"Enter Frontier Burger" This will be a fairly thorough review, so if you want to skip ahead to the burger, look for the labeled section below. The Atmosphere I was hungry on my lunch break and have been wanting to try out the new Frontier burger on 410. It was fairly busy on the Saturday afternoon that I visited, but parking was ample. I walked in, and noticed that the restuarant was very busy, but very clean. When I ordered, the staff was attentive and helpful. They use the whataburger table tent burger distribution method, wherein you get a plastic number and they bring your food out when the order is ready. One thing that was a bit unorthodox, was that they would ask people to raise their hands when the order was called out. The decorum was kind of confusing, as they couldnt pick a theme. They were trying to stick to the frontier mantra, but alot of decoration choices also screamed 50s burger joint. The tiling in the restaraunt could have been better chosen, as the chair feet tend to get caught in the grooves. My order came out pretty quick considering how busy the restaraunt was. They courteously brought my meal out to me on a tray, pretty standard faire. The burger was wrapped with care, not something you see very much anymore. The Burger I ordered the "Frontier Burger", which is their trademark burger, it was very esthetically pleasing when unwrapped, not squished or thrown together. The contents were evenly stacked, and there wasnt an overabundance of cheese or grease. This was a very good sized burger, which is a very welcome change considering every mainstream burger joint is trying to sell you less for yesterdays price (with the exception of Whataburger). Upon first bite, the thing that I noticed off the bat is that, this is a very tender burger. Between the meat, lettuce, and buns, there was little resistance whem being chewed; almost as if it could melt in your mouth. The tender patty was masterfully cooked, not over/under done, not overly greasy or dry. The flavor was definitely note-worthy, unique, and above all tasty. The combination of the special sauce and the genuine charbroiled flavor of the patty made for a very favorable combination. Its nice to have the option to order a charbroiled burger that isnt just a regular burger with liquid smoke. The lettuce and buns were fresh and in good quantity. Overall, the burger was definitely the highlight of the overall experience (as it should be). The Side Item I opted for onion rings, as I had read unremarkable things about the fries. The onion rings were on certainly on point; good texture, good flavor, good quantity. The only thing I wasnt super pleased about was how greasy my hands were afterwards (the tables could do with a napkin holder). The Drink The drink was pretty standard faire, but its worthy to note that the drink station was clean, and the soda tasted fresh, not flat. The Verdict I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at "Frontier Burger", but I am sad to say there is a downside to this review. The price of the meal was $10+, which isnt necessarily a bad value when you account the clean atmosphere and the good service. The problem is that its very hard for a burger joint to justify that price. The drive through was deserted, which makes sense when you factor the same price for less value (atmoshpere/service). I want this place to succeed, but with the price that they are charging, it could definitely flop after the hype has died down. Im certainly going back again, but sadly, it probably wont be often given the price. 4/5

I tried this place for the very first time tonight. I stepped inside to place an order to go. My first initial impression was good, I was greeted at the door by an employee. The menu is short and sweet and easy to read, its right behind the 3 cashiers. I placed my order and waited what seemed to be a fair amount of time for what I ordered. When my food came out I didnt get the onion rings I ordered and hadnt received my milkshakes either. The cashier didnt charge me the onion rings so I let it go and asked the guy who gave us our food for our milkshakes. I tried to reiterate the Vanilla was a small and the Strawberry was a Med., but he left while I was talking. Sure enough, he came back and the sizes and drinks were wrong. I told him this, and he proceeded to roll his eyes and go back to remake them. About 10 mintues later a young girl came back with the drinks and told us to "come again!", however, I dont think I will. The girls in front, despite getting my order a little wrong with the onion rings ( I should have checked the small clarification screen) seem to have it under control, the back didnt seem to be looking at the tickets, or paying attention to what was on them. You can see into the chicken from the lobby and it seemed like they all were a little lost. Perhaps, it just because they are still getting used to the while thing but it was just a little too unorganized. 3 out 5. I wouldnt recommend.

I was ready for a good experience and am a regular at Jims on Huebner, where the cooks and wait staff make a $7 burger worth it. I went in around 8pm Wednesday and had no problem parking or ordering inside. The atmosphere is "brand new with very bright fluorescent lights in a dropped ceiling". No music, no plants, no memorabilia other than a reproduction menu but does have free wifi. The atmosphere at Longhorn Cafe, Bill Millers or one of Jims Restaurants is far better. Looking for a turkey burger or grilled chicken so it was grilled chicken, fries and drink. The standard is ranch sauce, tomatoes and lettuce on the sandwich so I asked to cut the ranch, tomatoes and add mustard, pickles and onions. Was given a number and went to the self serve Pepsi (no Coke products) machine and waited maybe 10 minutes. Fries were good but the sandwich was lukewarm at best, the bun was not toasted, the chicken had no smoked or marinated flavor and the pickles and onions were missing. By now the counter was busy and no one was asking about the meal (as they would at Jims). Noticeable lack of young customers in the place, looked like lots of older folks trying to relive their youth.

People coming in from out of town generally only want to hit Whataburger or In-N-Out. Solid choices, no doubt. If you wanted something a bit off the beaten path Chesters works nicely. But my new go-to and San Antonio favorite is now Frontier Burger! They charcoal cook the meat, and wow what a difference. You can smell it in the parking lot, like you just stepped into someones backyard party and they are grilling up some burgers and its clear youre in for a treat. It doesnt stop there. The best crinkle cut fries and shoestring onion rings you will ever find are right here. I love fries and tend to be disappointed alot. But not here. Consistently hot, crisp, and delicious. I honestly cant fault them on anything. They are fast, the place is clean and comfortable, they arent pricey like the gourmet burger spots, and the food is consistently amazing. GO. Thank me later.

My first time there ever and it was not worth the time, effort, or the money. I found a hair in my burger and it was not throughly cooked. Then I got a to go order and I didnt ask for cheese and my wife who is allergic to milk cant have cheese. They added cheese to the first burger took it back and they took out the cheese but didnt put the mushrooms in it. Took it back again and by this time I just wanted my money back. Im never going to come back to this place again. They are nice people but the food has no flavor and its not worth it in gas to go back and forth so many times to fix an order. Then before bed I got sick off the food that was served. Again never going back to frontier burger.
