As a person who has tasted and critiqued authentic Japanese sushi, I think my review is qualified enough. Presentation wise, the sushi is wonderful, everything looks nice, and doesnt fall apart. The ingredients are good quality, but one criticism I have is that the sushi has too much rice, probably designed as a cost saver, it really hinders the tastes masked by the rice, and I wish they would care more of taste, rather than profit. Everything Ive ever ordered, lunch and dinner, has been fresh, and tastes as such, the service is also good, but yet again, they always dont get around to you fast, probably yet another way to make profit by letting the rice swell up in the stomach. The lunch price is $10.99, not too expendive for an all you can eat a la carte sushi place, and even their dinner price, $16.99 is justifiable to a point because they add items that you cant get in the lunch menu, and it would be what you paid for at a nice restaurant, All the sushi is available any time of the day, no matter if its lunch or dinner. Do be warned though, if you have a group of six or more, a 18% Gratituity charge will be added to your bill. I do hate any restaurant that does this, as gratituity (tip), should only be added if the server did good, if you add it to the bill, its part of the price, which defeats the purpose of a tip. Overall, good value, good lunch price, if the servers would be more attentive and the sushi had less rice, it would make a perfect sushi restaurant, such as those in Japan

We decided to start out the new year with Hokkaido this year and it continued, as it has in the past to be a fully enjoyable experience. We started off with a few appetizers each. Then we each had the hibachi steak and shrimp, which is very well seasoned and comes with traditional hibachi style veggies. We had several different sushi rolls off of the chefs special rolls page, and we were way too stuffed to entertain the idea of an after dinner ice cream that was offered pleasantly by one of the staff members assisting our table. All in all, including the bottle of saki that we split, the meal was around $50. A more than fair price for the amount of food ordered. The only resemblance to a buffet is that you can order whatever amount you can consume, but the correlation stops there. Everything was freshly prepared and made to order. The staff was attentive and made pleasant conversation, even though they werent busy and had to work on a holiday (every servers worst nightmare). We have been here a number of times over the last year and the food quality continues to remain the same! Hokkaido is well worth the drive across town!

The staff was very polite and service was prompt. BUT If you enjoy sushi, this is NOT the place for you. The sushi rolls here were very very very heavy on rice, primarily veggies on the inside and a TINY piece of fish. The meat of the sushi was extremely small. The manager walks around and looks at the plates of all the patrons. My husband cut about half the rice off each sushi roll so he could actually taste what was inside and he was told he would have to pay extra for not eating his entire meal, however I will add that we were not actually charged. If you are looking to fill up on an all you can eat buffet and dont care about the flavor or the portions then its an okay place, but if you enjoy the flavor and taste of sushi I would recommend not coming since you are paying $17/per person for rice.

The service is always very good. Since they are constantly bringing little dishes, it could really be unpleasant if they messed up the pace, but they dont. They are always removing empty dishes and there is no real delay in getting your next selection. The taste of the food is very good, and certainly equal to or better than any other Chinese or sushi restaurant. Each little dish you order is made for you, so fresh and perfect temperature, whether hot or cold. Its super fun to experiment and try new things! Since its a smaller sized portion you can share a bite with the family (we are three) then try something else. I love this because I would hesitate to order some of these sushi choices if I were paying for them and not sure I would really like them. For the sushi selections you do get six pieces.

If you havent been here yet and you like sushi- you need to try it!!! Its a sit still buffet. Basically you pay a flat fee ($16.99 per adult) and you get a menu with over 100 options. Appetizers, soups, salads, sushi, hibachi items and desserts. You pick what you want and they keep bringing it fresh to the table until you say your done. All they ask is that you actually wat what you order (being wasteful will cost you extra). The good thing is that they dont care if your sharing plates with everyone at your table. Its a great way to try different dishes and sushis your not familiar with. Ive been twice now and dont have any complaints. Oh- and you cant take things with you (like a to go box- like most buffets). :) enjoy!!

I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect at a restaurant. The "manager" approached my table and screamed at my friend, whose birthday we were celebrating, because she didnt eat every last bite of rice off her plate. So after this we all immediately stood up to leave and she then came back to the register to scream at my group one more time that resulted in her calling us bitches. I do not recommend anyone going there or contributing to an establishment that treats their customers in such an immature and disrespectful way.

Terrible. I would leave 0 stars if possible. I went in for the lunch buffet and only ordered 3 items total, the Salmon roll was terrible and inedible so I didnt eat about 6 pieces of it. The manager came over and tried to force feed it to me or she was going to charge me extra. She started a huge scene in the restaurant over absolutely nothing. I could understand if I had ordered 15 rolls and wasted 10 of them, but that was not the case. This was my 5th visit to this restaurant and I can promise that I WILL NOT GO BACK!

Great place to eat. Even if you dont like sushi, theres plenty of other foods to enjoy and you will get your moneys worth. They do warn if you waste food they will charge you, which was the only thing I was hesitant about going here, however, the portions they serve are relatively small and there is no great pressure. I think their main concern is, since it is all you can eat, someone would order too much and then not touch anything on their plate. Very nice staff and a great atmosphere.

Really good sushi for a great price. Here is how it works: you order food as much as you want (up to 3 sushi rolls per one order) and they being it to you. As you are eating can order more (again up to 3). The amount of rolls you get doesnt make the price go higher but you must finish all the food or you will be charged penalty. Excellent business model. Their lunch special is the time to go. Its somewhat hard to find but it wil defiantly be worth it.
