Excellent location, great food, friendly service, odd presentation... The Lakehouse is as charming a restaurant as you could hope for. The lakeside setting is great, and the rustic decor makes for a tranquil, countryfied atmosphere. The quality of its food is also high, with my catfish being among the best Ive had in Texas. Prices are reasonable and service is good. The one thing I found a little baffling is that my catfish special arrived on a segmented plastic cafeteria plate... odd. Nevertheless, a great place for lunch, and Ill be trying it for dinner too.

The Lakehouse doesnt serve a fine French cuisine with a dress code. Instead, it offers a wide variety of delicious foods with a warm, inviting ambiance. It is southern home cooking at its best, overlooking the beautiful Guadalupe River in the heart of the Texas hill country. The service is what one starts to expect after being seated...excellent. They are attentive, prompt, and offer genuine hospitality (without being overbearing). It is a taste of Texas that will leave you with fond memories.

had fried shrimp with coleslaw and baked potato, ordered it over the phone. they didnt forget a thing! all the butter, sour cream, cheese, celery pieces, napkins silverware salt pepper, cocktail sauce was all in the bag! which is a big plus! the coleslaw was fresh you could just taste it fresh cut up lettuce. baked potato was soft yet hard but perfect! we ordered this during the week on a Thursday for lunch. and also the portion of shrimp was hugeeee! I had enough left over for dinner.

Awesome food. Our party of 4 seniors really enjoyed the freshness and quality of the food. We all received 4 pieces of fish on the smaller portion menu and then had a choice of 2 sides. The cottage fries, cole slaw and green beans were exception. I have never seen green beans as green as these. The hush puppies were a little too dense for my liking but were still good. Thank you Breanna for the awesome service and friendly conversation.

We came upon The Lakehouse by complete accident whilst visiting Kerrville, and immediately, we knew we wanted to stay to eat there. The decor is wonderful - imagine a log cabin setting overlooking the Guadalupe River, a clean dining environment and very friendly staff... I highly recommend a visit there. The food was delicious - the chicken fried steak is really good, as is the sirloin, and the portions are well worth the money.

Im guessing you can always get a table here because the parking lot was overflowing, yet we were seated immediately. Dont let the older age of most of the customers turn you away - this is good fish and seafood at a good price. Theres not much in the craft beer category, but they have a good Texas wine selection. My gumbo and catfish was good and the kids enjoyed their meals too.

The food is GREAT! Good home cooking. Catfish is delicious, and I am picky about catfish. I recommend the ALL U CAN EAT. It comes with Fried catfish, popcorn shrimp and clams (I dont get the clams). And you pick 3 sides. Pinto beans, fried okra, Cole slaw, fries, salad or baked potato. Mmm mm. Youll leave satisfied and a little heavy. Enjoy

My wife and I eat at the Lakehouse whenever we are in Kerrville. The food is pretty wide ranging with plenty of traditional Texas dishes, I love their catfish. The view is wonderful of the dammed up river (the lake). Prices are modest and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The building itself is warm and inviting.

Great fried shrimp, plenty of food, good service, fast, decent value, but chicken fried steak that they are famous for much to be desired; bit bland and over salty. We are chicken fried steak connoisseurs and we have had many that are better. And awesome view.

Even though I dont like fish, my husband and I often go to the Lakehouse for lunch or dinner. The hush puppies are absolutely the best - even if not included in the meal - we order them. Very good chicken tenders. Service is always friendly and quick.
