We went after the dinner rush on a Monday evening to the Hollywood Park location off 281. The front seating hostess was pleasant and welcoming. It was not crowded and we were accommodated with being seated in a booth so we could contain our toddler easier than at a table with chairs. Everything appeared clean. The cushions on the booths had some wear but it did not affect our meal. There was a huge selection of food and it appeared well stocked. We tried everything from the "make your own bowl and they cook it for you" to the sushi. Our child liked the stir fried shrimp, baby corn, beef & broccoli, cheese puffs, fried cheese sticks, fresh cut fruit, and strawberry cake. The pork ribs were surprisingly good. The sushi was fine. Just would have liked some ginger or wassabi but maybe it was gone because we were there late. Our server was friendly and kept our drink glasses full multiple times. It was a good experience for a family with a young child. The food wont make a 5 star (Im overly picky about my food so it may be 5 star to others) but its a buffet, you cant be perfect with so many food options available all at once. I read some previous review about the server vaccuming at someones table and they said it upset them...well our server was doing floors in between helping customers. It was a battery or push type vaccum and it did NOT throw dust up, around, or near our table. Out the door, 2 adult buffets, 1 child buffet, 3 drinks and tip (to the very kind server who stopped her duties more than once to talk with our daughter when she got the servers attention) we spent $44.

Being from NY, I had to find good Chinese food somewhere. I found China Stix on Bulverde, which is great in a pinch and has been the the closest thing to plain jane take out in NY. However, my search was for "Chinatown in NY" type of taste. And I have finally found it! I know I know....in a buffet?!? Yes. :P. They have more items than just Chinese food, but this is exactly what I was searching for. The common test of a very good Chinese restaurant is to measure how many Asian/Chinese people are eating there when you dine there? If you can count more than 3 tables of Chinese families dining there with you, then you are in great company lol. For all the nay sayers out there...meh...go eat your Shrimp Toasts, but give me China Buffet anytime! And go hungry! The decor is not really the reason to go there...its the food! The closest 2nd in my opinion is Golden Wok on the weekends for breakfast with the dim sum carts, but thats it, their dishes taste like take out food as well. Dont get me wrong, thats not necessarily a bad thing, its not what I am looking for. So for the people who want to experience the closest authentic Chinatown-like fare, go here and go hungry. Keep an open mind in food and you wont be disappointed.

One of the best China Harbor locations in San Antonio. This location seems to have a better selection of food than others, but also offers more than most buffets in town. Ive returned to this location a few times now after finding that they had beef short ribs or "LA Ribs" on the buffet. Sushi, kimchi, grilled lemon fish and chicken, as well as many other items not found on most buffets are included here. Staff has been consistently friendly and willing to accommodate requests even when arriving close to closing time. Food quality has been decently good, better than many of the buffets in San Antonio. The number of items on the buffet is pretty impressive, I only know of 2 other buffets in San Antonio with a similar amount of items offered for the price. I would recommend this buffet if your on the north central part of San Antonio, or eating out late (they are open till 10pm on weeknights currently). A+ for customer service at this location. A+ for food selection & price as well.

The food bars were clean, the restrooms were clean, the wait staff was very polite and friendly. None of our drinks got past half empty. The food was as great as I hoped it would be, reading other reviews. The sushi and sashimi bar was clean well kept. With a few extras I have not seen at other restaurants, kimchi, chili spiced rolls, carrots in some of the rolls. With still the standard salmon, snapper, cooked shrimp, and imatation crab. So delicious. The hot part of the bar had, my surprise, several veggie options. Sliced and seasoned potatoes, zucchini, small bocchoy sliced in half, two salad mixes with many dressings. There is a stir fry bar, but I didnt sample. They have these calamari strips that are as tender as chicken, wow. Two types of baked fish. And well marinated beef ribs, Korean style. So much more than we expected, my family loved everything.

Im not posting this because of one visit, but it is consistently the same issue. If you go during the opening hours the food is mostly good between 11-12PM. However, on the weekend nights they charge more and the cooks produce sub-par food, or none at all. Youd think since you pay more on the weekend and the fact that its busy that the food would be good but not the case, they serve old crab legs that taste terrible, the hot oil turns to a cold paste, they leave buffet trays empty and never replenish them. The list can go on but Im tired of the disappointment and bad experience Ive had here on more than one occasion. It is time to be through with China Harbor, there are good Chinese restaurants in this area and they might not have all you can eat, but Id take quality over quantity any day. China Harbor, you have failed this city!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This has never been outstanding, but good and close to home. However, they lost good customers today - our usual party of 4 will NEVER return. Walked in and as usual, said party of 4, but we want a bigger table than their teeny table for 4. There were many, many tables available keep in mind. They said no big tables available, only the little ones. We asked if they could put two tables together, they said they could not. We asked if we could put them together, they said not allowed. So we walked out and will never return! They were very rude and waved as we exited.

Weve went to some really cheap asian buffets (4.99) and now we can say we went to the highest (11.99) at China Buffet. Even though the price of the buffet is higher that we usually pay, the food selection was much better. This is the fanciest buffet weve ever went to and the quality of the food matched the theme as well. It didnt feel greasy and fattening.Theres 3 different kinds of fish and more crab legs than you could eat. Sushi is also abundant. Theres also desert, if you can make it that far. Were trying to cut back on eating buffets, otherwise wed go there again.

Food is absolutely disgusting. The sweet and sour chicken wasnt fully cooked. There was still raw batter inside the thin coat of fried gruel. I brought my two friends here with me to eat and I paid for all three of us. To think that the waitress had the audacity to yell at me, more than likely curses, in chinese for not tipping her. That was due to not having enough money. But really? Yelling at a customer after they bring in two other clients? Okay. Neither of us will return ever again. Sizzling Wok on the other side of 281 has been friendly and cook quality food!
