Sorry to say it, but this USED to be a great restaurant. Not service-wise, mind you; in that, they have always been arrogant and inattentive. But at least the food was superior, so that was why my husband and I decided to give it another go.... BAD IDEA. The food was horrible. Specifically, the tandoori meat was AWFUL. Their famous Tandoori chicken wings, usually crisp and savoury, came to us covered in gushy marinade that should have baked off in the tandoori. Then the lamb chops--what a joke! First off, they were MANGLED. I held them up by their little bones and the meat was like rags. (Chef Ramsay has apoplexies over food like this on his show, mind you....) And then again, the marinade (which is comprised mainly of yogurt, spices and tomato sauce, for those who dont know) covered the chops in a white, congealed mess. Tandoori oven? I dont THINK so. The waiter asked me how things were and I told him straight up. I cook Indian at home, and mine tasted more "tandoori" than those; QUITE OBVIOUSLY, THEY NO LONGER HAVE A TANDOORI OVEN. When I told him as much, he didnt bother to deny it. He did say that he was taking the lamb chops off the menu for the rest of the night, and he didnt charge us for one of the two orders, but imo they should be ashamed of themselves. The eggplant/chickpea/tomato dish was a bland mess. The basmati rice was good--I guess thats hard to mess up... In a word, unless you hear that theyve replaced the cook--DONT BOTHER! VERY expensive, too.

Why is the food so bad here?? It is neither imaginative nor authentic. We went for a quick weekday dinner and just ordered one curry with naan. The guy seemed inconvenienced by this, though only 2 other tables were occupied. The Andhra Chicken tasted like sambaar, to which tasteless pieces of chicken were added as an after thought. Terrible food, sub par service. I will have to be really desperate to go back. I am honestly surprised by the good reviews here because none of my Indian friends like this place.

Solid Indian food. Never too crowded on weekends. Not as good as Coromandel in Norwalk, but much better than most other Indian places in CT. On the setting Ill just copy and paste from another poster, that got it right: "It is wildly post modern with stainless steel walls and highly detailed wood carvings, but is built into the restaurant section of an old truckers motel that has been extensively renovated over the years, but it is, nonetheless housed in a motel. " So what? Its cool to look at.

The best Indian food Ive ever had! This is the first food review Ive ever written. Just moved to Ridgefield and we ordered on a whim. Havent had anything close to this good since my goto on the upper west side in Manhattan. Even that pales in comparison! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Thali! Will be ordering tons of takeout for years to come! Joe

Weve found a few favorite Indian restaurants and were prepared for some zing, but were knocked off the chart on this one! And wed asked for medium heat! Decor is tired but service is attentive and they want you to enjoy the experience. Food was very good - not stellar but well give it another go and see if we can select the right amount of heat.

Excellent food. Very friendly and courteous staff. The menu is clearly marked with gluten free options, and their website allows you to order online. They even have an app! The variety of recipes on the menu is interesting. I particularly like the lamb dhansak.

I would say its like an average Indian restaurant, definitely not the best. 5 stars for the Sunehri Bhindi (Must Try!) Thats what I always order. They need to really add more options in the menu...
