My girlfriend and I are big BBQ aficionados and we used to come to Eddie Deens all the time. However, when the ownership changed, the food went far downhill. They used to have a great selection(and tasting) of sides but that has also dwindled in both selection and quality. They have little to no business the few times Ive been in recently, which means I have no idea how long that slab of brisket has been sitting there. The food is sub-par as far as BBQ standards go. Most of the meats are dry, presumably from the aforementioned statement about no business. My girlfriend and I both ended up vomiting later that night after eating here (sorry, gross I know). We are taking a family poll for how much longer this place will be around for, especially if they dont improve their food quality. Neither of us will come here again unless we know for sure the food has improved, and I dont believe that would somehow happen. Good luck to the business, as I fear that they are going to need it.

Pros: great atmosphere very friendly staff, nice size portions, the self serve beans were awesome. All of the food was cooked perfectly and the brisket was some of the most tender that I have ever had. The jalapeño sausage tasted like it was from Llano(this is a good thing), they have a huge jar of jalapeños and I love my peppers. The ribs were fall of the bone and very meaty. Cons: although the food was cooked great it did not have a lot of flavor, taste a lot like the run of the mill BBQ. Only had one type of BBQ sauce that my wife said was too hot and she could not enjoy her food at all and would up not finishing. Very limited selection of sides potato salad, coleslaw, and beans. No salad, green beans or corn on the cob. All and all I will come back. I like it better than Soul Mans just wish they had milder sauce for those that are spice intolerant.

Ultra-local place with serious potential. Nice choice of meats, the brisket is good, and you can even get some all-you-can-eat catfish and crawfish by the pound. Theyve got a cake/sweet stuff stand and live music, and a bounce-house for the kids with a large grassy area for bringing your own chairs. Its a BYOB place so bring a cooler. Only downside is a decently early closing hour. Sure wish theyd stay open until ten or so! Pro-tip: if you want the best selection eat earlier (they sell until they run out) and then hang out a while.

We went for the first time tonight for dinner. We were the only ones there for at least an hour. Ordered top of the brisket and they didnt slice it off top. Pulled pork was ok, but too many burnt, touch pieces and not alot of flavor. Brisket had no smokey flavor. Mac n cheese was so thick it was like eating paste. Sweet tea was great. This was our first and last time here.

Wont be going back to the Smoked Monkey, being run by a bunch of kids. Got the order to go.sliced brisket and ribs, gave me the brisket and didnt bother to put in the ribs. Long way to go back for ribs, so wont go back. Called them, wanted me to come back for the ribs, no thanks way to far, just lost a customer should have got it right the first time.

Let me tell you its limited bc they know whats good and what goes with the Q. The BBQ is off the hendges! They put their sides w their Q like a fine wine w a good steak! Im taking Cple friends there this afternoon just to show them off! In the middle of nowhere right in the heart of everything! SMOKE MONKEY! EAT OR BE EATEN!

Tonight was my first time here. I had the sweet and spicy pulled pork sandwich. It was delicious! The restaurant has a simple rustic feel. Dont dress up! Unfortunately, its cold out tonight or would love to sit outside. This place screams Texas and makes me happy. I will be back for the food and chill atmosphere.

Great food in a unique atmosphere. Good music. Some nice twists on your regular BBQ. Definitely recommend. A family owned BBQ joint that wont disappoint.T Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are all you can eat catfish, shrimp and sides, 6pm until close. Vanilla buttermilk pie is awesome.

The last few times weve been the brisket has been terrible and the pork had no flavor :( I will say however that the garlic bacon green beans are still the bomb, but Im not driving from Sachse almost to Terrell just for the green beans. Guess we will stick with Big Daddys for now.

Pass by this place at least 3 times a week since moving here. Decided to give it a try since they have crawfish. Kids and I got 2 meat plates with sliced brisket. It was fatty and bland; we threw away 3/4 of the food we bought. Crawfish was good though.
