After hearing about Eddie Deen BBQ and reading all the all the positive reviews, I was very disappointed and it was mediocre at best! If you like catered / event type food which is; always questionable about how fresh, barely warm, served into styrofoam bowls and cups with plasticware, then this is the place for you. Service was lacking and/or not at all, just like at a catering / event. The sliced beef was ok, but the sausage tasted and looked like vienna sausage (no seasoning) also the sausage was heated up in the microwave, beans were old and cold. Pickle Bar, it tasted like they just poured in different flavored Kool-Aid to make the unique flavors, different, but not good.

The brisket is good. The chicken is very good. The pickle selection is amazing. The BBQ sauce is a little spicy, good but not great. The jalapeno beans are awesome. I asked for burnt ends and they either didnt hear me correctly or didnt know what I was talking about. Everyone should know about burnt ends, right? I think the best part is the little putt putt game in one of the rooms. My boys loved it. Its worth a lunch or dinner visit if youre rolling through Terrell.

My husband and I decided to try it today and were so happy we did. We had the squishy brisket sandwiches and glad to find someplace thats doing brisket RIGHT, fairly close to home. The bark in it...delicious. We didnt even put the sauce on, and liked the potato salad and the mini buttermilk pies too. Well be back to try some ribs soon. Your server that waited on us at the drive through was so nice and friendly. We dont mind paying $$ for good bbq.

Moved back to Texas from being here in the 90s and struggled trying to find GOOD LOCAL barbeque Then right in my own back door we found Hickory Root! Excellent, good old fashion barbeque, nice clean family friendly atmosphere with county charm. We are now regulars, come every week. We both like our brisket "squishy"! Dont forget the chocolate pecan mini pie too! Love this place}

Give yall a 2 only for the good service. The food was alright got the loaded potato with meat. There was more potato then meat couldnt taste the meat at all only could taste the potato. The potato was also small i ate the food left and picked up pops chicken to get full. This was my 2nd trip here first trip also sucked. Dont understand how yall stay open.

Had the sliced Brisket and Catfish. Wow! Now thats good stuff. The brisket has a good smoke flavor, and the catfish is actually seasoned with their own recipe seasoning, and then served with home made honey mustard. The 2 pair very nicely. The only thing I didnt like was the mustard potato salad, it was good though. U GOTTA GO HERE!

My husband and I absolutely love this place! Meats and phenomenal and so are the sides, I especially love the green beans. So good we have even used it for catering and its always gone before we even get a bite!!!
