The food was good and tasty. Slightly overpriced but not too much. BUT THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. The waitress we had acted like she has zero experience or stoned. The only two things she was good at was dropping stuffs and humiliating costumers. She dropped the menu once or twice, slipped the sauteed mushroom, and that boiling hot thing would have landed on my hand if I didnt react fast. The other appetizer didnt got brought to our table till we were 80% done with meal while the waitress girl almost showered the lady sat next to us with tea. The whole time no refill on drinks till we were ready to leave. We asked for the manager for comment card but no manager nor comment card showed up after 10 min waiting. When we were getting into the car, the waitress ran out, claimed that we didnt sign the check(which was not true). After I gave her my copy, she THREW the tips cash back at me and told me "You need this more than I do." What on earth was that?! NEVER GO BACK AND NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

The place looks fancy, and probably caters to those who have money that dont know the value of what they are getting. We ordered a couple of steaks, were told that the cuts we wanted were not available. Ordered our other choices and waited.... and waited... and waited... finally getting our meals. One of us got the wrong cut of meat, we pointed it out to the waiter... and I am not kidding you this is the response we got "It comes from a different butcher, every butcher has his own was of cutting the meat" I am sorry, a cut of a meat is a cut of meat no matter who holds the knife. A slice of meat comes from the same part of the body and is expected to be cut the same way. It is prepared defined on which cut it is... and the waiter tried to have us believe it was cut differently but the same cut... not to mention.. their medium rare... is well done... their rare... is well done... their medium well and well... rare... I am not sure how many others around us I heard complaining that day.

We love Cattle Baron but last night was very disappointing. My wife and I took my in laws out for dinner and we sat down and all ordered drinks. The server asked for my ID and then my wifes (we are in our 40s) and then she turned to my 65 year old Father in law and asked for his ID we initially laughed it off but she was serious and so after her persistence we asked to see a manager and he came to the table and said it was a TABC law that everyone must show their ID. Well, I pulled up TABC website and showed him it was NOT a law and that he did not have to show his ID but the manager said no ID no alcohol so we didnt drink, we ate our dinner but we will not be back. My Father in Law had his ID but by this time it was a matter of principle. Sometimes you just have to use common sense people.

A HUGE shout out and thank you to this restaurant. We made reservations for 10 for reception lunch after Texas Tech graduation. We came all the way from the Austin area. Choosing the Cattle Baron was the BEST decision EVER. Manager, I think his name was David, was AWESOME and walked us into the dining room and we were early. Our server was training a new person and BOTH of them were fabulous. The salad bar is phenomenal, the food and drinks were over the top and the atmosphere was very family oriented and warm. I cannot imagine ANYONE having a negative experience at this restaurant. This manager deserves a raise or promotion and the servers should get a raise! THANK YOU CATTLE BARON for making our experience OVER THE TOP!!

This place has taken a turn for the worst, it used to be a very nice steakhouse with great prime rib but poor management has turned it into a golden corral caliber dining experience. I was refused service for a alcoholic drink because I have a vertical ID ( Im 23 ), despite the fact that it is still a valid state issued ID the manager refused to serve me because he claimed that it was against TABC policy, which it is not. After he left and we waited 20 min for our entrees I left Cattle Baron for the last time, fully dissatisfied. I would recommend trying the new Saltgrass Steakhouse. 6026 Marsha Sharp Fwy, Lubbock, TX 79407

My wife and I went to Cattle Baron for lunch today. In the Caesar salad that my wife had ordered, there was a 6" piece of plastic wrap in it. When the manager came around to ask us how we liked our food, we gave the piece of plastic wrap to him. He took it and went to the kitchen. He never came back to say he was sorry and he did not even credit us for the cost of the Caesar salad. We have eaten at Cattle Baron for over 15 years, but we will not be going back. A restaurant that does not care about the state of the food they serve is not a place we want to patronize.

I had called on April 4th to make reservations for April 27th, and called to confirm those reservations on April 26, because our group had an out of town speaker that was on a tight schedule. Upon arriving on the 27th we were told that we had no reservations. Had to wait for some time while other large parties went ahead of us. As it turned out our speaker had to "eat and run" and was not given the time to visit that he was hoping for. I failed to get the name of the employees that I talked to both times, but will never make that mistake again.

Awesome food and service, the hostess was very nice and polite. We sat pretty much instantly. Our waitress was also great. Filled our drinks often and was also very nice, no problems at all. The price wasnt too bad either for what you get. Anyways great place, would recommend.

This place is an eclectic type restaurant. Its a bit crowded during weekends and I am not that fond of the food! Its there for our First Friday Art Trail and for A place to have Wine! If your going with Friends and your not hungry then this is the place on the trail!

Service was bad and food only so-so. My wife, sons girlfriend, and I went there with the idea of having a good meal. We were very disappointed. The manager is worthless. Never going back.

Terrible service. Im sitting here now with a table of 12 and we have been waiting for our checks for half an hour. Food was sub par and bathrooms are a disaster. Will never return.

The best steakhouse in Lubbock. The prime ribs is perfection, and the service is top notch. You cant beat the salad bar anywhere in Lubbock.
