My family went to Cafe Kranzler last weekend to celebrate my grandparents 61st wedding anniversary. Three months prior, they ate at the restaurant and reserved the back room for the occasion, due to wanting quiet and proper lighting for my grandparents comfort. They also spoke to the owner personally to request and book the room. When our whole family showed last weekend to eat, they had given the room away to a different party. My grandparents were so upset. They had SPECIFICALLY requested that room THREE MONTHS prior. Instead, they set us up at the very front of the restaurant, where it was very noisy and we were interrupted by other people waiting to be seated. I am so outraged by the treatment of the staff to my family for this occasion. The two ladies who were seemingly in charge kept throwing each other under the bus for the error and neither one of them really apologized. At the very least, you would think someone would own up to the mistake and offer our family a bottle of wine or dessert on the house. No, they avoided our table all night. The only positive note was that our server tried to make up for how we were treated by being very kind and attentive. However, Im so horrified by how we were treated, I never wish to dine there again. Please spent your money elsewhere.

We walked in about 930 Sunday morning to a seemingly dead resturant (maybe 5 out of 25 tables had been sat). She asked if we had reservations (for what). After her trying to convince us that we couldnt sit inside without a reservation we went to the patio. No umbrella. Terrible service. A family that was on the patio before us got really bad service they got there food probably a plate every 5 min. Just awful pretentious service. The guy told the family (Im a people watcher) he said Im just gonna put these plates in front of who ever well figure out where they go later. Mmm ok. If you dont make a reservation Im sure youll have the same experience. As far as the food well they said they were too busy to make the first dish my girlfriend picked. What?!? So we ordered something else and it was delicious. If hadnt been for the brain dead wait staff I would have been pleased. Good food decent pricing if you know anything about south padre its that your gonna over pay for everything.

The worst experience ever! The OWNER ruined my sisters Bachelorette dinner party. I have never experienced an owner or a restaurant having a problem splitting checks for a large party, she was so upset that we needed separate checks. My sister (the bride to be) ordered the crab ravioli and politely told the waitress that it was undercooked, the waitress had an attitude about taking it back. She came back and told her the chef said she had to order something else so she ordered the spicy tuna salad. When it was time to pay the bill my sister was billed for the crab ravioli! And when she questioned why she was paying for something she didnt eat the "OWNER" told her she can pay for both! I told her she was only going to pay for the salad then she told us if she doesnt pay for the crab ravioli she would call the cops on us and then got into a screaming match with the guest at our dinner party...I would never go back, even if it was the last place on earth to eat at

Have you ever seen how blueberry looks after being forgotten in a fridge for a week? It’s all wrinkled and covered in a thick layer of white mold. Well, that’s what I’ve got in the fruit plate ordered for my daughter. And not an occasional one-two berries, but all good handful of them. I was surprised twice. First, that café with reportedly “best gourmet food on the island” (quote from one of many positive reviews that tempted me to try Kranzler) keeps badly expired fruits in the fridge (hopefully in the fridge). And second, that cook was either blind or impudent enough to serve it. Good thing, though, that berries probably weren’t even washed, so all the mold and decay was very noticeable. After my complaint, the fruit plate was replaced to the one without berries, and not included into the check, but the lunch was spoiled. Neither me nor my wife finished our meals, and upon return to the hotel, we’ve eaten a few pills of activated charcoal – just in case…

Not really sure how to begin this review. I found this place using the Places app and read a few reviews claiming it to be "a must stop when traveling through SPI" (Im paraphrasing a bit) and like in a seperate review upon arrival we were asked if we had reservations. I replied no so the gentleman went to see if they had an available table, mind you there were but 4-5 tables sat in the dinning room much of whom already had there food. The atmosphere seemed nice but took about 15-17 min after getting seated for the "server" to come by to tell us "Ill be right with you". Now Ive waited tables for 5 years so Ive been around the block. to paint an accurate picture here for you folks it isnt your traditional restaurant like a Cheesecake Factory, BJs Brewhouse, or Perrys. The server was dressed in casual clothing (dark blue polo, jeans, and Puma sneakers). Im just gonna save you guys thr trouble of wasting your time here.

I went there for my anniversary I made reservations so when I walked in I was seated right away they put us in a quite corner at at nice candle lit booth with fresh flowers. The waitress was very nice and the chef is amazing taking real pride in making the food each plate was a work of art and taste jus as good as it looked. This restruant is underrated in my opinion, it should have a dress code for how fancy the food that is served there and taking reservations only, so Im sorry about the people that didnt have the same experience as me and posted a bad review but you were probably the person in gym shorts and sandals and to lazy to pick up the phone to make a reservation. This place was hands down the best place in south padre to wine and dine or jus to go to eat the best prepared and tasting food around!

Service needs improvement!!! Walked in and we were the only people in the wait to be seated area. Instead of asking if we had reservations, the hostess / waitress decided she would walk by the table right in front of us four times telling us she be right with us each time. 10-15 minutes later I guess we had earned the right to receive her attention, only to be told she couldnt seat us and that we should come back another time. Ha ha ha, sure after that experience Ill come rushing back and so should you. After all if the food is good who cares how bad the service is. As for me and my money, Ill save it for places that earn it.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here while vacationing in SPI with our family. We both consider ourselves "foodies" and thought our dinner was absolutely spectacular! We highly recommend the cucumber roll salad, the Parisian mac and cheese, and the hot apple pie dessert. These were the best items we had, but the entire dinner was fantastic! This is a must if you are looking for a great culinary experience while on the island! We will be back next time we are here!
