I was craving Asian food with my gf here in Tucson. I had just returned from Las Vegas few days ago and had poke bowl on the brain. We contemplated going to kimchi time but the last visit there was an annoyed memorable so we decided to try Obon sushi and ramen. I had been here once for a tinder meet and had the Obon Ramen Bowl which was tasty. So I recommended to my gf who is the local here to try it out since I recalled seeing a poke bowl here. Hostess greeted us immediately and we sat inside near the bar. Pleasant blonde bartender greeted us and I started off with I want my umami a Korean michelada which she described and sold me on. And my gf ordered a hot pot of green tea. I love the Korean style michelada which was served with a Hite can of beer and a shot of soju. I loved it. Very tasty and not super salty. Perfect. It has fish sauce in it and not tomato based but so so good. Friend was happy with green tea. Started off with the grilled short ribs (Koreans call it galbi/kalbi) which was delicious albeit the meet wasnt hot but we were hungry and I wasnt in a super picky mood. Served on top of a bed of Asian Creamy slaw which we ate up. I ordered the Rainbow

Sushi good for the price and the street noodles were delicious. The customer service is, however, what warranted my three star opinion. Tank tops and sandals adorned the patrons, Im overdressed. Host greeted us with a rushed urgency. Glancing between us and the wrist watch we were led to our table with "I guess I can squeeze you in before our next reservation arrives". Courtesy would dictate a statement only if we couldnt be seated, due to our lack of reservation, no? Furthermore, there lacked definitive regulation pertaining to table assignment. Throughout our meal we were greeted by so many faces I had no idea which was the server. The bartender was gracious enough to refill our water. Lastly, we were seated next to an employee. Not a huge distraction, but the conversation held with an admirer certainly was. Overall, I liked the food, wanted one server, and was generally occupied with the employee gossip. Coin flip as to who got the tip. Fingers crossed it was our bartender.

Great atmosphere, great location, friendly staff. Only small complaint I might make would be a limited roll/sushi menu (no unagi in the place, no caterpillar roll). But what we did get was phenomenal, as good as Ive had in Tucson - and better than some other places around the country Ive been to. And that was just the sushi. The standard Obon Ramen feeds two and is exactly what you think it is - Ramen noodles prepared properly and fresh. And theyre as good as you might think if you ever ate a packet of the cheap stuff from the store. Will come back and try the other interesting items on the menu! So good.

We had the opportunity to try this new restaurant in downtown Tucson. We had the Obon Ramen and Street Noodles. Both were very good, the noodles were more spicy than expected, but a little on the dry side. The green tea was very good with the toasted rice taste. which we liked. Our service was somewhat slow, but considering it was a busy night - it was understandable. The ambiance - nice and friendly. Excellent menu. Kudos to the owner Brandon, who we noticed serving up the dishes to the crowded restaurant. Plus: Prime location for Downtown Tucson. We will be back!

First time here. Warmly greeted by host and seated immediately in a nice outdoor area with good music playing at just the right volume. Very friendly and attentive waiter treated us right. Food and drinks were served quickly. Cocktails were great, iced tea was the best Ive ever had at a restaurant. Ordered sashimi dinner which was excellent, short ribs which were excellent but small portion, and house specialty roll which was fantastic. Prices are high, but not prohibitive, and the quality is definitely there. Will return.

Food was okay, not bad, but not especially good or outstanding. Proportions were good for the price, but the seasoning was overpowering. This isnt the best thing in a delicate Japanese dish based on raw-fish. Next time I might save myself the trouble of Downtown traffic and parking, and spend a few extra dollars at Samurai instead. No. Scratch that. If I went back Id try the ramen dishes and avoid sushi, nigiri, sashimi, and sushi bowls, but only if Im already in the neighborhood.

The atmosphere and views from the outdoor dining was great. The food was amazingly tasty, and the service was very friendly. We had the street noodles, the rainbow poke, and a couple of steam buns. The noodles were very good and quite delicious. I have been blessed to eat authentic poke in Hawaii, and OBONS poke was the real deal. Lastly, the steam buns were new to me, but I will definitely order them again next time. OBON is a gem in the new and improved Tucson downtown.

First visit here left a great impression. Sat outside on the gorgeous patio. Enjoyed a poke bowl, rainbow-style (salmon, tuna, shrimp, & all the veggies). The serving size was huge, came with more than enough rice, and the flavors were phenomenal. I also tried some chilled pear sake that was divine. Cant wait to return and try some of the sushi, perhaps ramen, though I admit, it will be difficult to not re-order the poke bowl.

The cold noodles were amazing, but they removed it from the menu :-(. Ramen is delicious, but wish there were more options other than pork, such as chicken, beef, or vegetarian. Heard the street noodles were good, but I havent tried them yet. Looking forward to trying the sushi next. Im Korean and love bim bim bop...theirs was ok. The flavor was good, but the meat came in thick chunks and tasted a little gamey to me.

Service was fine. Food was kind of gross. We got several kinds of ramen, some "street noodles" and soft shelled crab. They all had the potential to taste good but were missing the characteristic umami of good Japanese food and there was an off flavor that was pervasive through the dishes. My guess is they were using an oil that was spoiled or something. Very disappointing, although the cocktail I had was very tasty.

Muy buen servicio y excelente ambiente. El ramen tiene un aspecto medio y en cuanto sabor, no lo volveria a pedirlo, no digo que es malo, tal vez no es mi gusto. Regresare para solo probar sushi.

I have no idea why someone would give this place a bad review. The owners are doing everything right. food and cocktails are inventive and tasty. Staff is always extremely friendly and well versed in their products and menu items. Every foodie I know enjoys Obon. I try and swing by at least once every month or so. Every negative yelp comment Ive seen on this place is completely invalid.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE this place. Havent had adequate ramen since I left Japan. Everything I ordered (ramen, sushi, and fried gyoza) was AMAZING! The staff was very friendly. The location is perfectly placed downtown, and the facility itself is very upscale and neat. I recommend this place to all my friends and Im probably going back tonight! Try it at least once. You wont regret it!
