Ive lived in Danbury for 9 years and never knew about this restaurant until the other day. A very, quaint and unassuming little nook in the middle of nowhere. Had the buffet on a Sunday. Ive eaten in many, many Indian restaurants back in NYC and queens..this place was better than Ive ever tried. While the spread was small, it had enough for everyone..vegetarian and meat-eater alike. This place is top-notch. The buffett was $13.95...a very, very fair price. They also brought a huge basket of naan, a piece of tandoori chicken and a dosa to the table.. The sambar was the bomb and the chicken tikka masala was like butter. The service was immpecable. Highly recommended for seasoned Indian food enthusiasts and newcomers..well done..keep up the good work..this place is a gem..Joe, Bethel, CT.

By far the best Indian restaurant in (Newtown) CT that caters to both south and north Indian cuisine. Excellent entrees, very well presented / plated, Courteous staff and a well stocked bar. For those who want to get the “authentic" taste of Indian cuisine, this restaurant is a must go. The Chicken tikka masala is simply to die for!! Hand ground spices are used in seasoning all the vegetarian, seafood and lamb dishes and the taste is truly heaven on earth. For those calorie conscious out there, low fat options available too. Extremely vegetarian friendly. Do not miss KOLAM!

Went there today with my family and it was absolutely delicious, literally the best Indian food I have ever had. I used to eat Indian food a lot when I lived in NYC and now its out of sight out of mind, but I had a craving and read lots of reviews of various Indian establishments in this area. Glad I chose Kolam because I will now be a regular customer. The food was supurb!!!! We had the buffet, awesome!!! The staff was beyond friendly. The whole experience was by far, the best experience I have had at a restaurant in ages.

Our first visit to this restaurant is horrible. Food is horrible. On our second visit, it was even more worse. It was mentioned that the kitchen is closed at 3pm. We were there at 2:35pm. They refused to take orders citing that they are closed by 3pm. The receptionist was rude. When we asked that the time is 2:35pm and why they are not serving, the receptionist said that they performing their duties as asked by the owner of hotel. Never go to this hotel..... Very very bad experience........

May be the food is nice but staffs manner is very bad... We reached restaurant at 2:40 PM and we were hungry... one of the staffs said we cant serve you if you want "to go" then we can pack for you.... It was so rough that we didnt think of going for "to go"...we just left from there and went to Olive Garden....as always Olive Garden was best in customer service... Though these guys(Coromandel) mention restaurant is open till 3.00 PM but their actual closing time is 2:40 PM.....

Wow. The indian food at Kolam was better than I expected. It was delicous. We had the chicken curry, lamb phaal and chicken masala. AMAZING. In the area, Ive only been to Thali in New Haven. I have to say I like the food better at Kolam, but the atmosphere better at Thali. Kolam is also less expensive. Like I mentioned, the atmosphere isnt as amazing as the food, but its pleasant, and fun time. I would def recomend this, and cant wait to bring friends and family back.

OMG! Sensory overload. I expected spicy food, but when you could smell your food 10 minutes before and 40 minutes after its served because of the intensity and multiplicy of the spices, that is way too much. The spices were so overwhelming everything tasted the same and nothing tasted like what it was supposed to. Chicken didnt taste like chicken and overall the experience was once that my daughter and I still remember as the most horrific culinary nightmare!!!

My first visit to Kolam this past Saturday. There were 10 of us, we ordered lots of appetizers to share, lots of entrees which we all shared. OMG I ate to much. The food was so good I couldnt stop eating. For desert I tasted the Mango icecream cheesecake and the chocolate cheesecake - I am still full. Great wait staff, great prices, and fantastic food! You gotta go there! Thank you to all the staff- you were so nice and service was great! Ill be back.

The food is incredible and the staff is even better. This is a place that I will go to again and again and again. They season and cook the food better than anywhere else that I have been. Everything tastes fresh. The customer service is outstanding. Each customer is greeted with a smile and seated promptly by the host. The wait staff are courteous, kind, always get the order right, are always smiling and are appropriately attentive.

We enjoy dining on the lunch buffet on a fairly regular basis. The food is always fresh. The decor is cozy but welcoming. Today we had lunch with a friend whose native country of origin is India. She vouched for what Ive always suspected. The use traditional whole turmeric, ginger, onions and other fresh ingredients can be detected in the tasty dishes.

We used to love Kolam but then the food quality kept slipping so we stopped going several years ago. We were recently near the restaurant and seeing that its recent reviews were good, we crossed our fingers and went back. It was horrible. The chicken tikka masala tasted like tomato soup and the poppadom was stale. Never going back.

This is quite a nice Indian restaurant in Newtown, CT. The food is usually of very high quality. The food has a slightly South Indian bias, though there is large selection of non-vegetarian food. We find the place good enough to go back from time to time. Like most Indian restaurants, the prices are slightly on the steeper side.

The food was delicious, no doubt about it, but the service was absolutely appalling. The level of disrespect and ignorance is completely baffling and the staffs behavior was far from admirable. Any waiter that is capable of being disrespectful to my sister and making her cry has absolutely no right being a waiter at all.

This is the best indian food Ive ever had. Ive been to several in this area, had it made homemade for me by friends from India, and used to go to many different places in Boston when I lived there... and still, this place beats the rest. Maybe only my next trip to NYC will find me something to compete with Kolam.

Decent food but childish front end staff. The gentleman working the desk is incredibly rude. God forbid they mess up an order or its like pulling teeth to get results. Conversation ended with him saying "FINISHED! FINISHED! FINISHED!" over and over again. Anywhere else youd be fired on the spot for this behavior.

This was one of the best experiences Ive had at an Indian food restaurant. The prices are so reasonable for the portions and quality of the food. Our server, Jonas, was so good to us. He made friendly conversation with a welcoming smile. I will without a doubt be visiting again and trying the buffet soon!

First of all, the one who serves has lot of attitude and he is not polite. 2nd thing food is below average, they just preheat twoday back food and give it to you. They doesnt even serve you water ... they snatch away menus even before you order.
