Tonight we thought we were going to have a wonderful dinner for my daughters 14th birthday which changed soon after we walked in the door. First we waited an hour and a half for a table after we had reservations @7 pm. Second our poor waitress must have been new so may not totally be her fault but service tonight sucked. I understand that they all need tips but when it takes 25 minutes to get our food order and 15 minutes to bring back beverages there is a problem. Third we all complained about our tips which (per the Manager Chris Smith its a state law to leave a certain amount) there was absolutely no reason to leave a 20% tip per couple and there were 12 of us. When we confronted the manager in his Salmon colored pants (hard to take him serious) he said to one couple with us "You shorted us a dollar" really after the service we just got. To top it all off I told 3 people it was my daughters birthday, do you think she got sang to on her special day....NO! We wont be going back anytime soon. The only good thing from our experience tonight was our cook, Dai, he was very personable, interacted well with all of us, made us feel special and cooked a wonderful meal.

Although the chef and waitress were great, the rest of the experience was not good. First, some of the other people at my table had to send their drinks back repeatedly because they were not properly mixed. The bartender herself was rude to several patrons, and the bar manager was rude to the point of being belligerent. When this was brought to the attention of the assistant manager, she came off as indecisive and incompetent in trying to deal with the situation. The head manager was initially going to talk to me, after I requested their involvement, but they then refused to speak to me or get involved. The following morning, I and the other three people with whom I dined were all ill. I do know I paid a lot of money for mediocre food, rude/incompetent staff, and an upset stomach. I will not go back, and would not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to pay top dollar for a sorry experience.

I was wary of this place after reading the other 2 reviews (went with cash based on the one about credit card problems) , but I was pleasantly surprised. We went for dinner - There was a wait for the Hibachi tables, but we were able to get right into the regular seating. The decor and atmosphere is excellent. They had a good selection of items from their kitchen as well as lots of good sushi and maki options. All of our appetizers were good and came out in a timely manner. Our waitress and the other staff were very friendly and did a great job, although you could tell they were still getting used to it (they opened about a week ago I think). The food was very good - I really liked my Binto box. Everyone enjoyed their food, although someones eggplant was a little tough. If I were to try to nitpic, it was pretty cold in there, but thats most restaurants unfortunately. Definitely recommended.

Visited this restaurant from out of town to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday. Could have went to 1 of the 5 hibachi grills that are local to me, but wanted the day to be special so we traveled 2 hours to spend the afternoon shopping in Tyler & dinner @Yomato. The server was inattentive to say the least. Our glasses were empty most of the dinner. We had to ask for refills from another server. Our ramekins for the sauces werent placed out for the cook, so we didnt get any sauce until nearly everyone had finished eating even though it had been asked for numerous times. We told the server it was my daughters b-day. It was also someone elses b-day at the grill seated with us. The other guest dessert was brought out. After about 15 minutes had went by, nothing had been done for my daughter. The server forgot! Seriously?!! We had to go find her. We will not return here.

We were planning to go to another restaurant but since that particular restaurant was only up till 8, we proceeded to YAMATO. The Lobby looks good and we were seated right away. We ordered Springrolls for our appetizer and it took at least 30mins before it got to our table. by the time we were almost done with the appetizer, the manager noticed that we didnt have plates for it so thats when he came over and gave us plates. Then it took another 25mins before my Steak Yaki-Udon was delivered which was too salty then I had to follow up on our other order which didnt come with my order so thats another 10mins before we could really start dinner. By then we were so hungry!!! I DONT RECOMMEND YAMATO.

We went there as a group for lunch. The food was good and quick. Then it all went downhill. We all payed individually. The waitress somehow mixed up all of our cards and charged the wrong food to the wrong cards. Horrible mess, it took us 45 minutes to get it straightened out. Then today I check my bank account and had over a 300 dollar charge from the place. After going down there and talking with the manager it turns out there waitress gave herself a 293 dollar tip. This happened to me and another one in the group. So great food, just bring cash. Still awaiting money to be credited back!

I wasnt that impressed by the food to off set the failure of service. We were a party of 11 so it wasnt that big. Our server never pay attention to who ordered what therefore 3 people didnt get their whole orders. I never got my salad and the person next to me ordered a sushi plate and was charged for it but it was given to someone else on the table who thought it was what they ordered. Overall the experience was not enough to make me want to go back. EDIT Added a pic of the salad i got to go since it didnt come with my meal. Not impressed.

My husband and I can only afford to go out a couple of times a year. Sorry we wasted it here. The atmosphere was good. The service was also good. The food was the worst we have ever had. The appiteizers (California Roll and the Cucumber Roll were so dry you could not swallow them. The soup was lukewarm and gross. We also had the teriyaki steak which tasted like unseasoned boiled Fahita meat. The sauce was so bland. We had two drinks (which were wrong) and dinner a total cost of 75.00. Wish we had stayed home.

Worst restaurant in Tyler they had beer special and no beer we had. 545 reservation sat down and waited 45 minutes for drink and sushi order we watched several tables come and go and were informed they had 2 cooks and we would be waiting till they finished cooking 2 walking tables that filled over 30 minutes after our arrival. This is the lowest form of customer service I have ever seen in my life. I will never return and advise all to stay away Tyler has too many great places to eat.
