Double Trouble is the brainchild of Robin Berwick and Robin Whalan, who have previously worked at what is widely regarded as one of Houstons premiere craft cocktail bars, Anvil. it was easy to get to, as it is literally across from a Metro Rail stop. The first area is open, with a wooden lattice that forms a door. Within this open area are various tables and chairs. I took full advantage of both this open area and the beautiful weather. Inside, although small, does contain only a slight tiki motif, therefore calling Double Trouble a tiki bar, I think, is a bit of a stretch. Double Troubles inside area contains the requisite bar and barstools, but it also has raised rounded tables with barstools. I found this made it easier to talk to people. My first drink was a Jamaican Coffee, since I had never had one before Along with the drink, I was suprised a cinnamon stick in my drink. This added a fantastic cinnamon flavor to my coffee. My next drink was a Shark Wheat (not sure of name). Tequila was the main ingredient, and the final drink looked pink in color. This was what I expected from a tiki bar drink: definitely strong, but also tropically sweet. I finished my evening off with a Southern Star Bombshell Blonde. Also, Double Trouble is a very short walk from Tacos a Go Go if anyone in your group is in need of drunchies (drunk munchies). Being so close to the Metro Rail and a ride deeper into Downtown also allows Double Trouble to serve as the first bar of the night. In summary, although rather small, Double Trouble offers a calm drinking environment, great drinks, fantastic location, and an overall amazing experience

GREAT PLACE FOR THOSE WHO DON"T DRINK TO STILL HAVE A GOOD TIME AMONGST DRINKERS! True coffee house - There appeared to be sweets on the menu but we didnt see anyone else eating so we just drank our coffee and shut up! Limited seating - When you arrive, you are little uncertain about what to do, should I go to the bar for coffee, will someone come to me should I sit? Questions, questions. Answer: Walk up to the bar order your drink, go sit down and the bar tender will make eye contact when its time for pick up. If its a bit crowded just hand around the bar area. The service is fairly quick. Coffee and spirits - The menu consists of coffee and tea, Coffee and Alcohol drinks and fully stocked bar. we ordered the Jamaican and the Oaxacan Coffee, and we were good to go.. man.. Coffee and liquor is STRONG. Parking - Street parking is best in this area.. its not overly crowded on this stretch of main and Travis downtown. You can also catch the rail depending on where you live in the city. The METORAIL will drop you off at the Ensemble Theatre and you simply walk across the street!

Just came here for the first time the other day. I instantly loved the place. It has a very chill vibe. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and the crowd was diverse. People were working away on their computers and people were just having a nice Sunday evening. I tried their Oaxacan Coffee that has Creme de Cacao and Mezcal and wow it was strong, even a little too strong for my taste. I would like to come back and taste the wide diversity of drinks they offer. They do not offer food but, you can just walk down the street to Tacos a Go-Go and bring it over. They also have a covered patio which is awesome and dog friendly! The bartenders were super friendly and very attentive. I would most definitely recommend this place.

A bar wanna be a coffee shop! As for coffee it fails miserably for a bar its okay. Black coffee was watery and bitter. Cappuccino with extra shot made an okay regular coffee. I guess if you mix it with some alcohol, you wouldnt mind of the quality... As for the place, it was on the low side. Yes, there are some chic elements but they get lost on the old building which is not appealing from the outside. Again, bar like at night it might be cool... And even thought all this, I have to say the waiter/ bartender/cashier (yes, only one employee for all that) was very nice. Please management, get good quality coffee and have more personnel. How would one person be alone attending customers in a crowded bar?

Awesome place to stop in for a cocktail! I went on a Saturday night and there was a nice size crowd, but it was not overly packed. Perfect stop if you want a bar with places to sit and room to move around while still maintaining a high energy atmosphere. My friend and I each tried a few different ones and they were all delicious. A couple of the drinks we tried and fresh espresso in them, and they were awesome. I can only imagine that their non-alcoholic espresso drinks served during the day are of the same caliber.

$2.50 wells for Happy Hour. Coffee for those who dont like to drink. Relaxed atmosphere. All of my favorite things. They dont usually have many beers on tap, but they have plenty of cans, so theres a good selection. The prices are also very reasonable for this area. Most of the bartenders are pretty friendly as well. The only thing I dont recommend is the caffeinated cocktails - I love coffee and booze, but they didnt taste too great together for me. Overall, this is one of my favorite bars in Houston.

Came here a random night with my girlfriend while wandering the streets, and Im glad we came across it. Its a small dark place, but nice. The bartender that served us was really friendly and made us 2 of their specialty drinks, the names escape me at the moment, but they were DELICIOUS. Oh, one was I believe called Love Lost and the other was something with Elise in it haha I dont know, but I highly recommend trying this place out. Their ingredients are all fresh too!

Want a pick me up of Coffee, check. Want to celebrate the day with a cocktail, check. Want the freedom to do either or, check. Right off Main Street just outside Downtown, Double Trouble gives you the best of both worlds with great happy hours and a variety of drinks to choose from. Their covered patio is a perfect spot to people watch and catch the light rail to any part of Houston you wish to go!

Nice coffee shop bar. Plenty of seating which is key for this type of setup. Decent selection of local beer. Service was attentive and friendly. I was here for a couchsurfing monthly meet and we all had no trouble finding a seat. Only problem I can foresee is parking, which you should be prepared for anywhere in midtown. I took an uber. There is also a metro rail stop in front of the bar.

A bar AND a coffee shop! Cool place with lots of locals and a laid back atmosphere. Great for coffee or drinks or both! Inexpensive (but not cheap) drinks that are sure to satisfy any thirst and palate. Lounge outside and watch the streetcar go by and just take it in on a hot Houston afternoon! I wish I could have spent more time in this great hang out! Definitely will be back!

I love any place that combines both good beer and great coffee. This is a god chill place to spend time, especially in their front covered outdoor area. Its never too crowded and the service is great. I like to get their cold coffee cocktails. Not sure how their black coffee is on its own but they do mix up a good treat! Right off the metro-rail, this is a great spot!
