My family and I had dinner from this place recently. The food I have to say is pretty bad. It reminded me of the place in church st (in manhattan). The food there is $4.95 (buffet!!!!) and the quality is pretty bad. But the price was affordable for many new yorkers and the place will be packed from 12-3pm. This place is pricey and yet the food is not good at all, overcooked and the spices are all over, its not the right proportions. I wouldnt go back. Then I visited Shalimar (which is the only other Indian retaurant in the area) the next night, and I have to say, I couldnt say which one was worse. It looked like both restaurants were fighting to get quick money without good service, food or cleanliness. Its a shame.

Was really hungry and ordered a chicken biryani for take out. It the worst food I ever had. Never gonna come back. Salt is the basic ingredient in Indian food. I have no idea what cuisine food these guys are making. Really disappointed. If possible I wouldnt give them even a single star. They asked what spicy level I want, I said hot. Felt like they sprinkled lot of raw chilli powder. I know running a restaurant is a hard job but its their basic responsiblity to make at least decent food, or something near to food.Shame on this restaurant. Hope India house restaurant takes this review seriously and start serving decent food.

Ive noticed this place tends to get pretty hit or miss reviews. I for one love this restaurant, but would recommend it mainly for lunch. Their lamb curries are my favorite, and they make some great naans. Their rice is fantastic, although probably loaded with butter (not really health food). I do think their Sunday buffet brunch leaves something to be desired, and their dinner is fine, but lunch is the best bargain. They will tailor the spice level of anything for you, just ask! Its also pretty easy to find discounts for this place in local coupon books.

Food is hit or miss... Ive had really phenomenal food there and Ive had just ok food there. Ive never, however, had good service. The last time I was there the waiter brought us our food, but didnt bring out the rice for 20 minutes later, and whenever we asked for a refill on water (which was often, as we like our food spicey) it was like pulling teeth... There were only two parties in there. I would get their takeout more often if it werent so expensive.

Definitely the best choice for Indian food in Burlington, VT. With the limited dining options available in this city, I recommend India house if you want to try out Indian dishes. Service and ambiance are OK. You will get buffets on the weekends which are nice. I like the different kinds of naans here say keema naan, garlic naan, onion naan, paneer naan etc etc.,. Dont try the hot beverages say tea and coffee here, they are bad.

Each time we go we have a really nice experience. The decor is not great, but we go for the food. During our last visit the staff brought out a special drink for our 1 year old, with out us asking, nice touch. The food is above average, and the cooks will prepare items which are not on the menu. I like this place, things could be improved but the price is right and the service is very good.

My family and I have been coming here for years. Often, we call ahead and order lots of naan to bring home with us and eat throughout the week. The owners are really what make this place so wonderful. The food is great! A word of warning, mild spicy is very spicy to me.

I would hesitate to recommend this Restaurant to anyone. I placed a delivery order over the phone. Naan we received was 80% burned with big hole on it (not edible), and complimentary rice was spoiled and had bad smell. It was definitely not fresh.

Yes, Im Olivers Dad (see Olivers review) but still, I have to say the food is excellent. Weve been eating there for years. Super friendly and laid back. Highly recommended for wonderful North Indian food - the owners are from near Amritsar)

I wont go again. The food was bad. They added something called sales tax and also took tips.I dont know what is this sales tax. It was a take home order. The order was missing one item but I was charged. I wont go again. Not worth it.

I routinely eat and get take-out for the great value. One of the best tasting and best priced restaurants in the Burlington area. I recommend asking for highly spiced food, as asking for lowly spiced can result in bland dishes.

My friends and I regularly go here and love the food. The service is always great and never have to worry about an unfilled glass of water with your spicy lamb vindaloo. You can order most of the dishes with varying spiciness.

50/50 either really good or pretty bad. Used to be better, years ago. The new owners are not friendly. Too bad, it used to have an excellent reputation and they have ruined it.

Worst indian food and service in USA. Period. Samosa was stale and refried... The aloo tikki could literally bounce off the floor if it rolled off the plate. So bad!

Horrific experience. Ordered chicken Biryani and it didnt have any salt and the spice level was crazy that I couldnt even finish 10% of the dish.

Big fan of India House. Our group tried about 15 different things on the menu and every one of us was happy with our meal.

Pretty sure there was actually no cook on board for the evening. Food presented as heated-up leftovers.

Best restaurant in town, by far. Excellent portion sizes, tasty food and the paneer kulcha is amazing.
