I am a huge In and Out fan, and I have been to this location over 50 times since it has opened. I work just across the street so a double double #2 is on my short list. It is time to finally leave my review- This location is TERRIBLE. It shouldnt allow itself to use the name. I realize it can take time with a new restaurant- all new employees, newly promoted managers, etc. At this point, over 1 year since its opening, there are no more excuses. The In and Out on culebra off 1604 is the real deal, this windcrest location is NOT. Here are a few things to expect- -Regular 20-30 minute drive through wait during slowest times of the day, even will only 1-2 cars ahead of you -During dinner hours? hah, youll be sitting in your car for an hour waiting -Love that crisp, fresh, In and Out lettuce? forget it. Old lettuce and mushy tomatoes are the norm -Its not weird to find that your bun is stale or crunchy instead of toasted -They dont know the difference between grilled onions or burnt onions. Ive just stopped bothering to ask at this point for grilled -Did I mention wait times? I dont know how they can take so long when I peek in the window and see 30 busy-bodys running around in their little white hats. Bad training, I guess. I wish all of my In and Out brethren in burger fandom would be a little more honest with themselves in regards to this location. Some more effective reviews might help them improve. Again the difference between this windcrest location and culebra is night and day. I love you still though :(

I dare you to find a better cheese burger for less than $4. This place is not the best burger I have ever had, but it is not far behind the best and it costs way less. The burger is on the small side, which is why it is cheaper, but the meat and the sauce they use is perfect and the cheese melts it all together. The produce on the burger is very fresh and oddly one of my favorite parts because it is so good. You can tell that the lettus and tomatoe were actually prepped and not just pulled from a sealed bag.The lettus has good color and a fresh snap. The tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes, which is surprisingly not a low bar for fast food burger joints nowadays. Everything was going great until I tried the fries. They were at the front of the pack the entire marathon and their kneecaps exploded on the last mile. I dont know how they do it, but the fries are their Achilles kneecap so to speak. Its not like they were cold, or undercooked. Eaten in their ideal state, they are bland, and the outsides do not get crispy. Some salt and a presoak in water with a dash of vinegar would go a long way. The staff were friendly and the restaurant is spotless. There was a bit of a crowd, but the staff handled it timely and the wait was not bad despite the line. Also more bonus points for the "protein style" burger with the lettus bun for people following paleo and keto. The fries are the only thing keeping this place from a 5 star review.

When In-N-Out arrived in Austin I had to try it out, there were lines around the building, with waits of up to an hour or more. When it arrived in San Antonio it was the same thing all over again. But I just dont feel it lives up to the hype surrounding it. A Californian will tell you its one of the best burgers around, its all about the fresh ingredients they use, and the fresh cut fries. If your going to try In-N-Out for the first time and you like burgers with everything on them, something similar to a Big Mac, you should order the Double Double Animal Style. Its an off the menu item, but you will get a double cheese, double meat, burger with thousand island, lettuce, pickle, tomato, toasted buns, grilled onions, toasted mustard. Which takes the standard double cheeseburger up a few notches. If you try this and still feel the food is bland, your out of luck, because In-N-Out has a pretty limited menu. Single, Double Burgers, Fries, and Shakes are pretty much it.. Theres a few off the menu items including "Well Done Fries" which are basically crispy shoe string potatoes. You can get fries prepared "Animal Style" for a small upcharge, (basically adds the sauce & onions) or you can ask for a float and they will gladly make that as well.. If youve never had In-N-Out before its worth a try. It is what it is.. fast food with more fresh ingredients than most places.

I typically dont like to review fast food chains, but ill make an exception for In-N-Out Burger. I love this place and Im sure part of it has to do with the lack of one in Houston. So anytime Im in a city where there is one available I try to visit. Some people say the place is overly hyped up, but if you compare it to McDonalds, Wendys, etc, you can tell there is a definite difference. The burgers DO taste fresher and the fries are obviously different. Im a big fan of McDs fries, but In-N-Outs just has a different taste to it, and its good. Theyre freshly cut everyday, and theyre not overly done. Theyre even good without ketchup. Of course, peoples opinions on food is always going to be subjective so your mileage may vary on this one. I think the other thing that makes me come back for more is the secret (not so secret) menu. Do a simple Google search for their secret menu and go nuts with your next order. You can never go wrong with going animal style on your burger, fries, or both. As far as service, theyre quick and efficient, especially with the constant lines, and the food is inexpensive. The place is clean, and at this particular location, there is PLENTY of seating outside. Give them a try and see what you think!

I live in the phoenix area but have spent a lot of vacations in southern California. Have ate at In and Out many times over the years. We have had In and Out in arizona for several years now and whataburger for many more. Let me say there is no comparison. Whataburger sucks compared to in and out. The reason why some people are having a hard time with the fries is because they are as natural as you can get with fries. The potatoes are sliced on the spot and cooked in 100% vegetable oil. Whataburger are frozen processed fries that compare to every other fast food chain. We have had whataburger in the phoenix area since I can remember and I think their food is nasty frozen processed food that isnt any better than mcdonalds or wendys. In fact I would take wendys over whataburger. Was visiting in the San Antonio area and so glad they have In and Out here. Awesome food and awesome service. By the way all ingredients are as fresh as you can get and beef is never frozen. I know whataburger originated in Texas and not wanting to offend any Texans but trust me do the research there is definitely no comparison. In and out wins hands down.
