I think coming here twice in one week constitues as liking! Last Saturday, I was here for lunch and had a delicious omelette – bacon, onion and cheese with sourdough toast. The omelette was served piping hot with well done bacon as I had requested, and it was huge. This morning I came back and had to try the pancakes since they looked so good when I was here last time. I had the banana pancakes (short stack, which was plenty since they were each as large as the plate!) and they were fluffy, moist and had lots of fruit chunks in them. I had the butter served on the side which was a good decision. I also got a side of bacon which was sweet and crispy. Just remember they are cash only, and there may be a wait for a table since it was a full house both times I was there, but its worth it!

First time eating here.. food was great. Typical diner food; good flavor, not greasy. My 2 star rating is for how rushed I felt. I met my 86year old Nana here for brunch midweek. Not only was a box brought over to her while she was still eating but while we sipped coffee & chatted we were asked if we needed more coffee & when we replied no thanks we were told ok cause were real busy. I get that its a popular place but to have my elderly Nana rushed through her sandwich & then felt like she was being pushed out was just unacceptable. She eats a bit slow & wanted to chat with me. I was ready to leave a great tip for the servers patience, until being told numerous times that they are busy. Shame on you for rushing patrons. I wont my be returning.

The food is delicious. It is not too greasy. The coffee is great. The prices are fair - a little higher than I expect for breakfast. There is often a long line out the door. The waitstaff can be mildly unfriendly sometimes. And my wife likes an omelette with veggies and feta cheese and theyve messed up her order at least 4 times now by forgetting the feta cheese. Overall this is a good option for breakfast in Dedham. But my family really prefers going to Murphs Place in Norwood for breakfast. The food there is also delicious, prices are lower, and the wait staff is a lot friendlier.

Charm and good service! I honestly have to say this is my favorite restaraunt in the Dedham area. Due to all the construction, you never find a good restaraunt that has that charm to it anymore. The 50s diner has personality, and good food to back it up, along with good customer service. The main thing that concerns me is how packed it can get on a weekday around lunch time, plus there is no call ahead waiting. If you are looking for a nice place to get something to eat that isnt so expensive, get their early enough! :)

Food is simple, but good. They get lots of crowds, so make sure you get here nice and early. Bring CASH, they have an ATM with $2.00 fees inside the restaurant(probably make more money that way). But they do not takes cards so fair warning. They have good corned beef hash, great prices, and their black and white(Tuxedo) milkshakes are to die for. Locals eat this place up, its basically a staple of Dedham

A line out the door when we arrived, but pleasantly surprised to see how quickly the line moved! The staff are quick on their feet, and we had an awesome waitress. Note: make sure you arrive with your entire party, or they wont seat you. I loved their Texas style french toast, it was eggy and doughy and just so yummy, exactly how I like it. Prefect comfort food and breakfast selections, yum!

My favorite meal is what I call "Who Hash" and scrambled eggs! And if you want a frappe, well, this is the place to get one! Chocolate frappe, please! Back in the day, my mother would make fried dough on special occasions which was awesome! So, guess what? I can have it now every Saturday & Sunday at the 50s!! OMG!! This is the best and ONLY place for a wicked awesome breakfast :)

Good food, but they rushed us due to a line at the door. We were there a total of one hour and 15 minutes. It took 30 minutes to get our food. 30 minutes s to eat it, then another 15 minutes to get our check. The lead waitress asked us to leave so others could sit. We were on out way out anyway, but it was very rude service. She was also taking about use on our way out the door.

Im drooling just thinking about this place. Great everything. I always get the 50s platter and I can never finish it! They also have great shakes. Really not that expensive I believe the platter is under $10. Very quick service and fun atmosphere. The only not so great thing is its cash only. Im sure I would go even more often if they would take credit cards.

Great spot for breakfast and/or brunch. Prices are good and so is the food. The service is always prompt, but sometimes I have felt a little rushed as the line can get a little long, especially on weekends. Still gets 5 stars, been going since I was a little kid!

This place is exceptional and I enjoyed going with my dad on Fathers day. Portions were large (cant complain there) and I loved the atmosphere. Service was great. We got there about 20 minutes early and I found that to be a good idea line was huge even at 6:45am

get on your poodle skirt and whisk it down to the 50s diner for a truly 50s experience, with southern hospitality, butter, and milkshakes in good supply you will be leaving this diner satisfied and perhaps in the need of a bigger poodle skirt.

i used to love the 50s diner but feel as though it is now overpriced for what you get. and the coffee is horrible. the service is not the best either. i will go somewhere else if i wanted breakfast or lunch.

Speedy service, kitschy 50s decor are always on the menu at this cash only hoppin breakfast & lunch spot located in the popular Legacy Place area of Dedham. Theres a line everyday but its worth the wait.

The waitress are rude and lazy! They have been there far too long. Waited 15 minutes, never got a cup of coffee. They would rather chat and make faces when a customer asks for service.

Nice diner. Always very yummy food here. Often crowded with a line out the door. Cash only but they have an ATM now. I always order off the breakfast menu and outs always good.

Decent food, excellent atmosphere if youre a retro fan. Those around in the 50s will find this place fairly nostalgic. Downsides include an awful wait time and cash only bills.

Best food and service you will find anywhere. Well worth the short wait in line that can be there at busy times. Thank goodness they clearly posted the "cash only" sign.
