First time actually having hibachi style lunch or dinner (we went for lunch). I am not really impressed by the "shows" when it comes to food and I am quite impatient along with "bring the food" mentality. Its a good choice if you want to impress someone for lunch/dinner, but if youre hungry and wanting to eat, youre SOL. The service was pretty good given the fact that they werent that busy. On to the food, we ordered almost the whole menu, so I got to sample out almost all the variation for hibachi lunch. The sauce that they put out was decent. I prefer the spicier one because it actually has flavor. The scallop was cooked perfectly, but not flavorful. The lobster was overcooked and not fresh. I got the chicken terriyaki, but they added mushrooms which Im not use to at all. Im not a fan of regular mushrooms and only prefer oyster, enoki, and shiitake so needless to say, I didnt even touch the mustrooms that came with the chicken terriyaki. The terriyaki sauce was probably house-made and really sweet. I rather they just do the store bought kind which will be pretty consistent and straight-forward. My coworker and I agreed that Ichiban is in fact better and slightly cheaper. It will be my first and last coming here unless my other coworkesr would like to come again.

Mediocre to poor is the best overall description of my visit the evening of 8/13/14. The service was not only slow, but they forgot to serve us the soup, which we had to remind them about it about 3 times. Then the so-called chef didnt make enough rice for all 7 of us so we again had to remind them about it and eventually they brought the white rice after we were almost done with dinner. The couple of times I tried to bring this to the attention of the hostess, she kept nodding but saying "pay me, pay me, pay me". Obviously the establishment wasnt interested in rectifying the problems; the hostess just wanted our money. So, after spending over $24 on forced gratuity for a very poor service, I asked the hostess if she would want us back and she shrugged her shoulders basically saying she didnt care either way. Well, I guess me spending over $172 for dinner isnt of significance for them, so not only my family and I will never go back to this establishment, I greatly caution any other potential patrons from going to this establishment. We absolutely love this place. The hibachi chefs are always friendly and clean-looking. I hate it when someone cooking my food looks dirty. That is definitely not the case with the chefs here. Ive never been to the buffet section so I cant critique them. The food is GREAT. My mouth waters just thinking about it (Im a greedy ass, I know). And let me just tell you that you never have to wait around to ask for a refill cause there are a line of men standing around that remain on top of that (and of clearing dirty dishes out of the way). Theyre awesome. You will not have to "ask" for a refill at all. The chefs are true performers too. They have awesome tricks they demonstrate while cooking. My small children love it! Very exciting, funny and entertaining. They are pricey, but that is to be expected with this kind of quality environment. Go! And Bon appetit!

Terrible management and customer service. We reserved the party room one week in advance for 16 people for a birthday celebration. The girl that took the reservation called me back to say she over booked..ok, lets change the time. She gave me two other time slots.. I chose one and let my party know. We had attendees from Houston who made special arrangements to attend. Two days before, I called to add 2 additional guests and the manager said he didnt see my reservation?! Ok, it was just mispelled by the girl that took the reservation, no big deal. The day of the celebration I received a call ONE hour before saying we need to move your reservation later, the party before you arrived late! NEEDLESS TO SAY WE TOOK OUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. Why did they get preferential treatment?

I was meeting friends here and accidentally walked into the hibachi place next door. The difference between Samurai Japanese Steak and that depressing scene was night and day. Samurai Japanese Steak had a really good energy and overall was pretty damn good. Entertaining chefs making fires explode everywhere. One guy threw rice at us the same way I throw treats at my dogs. I enjoyed it. We got some appetizers, sushi (its alright), and some steak. Got mine rare and it was the best Id eaten all week. Price was fair, a little pricey, but not too expensive. You get what you pay for.

Best sushi in the Bay Area!! Their Hibachi is also awesome, especially when you have guests in town. That said, when it is just us, we go for Sushi! Their Zero Sea roll is stunning: yellow tail tuna, avocado, cilantro, misago and crispy garlic--topped with tobiko. Our other go-to roll is the Nasa Roll: deep-fried yellow tail, spicy mayo, topped with spicy kani and avocado. Paired with a couple of Kirin Ichiban and you have the perfect meal! Attentive staff, but not over-bearing. For dinner, get there early, as they do get busy.

I was very impressed. After reading the reviews I was worried, but the food was quite good. My parents had hibachi and loved it. The chefs dont just put on a show, they actually took care that food was prepared right and well seasoned. My wife and I are sushi junkies. The sushi was also quite good and servings were generous. The service was excellent. Family friendly and spacious too. I highly recommend this place.

When we showed up there were two people in the entire restaurant. We were told that our party of four couldnt be seated until everyone has arrived. I understand that policy when space is at a premium, but when the entire restaurant is empty except for 2 chairs you make an exception. Im standing in the lobby waiting for the other couple to arrive and my feet hurt.

Awesome sushi rolls. Special roll you gotta ask for is the hybrid roll. This is a full on habachi place, where they cook your meal for you in front of your face. Its cool, but for those not into that there is bar seating and ta ble service if you dont want to eat communally. I always get the surf n turf, filet mignon with sea scallops. Out of this world!

This was first time me and my wife ate at this place. The experience was very exciting and a jubilant family friendly atmosphere. It is similar to other hibachi grill types we ate at before but for a Saturday night we did not have to wait for a spot to sit even though the place was packed. We will definitely try this place again in the near future.

I love Samurai, however today has been pretty bad. I ordered to go orders. 1 of them was hibachi and the chicken fried rice was not good. New chef? The 2nd order was sushi, I wish I could post a photo. Theres still skin on both sides of my fish. I can even eat the meat, thats barely there. Get it together Samurai. I hope next time is better.

Super awesome service and food. The sushi is always fresh and amazing. They have rolls that no-one has. I have been going here for over 8 years and I have had some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. The sashimi is served on ice. It keeps it the perfect temperature till you are ready to eat it. I highly recommend this place.
