The food quality and atmosphere do not match the price point. We were the last two seated at our table and arrived as the orders were being taken. We had no time to read the menu and our drink b order was not taken. The waitress came back and got our drink order, but the soup and salad were served before I have anything to drink. There was a gluten free person at our table who mentioned that last time his was cooked in the kitchen. Both his rice and meat were cooked on the table grill. His rice was cooked first with the special soy, so it was probuly ok. The meat was cooked on the same grill, without cleaning it, after the soy containing gluten was used to cook everyone elses rice and veggies. The temperature of the restaurant was uncomfortably hot and humid. We will not be returning.

First and last time customer. Went to lunch with the wife. Having sushi all over the world myself.. This place was overpriced for the small portions. We were the only customers and the chef was in no hurry at all. Took 45 minutes for 3 sushi rolls, 2 were good sized, but the most expensive of the 3 was so small! (Rainbow roll). I ordered 3 different types of the nigiri as I normally do anywhere. Sad sad portion size, I HAVE NEVER SEEN NIGIRI SO TINY. The rice pad was about the size of a pinky finger nail. Very disappointing. In short, high prices for such small portions. Paying that bill was painful considering what little we were served.

Celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary. Service was good but food was disappointing. Soup was tasteless, the ginger dressing in the salad was watered down, even the yum yum sauce was watered down. We were more disappointed when they passed off cheap steak for filet mignon as if we did not know the difference! Lastly, we paid extra for a special addition which included a song and a tiny, skimpy peace of cheesecake that we had to share. The restaurant charges full prices but finds ways to cut things in half. We had salmon that was cut in half to less than 4 ounces. I hope the owner realize this is not good business!

I was an out-of-towner visiting Harrisonburg for the first time and checked out a few different sushi places in the area. Kyoto was the best I have found here. They had a good selection of fish and and even better roll selection. I personally enjoyed the Wasabi Roll myself. The sashimi was very good as well. However I have one complaint. I felt the rice they used was not the best for sushi. It was too large for my liking and seemed to over power the flavor of the roll. Add up the variables, I suspect this place will provide a great experience for you.

The restaurant was very clean. The people were very friendly and helpful. It was my husbands birthday and he wanted a particular cook and.even though that cook or chief was with others they were very understanding and told us we could wait if we would like so we did. We have been back back several times and we have taken our kids to so the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get!!! I would refer to anyone!

Go during lunch to get a good deal on sushi. Very disappointed in my latest visit. There was no seating for the grill so my family and I opted to sit at the general tables. We were fine with this option because we were glad to see the restaurant booked. We were seated and nobody came to serve us. Two familys were seated after us, received menus, drinks, and had their order taken. We left without anyone coming to serve us.

Food was awesome! Just so happen when we went they had a special.... Chicken, Filet, and Shrimp for 24.99. They chef took a long time to come out and start cooking, but he made all that up with his funny jokes and his magic tricks with the food. The portion of food was enough to eat there and take some home. He really interacted with all of us at his table. When i visit Massanutten Resort again i will definitely eat here.

Poor tea selections. Poor service, our waiter burned the menu on the stove and put his fingers in our salads and drinks. the sushi was bland at best, officially the first time I have had to salt sushi to make it taste better. The hot sake was lukewarm at best. The chef did more dancing than cooking, he scared a kid at our table by getting the two pronged fork 4 inches from his face, on his birthday.

I love the way the guy who was doing the act was funny and nice the whole time.It was my first time at the place and I heard that they did the acts so me being myself I recorded it (because it was really cool) and unlike most people he was fine with it , he actually wrote my name in rice and took pictures with me when I volunteered to help for a magic trick, everyone here was very kind 100/50 stars

Most of the time that we come here we have a great time. The chefs vary in skill level in terms of the show they put on from hilarious and energetic to not quite there. As with most this steak house cold on a grill that you sit around, flashes and tricks are all part of the experience. Reasonable sushi menu, reasonable prices for children. Each main course includes salad, and soup

I made the mistake of eating here for Sushi (as opposed to the teppongyaki or "hibachi"). Aside from the low hanging fruit (spicy tuna, California roll) the sushi is lifeless, bland, and at best not rancid. The tepid, weak green tea amazingly is $2.25/cup which is much more expensive PER POT at other places. Perhaps the cooked food is passable but the sushi is not.

Amazing food and friendly staff. My bf and I went while on vacation and we definitely plan on going back every time we are in the area. We ordered from the hibachi and sushi menus and both were so delicious! We totally pigged out and the bill was worth the experience. If this place shows up as a nearby restaurant in your search...GO!

Another review claimed that they charge $3/chopsticks set - we ate there tonight (3-6-10) and asked, and this is NOT the case. Food was good - like any other hibachi place Ive been to. Not cheap, not overpriced either. I liked it - no problems.

Really nice sushi place to eat for a small town. Sushi was good. Wait staff got my shrimp tempura sushi order wrong then tried arguing with me that it was what I ordered. As a traveler just passing through this was still a good place to eat.

I go to Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse all of the time, at least once a month. My favorite entree to get off of the menu is the Ninguno gayo roll. It is so delicious, I recommend all of my friends and family members to come here all of the time.

I always have a great time when going to Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse and it has a lot to do with the fantastic staff at the restaurant. Everyone who works here are so friendly and provide the best customer service experience to their guests.
