I was there with a group, so I was able to taste more items than if it was just the wife and I. I have never found so many items I didnt finish at one place. The short of it is that the miso soup was acceptable and the sake was good. Everything else was mediocre, bad, or Do Not Put In Mouth. The calamari. Had that look that says this came straight from a bag. It was not breaded locally. It was also large rings that were fried into rubber, and the breading had no flavor. The pot stickers were doughy with little flavor. The miso soup acceptable, but some odd flavor in the background. The dishes like Katsu Don were giant bowls of rice nobody could finish. The pork was covered in gravy so it was soggy instead of crispy. The spider roll easily had a half inch rice layer all around. It made it so you could hardly taste the crab. We, we switched to Nigiri. It was prepared with too much rice too. Plus the fish was dull looking and not good at all. Even the tobiko -- my favorite -- had so much rice and layers of seaweed wrapping with so little tobiko it was inedible. As I was removing rice from nigiri to try to turn it into something Id eat, I tasted it. Sushi rice is supposed to have rice vinegar and seasonings in it. It is supposed to have flavor. This was plain old unseasoned short grain rice, that was overcooked. Yuch. I wasnt expecting much when I came, but I wasnt ready for this level of awful. Even my wife spent the entire trip home recounting the levels of bad, and thats rarely something she does.

Ok. Lets start with the service since I have the least to say about that. The service was poor to say the least. I waited nearly 45 minutes for four sushi rolls and a combined 10 minutes for two water refills. That being said, lets move to the food. The best word I can think of to describe it is bland. I ordered the Mango Tango (recommended), the Cowboy Roll, Rainbow Roll (recommended) and the Godzilla Roll (Recommended). First the rainbow roll was luke warm (never a good sign with raw fish) and flavorless. The shrimp was tough and all I could taste was plain rice. The cowboy roll, I have no idea what it was supposed to be marinated in, but I again couldnt taste anything except for seasonless beef and rice. Next, the Mango Tango. What that even mango on it? I certainly couldnt taste it. I was especially excited for this one, but it ended up being a HUGE disappointment. Finally the Godzilla roll. This was the only one with flavor, though not nearly as good as other places I have tried. Since it was battered and fried I expected it to be at least warm like similar restaurants, but it was cold, very disappointed. I would never eat here again. May I suggest Asian Panda (my favorite near me) or Sushi Ya in Orem instead. Much better quality and FAR better prices. Also, what was with the skanky music? No offense to anyone who listens to it on a regular basis, but what kind of music (if you can call it that) is Ke$ha in a sushi restaurant?

My husband and I decided to go out to dinner, when we got to the restaurant and they let us know there was a 30 minute wait to get a table. We decided we would wait, so we had them put our name on the list. Once we got a table we put in an order for our drinks and an appetizer, we received these from our waiter fairly quickly. Right then we put in an order for our food. We watched as numerous couples around us ordered, received their food, ate, paid and left. And a new couples were seated, ordered, received their food, ate, paid and left!! After waiting AN HOUR AND A HALF we finally received our food. But nonetheless we were still unable to eat! My husbands food came out VERY COLD! When I went to talk to the host about this and let her know we had waited, watched couples come and go and then received our food cold. She informed us we would STILL HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE! After 10 minutes of back and forth they offered us 50% off-we didnt even eat 50% of the food!!! They had our waiter come over, who gave us a lecture of how he would lose his job if we didnt pay for the food we never ate!! All in all--this place has NO URGENCY, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND WILL FIRE THEIR EMPLOYEES IF YOU DO NOT PAY FOR FOOD YOU SHOULDNT BE CHARGED FOR! We will NEVER EVER go back! And we will not recommend Koi to anyone!!!

I worked at Koi Restaurant for about 3 weeks. I was a server and I would never recommend anyone to come to this restaurant ever. It was my first serving job so I wasnt really sure what to do or how to do it they had me waiting tables the second day however I was still technically and training and they dont pay for training either. Then on top of that they do a lot of it legal things that would get them shut down especially through the health department. The owner has very little care about his employees and is very rude if anything goes wrong the servers have to pay for it. They do things like wash and reuse the edible decorative pieces like their flower carrots on the side of your plate that nobody eats... Yeah they reuse those the servers get yelled at if they throw anything away so if you drop something on the floor you might as well pick it back up and serve it unless you want to pay for it or get yelled at, they allow minors to serve alcohol. Hardly any of the owners or higher ups speak English so if you have a problem or question they wont be able to answer it they just look at you like youre crazy... but yeah theyre not very sanitary they are use their Edible decor theyre rude they dont speak English all people to serve alcohol under the age of 21 and theyre very very rude to their employees

Hated it! It took awhile to get a table and the restaurant wasnt busy at all. When we finally did get a table, we asked for a high chair and were never brought one. My husband had to walk to the back of the restaurant to get it himself. It took forever to get our food. Our waitress was nice, but she rarely checked on us. At one point we saw her and another waitress venting to each other about something while holding the water pitcher we were waiting for. When my sister and I finally got our food, the veggies were cold. I didnt want to send it back, because I didnt want to wait another hour for them to heat them. They added the tip to our check instead of letting me decide how much to tip. We got there at 6:00 and didnt leave until 8:20. I had plans at 8:00 that I missed because waiting for everything took that long! I cant believe I just gave that restaurant $60 for that horrible experience. I will never be going back or recommending this place to anyone. The ONE good thing was the candy bucket at the front. It had Japanese candy in it that Ive only been able to find in Japan. Still not worth it though.
