and the patty was moist and had plenty of body. We were less impressed with the vegan burger, unfortunately. It was too mushy and the large grains and pieces of corn gave it a poor texture. The toasted bread was good, though. The cheese fries were a very generous helping, and while the cheese sauce was better than most cheese sauces, I wasnt the biggest fan. Our table was a little sticky and there were several dirty tables. The staff were polite and helpful. Overall, we had a satisfying experience and will definitely give it another shot.

I have NO IDEA why this place is lauded the way it is. The burgers fall apart after a couple of bites and are pretty much tasteless. The fries have never been fresh the two times I have been there and the wait staff are a bunch of VCU, tattooed, blue-haired, artsy types that seem to be in their own world half the time. Never once did they offer to re-fill my drink. This place is nothing special. If you want a REALLY good burger go down the street to other burger joints near Innsbrook. The burgers at these OTHER places have FLAVOR, the fries are ALWAYS fresh and the staff is incredibly nice. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AT CARYTWON BURGERS AND FRIES!!! There are many MUCH BETTER options for high-end burger places near Innsbrook.

Dont know what happened to this place. Used to be great when it first opened, if a little overpriced. However the food and service have been steadily declining in quality -- maybe too many new hires off Craigslist, from all the posts Ive been seeing. Lo and behold today we got a delivery with pink chicken... none of the rest of the order was edible, even the bacon wasnt good, ended up throwing it all out. However the most horrifying part of this would have to be the managers blasé attitude over a potential salmonella scare when we tried to notify him. Overall pretty disgusted and will never be coming back. Maybe you should focus more on your staff and their training instead of competing over best in town titles.

Staying at the Hilton on travel and was forced to venture out due to Shulas being totally booked. I thank them for that, because Carytown has a cool vibe, awesome burger & fries, and great beer. The service was outstanding as well. Back in Richmond 3 weeks later and visited Carytown again (2 more times) and must say the third time was just as good as the first visit. Great burgers and awesome beer selections. If I lived in the area, I would visit this place regularly.

Just okay. Two chicken sandwiches, two drinks, and fries to share was 29$. I can get the same in a full service restaurant. My wifes bun was dry and the chicken sandwiches were very small in size. Neither of us eat red meat. Atmosphere was less than impressive but okay. It was just an okay experience. It wont be a reason to leave the house. Only gave 3 stars because food was hot and fries were good. We may or may not be back.

Good thing opionions are like butholes. :) Everyones got them.I loved everything about this place!! So many options. Im not even a burger fan but when Im in the mood I go here. Staff is always very pleasant when me and my friends visit. It adds a splash of color to all this west end bull. So if you want a good burger and have tattooed, blue hair people prepare delicious food for you then your choosing right. BEST IN TOWN!!

Our first visit.. We are moving to the area and was looking for a good non- chain hamburger.. The food was fresh and tasty.. Large basket of non shoestring fries.. The service was quick and the staff friendly..they deliver the food to the table and clean up after you.. More expensive than chain chain burgers but not excessively so.. Adequate parking and seating.. We will be back

Went there with a coupon from a Kroger receipt. Delicious food! Well priced. I had the rodeo burger that had an awesome BBQ sauce and she got the fried fish sandwich which looked nice and crisp. The burger and bacon had a ton of flavor. I appreciate the relaxed, laid back atmosphere. Went at 2pm on a Sunday and there was no one there - no wait! Good beer selection, too.

Food was okay. Service was very slow for not being busy. Also would have been nice to told there was a cost to have turkey instead of beef on the specialty burger, or how much of a charge it would be to get mac&cheese instead of fries for a kids meal. Didnt have the atmosphere I was expecting. Expected the same experience as Carytown, not a sit down.

Food was good. Milkshakes were more like milk they were so runny. Female cook was cussing and complaining, stating she was "fixin to quit". I guess she was unhappy that a group of 6 came in after the lunch rush. Hearing that kind of language from a staff member is unacceptable in any situation. I will go again, just not to the Short Pump location.
