Initially, I was very excited to experience this place for myself after reading all the wonderful reviews. Little did I know that the staff there were baiting their customers. For every bad review, they would write several awesome reviews. I myself love food, no matter where the location or what the place looks like. A few of my favorite restaraunts are hole-in-the-wall places. When we walked in, there were no decorations or music playing. We werent even sure the place was open yet. There was plastic utinsels and butcher paper covering the tables. No biggie. We got menus with little to no variety of food to choose from. Still, we were there for the cajun food boasted anyway. After ordering, we recieved some really wonderful sourdough bread, fresh and hot with butter. Pretty good, but about the only thing to comend them for. We ordered the crazy cajun and were charged around $20 a person for 3 people, while my daughter got the gumbo. Horrible is all I have to say about the food. The gumbo was bland and cold when served (my poor daughter was starving and wouldnt eat more than a bite), and the crazy cajun was absolutely disgusting. First, there was barely enough food there to feed 1 person (even though they charged us for 3 people), it was cold, the sausage was loaded with gristle, no flavor at all, except for the shrimp tasting like it was soaked in some sort of cleaning solution. I was so looking forward to trying this place, but ultimately came away deflated, disappointed, and sick to the stomach. If planning to try this place, proceed with caution (and pepto/immodium)...

Cajun Seafood Boil. Thats what I come for. The Crazy Cajun has a cajun seafood boil, with crab, sausage, potatoes, corn and shrimp. During crawfish season they are included and off season substituted for additional shrimp. Warm bread and butter is brought to the table with every meal. Service at this restaurant is pretty good. Ive always been greeted with a smile, and wait staff is decent even when overwhelmed by a crowd. If you compared this seafood/crab boil to all the other places Ive been, Its up there in the best ones Ive had. It definitely beats all the boils Ive had from the major chain seafood restaurants. Portion sizes on the menu items are good, many very generous. The time to receive your meal is usually pretty fast.. 15 minutes or so. The restaurant atmosphere varies from the quiet calm, to the energetic & noisy, sometimes with live entertainment if you go on a weekend evening. Another nice thing about the Crazy Cajun is that they are located 1 block off the beach entrance. Its a great place to eat whether your staying in Port Aransas, or visiting the beach with the kids. It makes a great after beach meal. I have family who lives in the Corpus Christi area, and they all know about the Crazy Cajun. I will be returning when in the area..

My wife and i are in town for our Anniversary wanted a good seafood place was told Crazy Cajun was the place if i could give it less than a one star i would!! worst service ever & hostess lied to us . We talked to a few customers that were coming out when we were goin in they said that there were several items on the menu that the restaurant was out of. So we asked the hostess as we went in. She said O NO WERE NOT OUT OF ANYTHING. So we decided to stay. We got seated waited and waited a few of the wait staff walked by and just looked at us . 2 other tables were seated after us and they already had service so waited about 10 min then we walked out as we left another couple came out behind us and said it was a good thing we left cause they are out of a bunch of stuff. I asked what items they were out of and it was the same thing the people we saw goin in had said they were out of. Will never go back

Five of us ordered the Hungry Cajun for Dinner. We were totally UNDERWHELMED by the food or the quantity of food served. I mentioned to our waiter that they were a little short on both crab and shrimp. The waiter returned a few minutes later with a small bowl with a few shrimp and a couple of crab legs (little did I know that I was going to be charged $32.90 for the little bowl). We ordered two pounds of shrimp, the waiter brought one pound. The pound of shrimp consisted of 9 small to large shrimp. I wonder if they include the weight of the metal bowl in their weights? We ordered a pound of sausage, it was a half pound at best. The five of us averaged $30.50 each for dinner (excluding beer)........TOTAL FAIL....... If I could give a half of a Star for this review I would. This restaurant will not be included in my stomping ground on any future visit to Port A.... Did I mention TOTAL FAIL?

Being from Louisiana Im kinda picky when it comes to cajun food, this place wasnt bad. Youve got a few options as far as the menu goes, youve got the crazy cajun which is a serving of mixed seafood, sausage, corn, and new potatoes. Then youve got the standard gumbos, Jambalaya, and other assorted rice dishes but the main attraction is the crazy cajun. They bring it out and dump it on the table fresh from the boiling pot. Its not bad but its not real spicy which is good I suppose since most folks in Texas dont handle spice real well. The drinks are insanely pricey. 2.50 for soda, 3 bucks for TEA and then 2.75 for an 8 oz draft beer. I was there with a group of five and the bill came out to $100.25 not too bad all things considered but for the amount they charged each of us I was expecting more. I dunno if Id eat there again given other choices but if someone really wanted to go I probably would.

We went for dinner last night and were totally unimpressed. Had Shrimp appetizer that boasted a smooth spicy sauce and it had no flavor, was more like a sour cream dip. the Shrimp were big but tough. My husband ordered the seafood gumbo and it was a pre-made roux that had the shrimp added before serving instead of being cooked in the roux and no other seafood that he could find in the little Styrofoam bowl of gumbo he was served. I had the Shrimp etouffee and it was the same as the gumbo the small shrimp were sorta mushy and had been added to the roux before serving and the same small styrofoam bowl. Ice Tea was a small 6 oz glass for $3.00 but you could have refills. So we spent $32.00 for little or nothing. The waiter that served us was pleasant and attentive but the food was not worth returning for.

So we thought we would try the boiled crawfish. We were told they were good but instead we ordered the Hungry Cajun, a mix of boiled crawfish, shrimp, sausage, crab legs, potatoes and corn. We had ordered 3 of them and when they brought it to our table 15 minutes later and it was a small portion of food for 3 people. Needless to say the food tasted horrible. They obviously boil everything first and then sprinkle seasoning on it. None of the food had any taste to it. I do not know how a place like that stays in business. That is not "cajun" food at ALL. You CAN NOT fool a Mississippi girl. To make matters worse they tag on an extra $8.00 to our bill, that I am just now finding out about, to make the server have a nice tip. Please dont waste your money on "fake" cajun food.
