My family decided to go here a day before mother’s day to avoid the crowd. The restaurant was pretty empty and on the way to be seated, my family and I passed a bunch of empty tables on the inside and but they led us to the back and seated us outside. Before walking outside, we walked through a smaller room with about 10 tables and only 1 of those 10 tables was occupied. We waited outside about 20 minutes before a waitress came out to ask us what we wanted to drink. By the time she came everyone knew what they wanted to eat and my wife takes forever to decide what she wants so it was defiantly a while before she came! One of my daughters ordered pizza and the waitress brings her a pizza out so she could make it herself about 20 minutes later. About 30 minutes later I had to go inside to find the waitress to say the pizza is ready and you can take it to be cooked now. While looking for my waitress I noticed that back room had 5 more parties inside and one was very large with about 10 people. They already had their appetizers, and were being served their main course already! Also the other people in the room had appetizers and some already had their food as well. So at this point we had been there for over an hour. Long story short, HORRIBLE customer service! They put us outside and completely forgot about us!! I’m not trying to pull the race card but we were the only African American people there! We asked to speak to the manager and told him what happened he claimed they had to recook my daughters pizza and out food should be coming out shortly. We just left! Horrible experience. In order to post I had to give it at least 1 star but it should be NONE!

While the ambiance was pleasant, the food unfortunately did not live up to the prices or the other reviews here. Dinner started with a bland bagged iceberg lettuce salad. If you do go, be sure to order the hand made Caesar salad, which a table over from ours ordered. It smelled delicious! The salmon in tarragon sauce was not particularly good, especially for the price. The steamed vegetables accompanying it tasted burnt, as if the bottom had boiled out of the pan and the cooks simply added more water. The pasta side dish that came with the meal tasted of bland canned tomato sauce, with no spice or seasoning whatsoever. The angel hair pasta with chicken was slightly better, but the sauce still tasted as if it was straight from a jar. The bread tasted like the frozen italian loaves you get at the grocery store, soaked in olive oil since the beginning of the day, such that some pieces were stale and chewy, while others were soggy and oily. Overall, a poor experience which made our evening far less enjoyable. I have no intentions of ever eating here again.

Highly overrated, expensive and way overpriced. Over the past 30 years, Ive dined at Cavatores on occasion with varying degrees of satisfaction. Except for the interesting decor, mostly nothing to rave about compared to other restaurants in town. Sadly, it has hit a whole new low. Fancy $$$ menu now and tell-tale signs of cuts in quality here and there...Wedesday evening and no piano player so nothing special about the atmosphere. Marguerita pizza was worst either of us have ever had...small for the price, totally tasteless and covered with thick globs of mozzarella cheese. Minestrone soup equally bad (we can do far better ourselves at home or by opening a can of Progresso at 1/5th the price). Their "famous" Caesar salad was ok except the romaine was chopped instead of torn, a total miss for the $17 price tag. Definitely a waste of hard-earned money and we wont be coming back!

Atmosphere and waiter were good, food was not. Id been wanting to try this place out and saw a deal for it so figured it was a good time to check it out. I was not impressed and will not be back. Its way overpriced for the quality of food, honestly might as well go to Olive Garden and itd probably only cost half of what you pay here and taste better. We started with mozzarella sticks and knew from there it wasnt going to be good. They were just frozen ones heated up and were barely warm. I had seafood pasta and my bf had chicken Alfredo both which were mediocre and not very big servings. They both cost over $20, what a rip off for what you get and the quality. If I hadnt had the deal I bought and had paid full price I would have been very mad. Do yourself a favor and dont waste your money here. Even if it wasnt overpriced I still wouldnt go back because its just not good.

I have been come here for years! We even ate here before homecoming a couple times. I think it was 20 orders of chicken alfredo because it was the cheapest thing on the menu. The place feels like an old rustic house made classy and the City of Houston just got developed all around it. The nice atmosphere inside is completed by a piano player that takes requests which I dont see very often anymore. However I get it 3 stars because the quality of the food doesnt seem to keep up with the atmosphere and good service. It is pretty much just your basic Italian food with fine dining prices. The basic italian restaurant has its place but I like more adventurous new stuff around town.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions and am a lover of Italian cuisine; the food is top rate each and every time. When visiting most Italian restaurants, I tend to stay within a comfortable wheelhouse of certain dishes; there is not a more deserving restaurant that begs you to travel outside your comfort zone. Everyting is delicious! All pasta dishes are made with handmade pasta! They even have live music nightly. Also, if you are a fan of tomato soup, you wont find a better version in Houston. The ONLY negative Ill say is that they arent open on Sunday, but hey, even God had to rest on Sunday. P.S. Their deserts are beautiful as well as scrumptious.

The place has neat decor. It is a great place to go and eat with your family. The plates are pretty good portions. The cesar salad is pretty popular. We ordered it, and we were not disappointed . They come and prepare it right in front of you. I didnt give it 5 stars because the food wasnt "wow". The menu had a lot of options, but it is not a place that I would necessarily crave to come back. They identify as "authentic Italian" food, but for some reason that wasnt my experience. They had daily specials, which is nice. The waiter and staff did a great job. Again, like I mentioned earlier, the food wasnt bad, but not something to rave about.

I usually really like this place. Not today. I stopped in right after opening around 5:30 to get some take-out for my family. I had a delicious drink at the bar with friendly and competent bartenders. However, when I arrived home 20-30 minutes later, I was very disappointed that liquids (balsamic, yoghurts, dressings, sauces were not on the side and had been mixed up with salad, artichokes etc., which made everything so soggy, people did not eat it. And, this was after I had specifically asked for dressing, etc. on the side.
