Staff seems to not care about customers. We went for dinner here and when the waitress asked if I wanted "Soup or Salad" with my meal, I assumed it came with it which was why she was asking. She never mentioned that it cost extra, but I found that out at the end when I got my bill with that extra $3.40 on it. The salad arrived and looked very good, but I stopped eating the salad a few bites in because I kept encountering small bone like bits which were unpleasant to encounter and then fish out of my mouth. It was most likely overly crunchy crouton parts but since I wasnt able to chew threw them I just left the whole thing alone. The waitress never asked about the salad and why I ordered it but then never ate it. I didnt want to complain while out with friends so I called the business the next day to tell the manager about the issue because I feel like customers should know if extra charges are being added to their bill. Also not asking about the food I ordered but didnt eat struck me as something that could also be improved upon due to the perception it leaves. The manager was busy, so they took down my name and number and said he would call me back. He never did. I figure he just didnt care, like the waitress.

Very nicely appointed interior. Probably the most well done of the all the Lion & Rose locations. Fireplace and central bar at the entry with wood paneling throughout. Ordered the fish and . . .macaroni; no charge for the substitution but wish I had gotten chips. Crispy plank of cod served with remoulade sauce and cheesy macaroni. Nothing wrong with that, right. Well, the fish was very good as usual, but the remoulade did not have its usual zip. It had a lackluster taste and a flavor of pimento cheese in the sauce. Not exactly my cup of tea as it tasted nothing like what I remember having at some of the other L&R locations . . . and they have no tartar sauce! Guess I will have to stick to the malt vinegar. The mac had a bacony flavor and lots of stringy cheddar cheese with a Guiness overtone. It really needed salt and again did not taste as good as what I had had previously. Noted that prices have gone up on the two plank fish and chip plate, but is still reasonable for the $7.99 one plank lunch special. Liked the ambiance and the food overall, the remoulade and mac notwithstanding. Wait help had her game on!

Ive been to several lion and the rose puns here in San Antonio including this one on multiple occasions the food and the drink is almost always good but the service can be a little hit or miss. You get a good server one time and its top notch and then the next not so much. I think a chunk of this is down to management. For instance my last visit to this location is was with a large group that had reserved the back room, we had about 40 people and the management assigned one waitress and the new apparently assigned her 4 other tables on top us. Needless to say it didnt end well. We ended up waiting almost 30 minutes for checks and several peoples food was just wrong. The waitress didnt handle it well but at the end of the day that was really on the management. They had no one step in to help her even after it was clear she was in trouble.

I like Lion & Rose a lot, this location doesnt really have the tavern feel though, more like satellite location that doesnt remember its identity. Just telling it as it is. Despite that, the food that was brought out was especially good, and the management there is very friendly and responsive after making a couple of mistakes on our order. Definitely appreciated that. Last I went, I tried their burgers for the first time, tried the Jameson Bacon-Cheddar, it was far better than what I expected. It was delicious and went well with their mac and cheese. Cheers.

If you like sports and drinking this is your place. If you want food, avoid it. First visit had the beef skilet, robery beef wirh 3000 calories of unnecessary whatever. Stoped a second time to watch a game and thought be safe with ckicken with pene pasta. Asked waitress for "al dente" pasta , she had no clue what it was. After I explained she said it wont be a problem. Pasta was a horrible "mush" with invisible chicken. $15. Like I said , eat somewhere else before you meet friends to watch a game and have a drink.

We ordered bread pudding with ice cream, and then got no ice cream. Server was asked again, and she forgot. She finally brought it out. She said she would comp the ice cream. That was fine. Then we ordered more drinks and then I saw a little German cockroach crawling on the seat behind my friends head. I was disgusted. We flagged down our server again, she went to get a manager. No one came back after 15min of waiting. We left. Ill be calling to get the pub inspected.

This is a BRITISH pub, and I felt like I was in the UK as soon as I sat down. The food is what youd expect in the UK. (UK foods tend to be bland and filling). The atmosphere is relaxed - people dont rush meals in the UK, and service in this pub reflects the slower pace. If you are looking for a "quick" lunch, they do have a lunch menu for the locals to get you in/out more quickly. Plan on a 60-minute lunch, relax, and enjoy the downtime!

first off if ur coming in from out of town or vacationing DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE VERY UGLY RUDE BARTENDERS This place might have been good a year ago. NOW its been new management the owner has no idea what their doing worst ppl working there and thats because poor owner ship and poor management It was horrible WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN SAN ANTONIO DONT WASTE UR TIME HERE you will be highly disappointed!

Never busy which makes you wonder why no one come in. Music is controlled by the staff who, today, gave the controls to a waitress boyfriend who changed a song I was softly singing to myself to some weird 60s obscure British station. This guy is always here with the female staff hanging around him just giving off the creepiest vibes. The food has been hit or miss so not reliable. If you want solitude, this is the place to be.

No prices for the beers, scotch flights on the menu. Bartender thought happy hour was only Monday through Friday. She check the menu to correct herself. When I asked how much a flight was she just said "it depends on which scotch" I choose with no further guidance. House Margarita was average. I can hardly wait for the amount in my bill! Well lit with big TVs. Im not feeling the love here!

The food is great. The service is not. My order was messed up 3 times, though it still tasted good. Most of their waitresses seem to have been hired for being blonde and willing to wear short skirts. Our specific waitress wasnt bad, but all in all the service wasnt up to par. They were very friendly though, and their food was amazing!
