My family and I went to see a movie at Angelika Plano Center on December 14, 2013. An hour into the movie, one of the other patrons begins to smoke a cigarette of some time. Smoke fumes and aroma filled the air. My son who has asthma, says to me why is someone smoking in this enclosed space. I went to get a theater attendant and pointed the gentleman out to him that is smoking. He tells me that he could not handle this situation and that he would have to get the manager. The manager arrives to the theater, I again point the person out that is smoking! The manager just stands there, saying, "What do you want me to do?" Other movie patrons begin to stand up and tell him the same thing. The managers response was nothing!!!! He never went over to the gentlemen. He never addressed the issue at ALL! He stated that Angelika Film Center has not made a decision on E-cigarettes and if they will be allowing them in their theaters. He said, I cant remove anyone from the theaters without contacting the police, which he also did not feel this situation warranted calling them. He sided with the ONE smoking patron. Shame on Angelika Theaters for allowing your other patrons to breathe in second hand smoke to obtain $$$$… Poor management training on the part of Angelika Film Centers for not how to handle rude and disgusting smoking customers!!!! The movie was ruined for me and the many patrons that also got up and walked out and asked for their money back. I guess one bad apple ruins the pack!!! If you dont mind inhaling second hand smoke, getting cancer and dying, then this is the place for you!!

My husband and I are very impressed with the National Theatre Live presentations and are doing our best to see them, but we are being hampered by the Plano, TX Angelika Theatre which does not advertise the series and when called about it gives either no information or misinformation. I called the Plano theatre last night to confirm that "Disappearing Numbers" would be shown there tonight as originally scheduled. It took three people before I got to someone who had ever heard of NT Live. After this person checked with his manager he confirmed theyd be showing the film. We showed up and found a confused ticket seller who had never heard of NT Live. She checked with her manager and told us to come back tomorrow. We asked to talk to the manager who told us that it wouldnt be there tomorrow night either, but it was playing in Dallas. We had attended Phaedre last month and they started the film twelve minutes into the film instead of at the beginning. this happened three times until they got it right. There were only six people in the audience because of lack of publicity. The people who were there had to research its existence to know about it. My husband and I consider NT Live a wonderful event and want the community to have the opportunity of enjoying it. In other locations in the country NT Live is sold out for all performances. Ive tried to find a way to communicate with someone in management, but have found no way to do that. Sandi Black

The Angelika is a wonderful theater if for no other reason than providing us all with the opportunity to watch excellent indie films time and time again. My one issue is the location often feels almost abandoned whenever I visit. Its possible I only ever visit on off times, but in my experience there are very few employees ever there and they have a strange "volunteer" feeling to them, as if they just signed on to work there that week and dont plan on staying for long. Trash is left around randomly and objects arent tended to properly. The concession stand kind of reminds me of buying snacks at a middle school sporting event. These might seem like petty concerns, and I guess they are, but the Angelika is located in an upscale area and the exterior of the theater seems to suggest that it fits in: But the deeper you go inside and the longer you stay, the more empty, dated, and out of place it feels.

My wife and I enjoy many of the "old movies", as well as new releases. We also like the easy going manner, and the lack of raudiness of the type of people who attend this "neighborhood-like" theater. You can even take your own sandwich and chips , or purchase theirs right their at the concession. Homemade cookies too. Of course they do appreciate some degree of ,"pick- Up after yourself and toss trash in the walled in receptacles. Its peaceful! At least thats my take. My wife likes it loud and messy.....but I can usually hold her to a dull roar, (most of the time) !

Favorite movie theatre out there in the dfw area. Love how the location is dead in the center of the shops at legacy, makes for a convenient movie night being able to choose from so many delicious restaurants to eat at before or after the movie. This theatre shows mostly indie flicks with the exception of a few slightly artsy big budget mainstream films that they slip into their movie selection. Always a good time at the ever so eloquent Angelika Film Center! (Also free soda refills from the new age coke machines with a whole lot of choices)

Their venues are dated. Most of the competition as gone to the luxury lounge chairs with food and beverage service and reserved seating. I recently visited an Angelica in San Diego. It was new, updated and beautiful. How long do we have to wait in Dallas area for them to update? Their only advantage is they get limited and early release films. Other than that, not much too like. Their downtown venue really is stinky and old. .

Modern, upscale place to watch indie and artsy, Cannes and Sundance festival type films in a hipster friendly environment. Prices are quite expensive, crowd is usually small and mainly adults so viewing experience is always quite good. The movies shown here usually just arent my cup of tea, so I rarely ever visit. But occasionally, a big budget blockbuster comes along and this is a wonderful place to watch those.

A few years ago this was my favorite theater, but as other local theaters have added recliners and food service it hasnt kept pace. But what it lacks in the latest amenities it makes up for with its wonderful indy movie selection. Youll leave some movies wondering what you just saw and others deeply moved and inspired so take a few minutes and research the movies before you go.

The Angelika is a Dallas tradition and this Plano location in Shops of Legacy lives up to the reputation. The movie theatre is referred to as a film center because many new films and film festival favorites are shown here. There is a cafe on site and patrons enjoy drinks at the bar. We visited this location with a group and thus us a good option for a small event location.

I love to watch movies at this place. However, lately the place seems to be neglected. Toilets are not kept clean between shows. No paper to wipe yourself, water all around the ladies bathroom, and trash in the halls. Not sure if the theater attendants are getting lazy or the customer caliber is going down in the area, and viewers are not tossing trash in the receptacles.
