I have to agree with many of the reviews as far as the warm and relaxed atmosphere goes. The wait staff is always genuinely polite, kind, and attentive. I have had good luck in the past with spring rolls, and the vegetarian dishes. My last time there I had a chicken dish and it arrived a little cold and clammy, with very little taste and a funky smell. The chicken had a weird rubbery texture and was a bit dry all at the same time. I didnt eat much of it and plan on giving my left overs away to my sister....sorry sis! In regards to the food quality, I think it depends on what you order. Stick with the vegetarian dishes and you can avoid the mystery meats. I only rated it as "okay" because I have had luck in the past with certain dishes.

My wife have eaten at this restaurant many times, and have never had a bad experience. We have taken friends there, many from other countries, and they have enjoyed it as well. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, and is always clean and quiet, a great place to have a conversation. The staff are gracious and efficient. tonight we liked their potstickers in sauce, curried chicken, the East-West beef, and vegetable fried rice. All of the flavors were excellent; I really didnt want to stop eating. The portions were ample so that we had enough to take home for another meal or two. We have a lot of other options for Asian cuisine, but keep going back because there is hardly a place we prefer.

I lived in Japan for two years as a missionary. After hearing about East West Connection from almost all of my mission friends as "the most authentic" of all the restaurants in Utah offering ramen, my wife and I went and tried it. They were not wrong. This is the best ramen Ive had not only in Utah, but in the US (after trying places like Momofuku in New York and Jinya in Vegas). Great food, great atmosphere, extremely friendly staff and chef.

We heard that the Ramens there were authentic Japanese. Our group ordered 3 miso Ramens and 1 shiyo Ramen. The Ramens were fantastic. We had ramens in Tokyo last October and these Ramens were just as good if not better. We had Ramens at Kobes Japanese Restaurant and these were just as good except there was more food at East West. The owner is Japanese and provides good Japanese food as well as vietnamese food.

I found this place on google as i did not want to go to Indochine restaurant next to the U for my vietnamese dish. To my surprise, i thought their pho was good & have tried their vermecilli with chicken dishes & enjoyed that as well. This is a mom & pop restaurant & not the chain ones like Cafe Trang. Prices are reasonable, good portions along with great service. I love the colorful & exotic decorations too.

Man, oh man. Do I love this place! The prices are very reasonable and the ramen is very filling and delicious! It has some of the best chashu pork Ive had at any ramen place in Utah. They even have their special tonkotsu ramen if you request. Its one of the one places in the valley where Ive been able to find good mabo tofu. It seriously one of the best Japanese restaurants Ive been to.

I am wondering it there is a new owner or chefs. After years of loving this place, I have had to really bad experiences with recent orders. Sauces were wrong, fish sauce in veggie foods, chicken in the green soup but no mushrooms. There was old shrimp in the imperial rolls. All the dishes had the wrong sauces. I will try again but not happy

This is our go-to for take out at least twice a month. I love meeting people here for lunch good service and quiet atmosphere. Great menu selections - my standard order is east/west veggies, Bun of any kind and their soups are excellent especially when recovering from the flu. This is a consistent favorite for last 13 years.

Not sure if Salt Lake City is the best place to find authentic Asian food. The meal bland. I ordered the salted shrimp and asked for hot and I could barely taste any spice whatsoever. I then asked for hot sauce and that seemed really confuse the staff. Not all that great.

What a wonderful restaurant! Best ramen and wanton egg noodle soups in the area. The staff is attentive and so friendly. Never a problem getting a seat in the early dinner hours. We come here often and the food is consistently good.

The portions for takeout for so small and they give you kid sized portions for rice. The chicken also tastes like it was microwaved.. just terrible. I was not happy and I wont be going back.

Food is great! They also have authentic Japanese Ramens and Sukiyaki. the owner is Japanese and trained both Japanese and vietnamese cuisine. Try the Ramen, it is very good!

The Miso ramen was good. Im glad I added the corn because it added a nice sweetness. The egg was cooked pretty good, a little hard but pretty good.
