The atmosphere at santa fe reds is great, especially the seating outside. However where the atmosphere excels, the service and food cannot make it up. I am not a picky eater by any means but the dinner I got there was worth about 2 bites. When the waitress came around (finally) to give us the check, she noticed I hadnt eaten any of the meal. After I turned down the offer for a box I guess she forgot to ask how the meal was or ask what was wrong. I said " you know I never complain about food but this was really not good." She gave me a blank stare so I just when on to tell her why. Nothing rude, even my girlfriend agreed, just very matter of fact. She then says "ok" and walks off, and that was it! A few minutes later she came back with the credit card slip and said, "have a wonderful night." As we walked out feeling a little shocked by the ordeal, we saw our waitress slumped at the bar holding her cheek up with a folded hand. In all my years eating out I can honestly say this was the most disappointing experience I can remember.

The entree was absolutely awful. Such a waste of $37. The only thing worth eating were the chips and salsa that came free as an appetizer and the lemonade that I ordered. My date and I both ordered a taco combo platter. First of all, it took forever to get the food. We finished the appetizer and waited for probably 40 minutes, which is stupid considering they werent busy and it was just a couple tacos. Second of all, when the food Did come, the mashed potatoes were runny and gross. They ran all over the plate and soaked the taco shells and beans in pitiful instant mashed potatoes. The cheese I paid a dollar extra for amounted to maybe 10 little strands of half-melted disappointment. The only edible thing on the plate was the meat, which was actually pretty good, but there was hardly any of it. All in all, I expected a lot more for $15 bucks a plate. Qdoba or any other fast-mex restaurant is way better than reds as well as being a lot cheaper. Wouldnt recommend the place.

I went into Reds last night. It was a total joke. I was greeted poorly, I sat at the bar. It was about a third full. I knew the bartender was overwhelmed. I was a local bartender myself So i sat there with understanding, to a point. I was ignored for over 5 minutes with the bartender right in front of me. He then looked at me said" Im super slammed", I said I understood. I waited , then two seperate parties came to the bar. He then went to them wiped the bar handed both parties menus. I still was sitting sticky bar, no menu, not even glass of water. I said "I would like a menu, and i was here before both those parties." He said, " oh I know...Sorry" I said Im leaving, His reply: Classic... " yeah man maybe next time" I talked to the manager after that.. her reply was, " sorry, I told you not to sit in the bar" WOW! Im going to call the general manager today to see if this gets any better. Stay tuned.

Unfortunately we were shorted our sides and salad with a takeout order last night. Cost nearly $40 for one burrito and six taquitos. The food was okay, but I had to wait at the empty hostess stand for 5 minutes before anyone came up. Both bars were also empty and three staff walked by me and others in line behind me many times. This was at 7pm so really have to wonder why the entire staff was not at their stations at rush hour (there were over a dozen empty tables). They werent even that full and there were several waitresses who were busting their bums but no one else was around. Really unsatisfying food and service, so likely wont be back. Manager should be made aware also that I tried to call both last night and today and was brushed off because they "were in a rush". We were in a rush last night too and did not get all of our food. No wonder all of their other locations keep closing.

I love southwestern food and have eaten here before and tolerated it. Its not horrible food, theres just nothing special about it. However, the people I was with wanted to eat here so we did. I ordered the beef fajitas. Cold tortillas, a pile of onions and peppers with bits of gristle that I assume was the beef part. On top of that we ordered 2 chicken quesadillas and two kids meals. The waitress apparently did not want to be working that night because on the rare occasions we saw her she was rude and short. Our bill somehow came to 60 dollars. I tipped 5, which is low. I typically tip around 20%. You really have to mess up to warrant less than 15%. Two days later our bank statement showed 75 dollars had been charged... I think thats called fraud. I will not eat here again and recommend it only to people who enjoy being defrauded after being rudely fed a meal I wouldnt feed my dog.

We were told told by a staff person to seat ourselves in the bar area which we did. I have an 8 month old child who was not crying but making happy sounding exclamations because he liked the guacamole. Our server came up and suggested that he color, again he is 8 months old. Then she asked if there was anything else she could do to "calm him down" and that people were complaining. I responded by saying hes a baby, babies make noise to which she replied I would have been happy to seat you in the family area even though we were told to sit where we were seated. I have never had an experience where I was shunned for being a mother. The waitress, from Shelby, was super unprofessional and rude. I would not reccomend this place to any one.

My brother is 22 years old & visually impaired & yes Ill admit he looks a little young...well I ordered an alcoholic drink for him while he was in the bathroom. The waiter came back with the drinks & watched me pass it to him...he says "you do know that has alcohol in it right?" I said "um yes I did know that thank you". So to my surprise he just walks away & sends the manager over...so Im thinking okay card him whatever, but without even carding him he says "Im sorry I cant let him drink that". By this time I was very upset. I said "he is old enough!" & guess what...all he says is "oh okay Im sorry"...STILL DOES NOT CARD HIM! Dont judge a book by its cover & next time if youre so unsure...CARD HIM! We will not be returning.

Used to be great - Ive been coming here since the late 90s and had a good bearing on the menu and flavors; we would even bring it in for conferences and events at work. Lately the menu changed a lot and the food is not very spicy, flavorful or interesting. Tonight they asked if I wanted the hotter salsa and I said "yes" and then they returned and said they didnt make any today....??? Had to remind the servers of forgotten items and send a dish back that was half prepared. They took the sopapillas off the menu, too - a cardinal sin for a Mexican restaurant....
