Got an order of Shrimp Lo Mein to go today. When we returned home we noticed there wasnt any shrimp in the order. I called the restaurant and they informed me they would make a new order. Rather than drive from basically La Feria, I asked my brother who was on his way over to my house to pick it up for me. I informed them of this on the phone. When he arrived there, the manager accused us of lying then claimed that he "checked the cameras" and saw the cooks put shrimp in our order. Thats an outright lie. Next time rather than harassing a loyal customer, try and have some halfway decent customer service and comp a meal after YOUR mistake. A situation that could have been corrected so easily got blown up because of a complete lack of respect and absolutely no sense of customer service.

Great selections, more selections, decent and quiet restaurant.Not the greatest or worst.But not as good as House of China or Sun Palace since some of the selections have too much MSG.The ice cream bar has ice creams that come in cups instead of having to scoop ice cream making a mess.The sweet and sour chicken is crispy and deliciously well cooked.The waiters/waitresses are also nice and polite when it comes to service.More great things about this restaurant what House of China or Sun Palace doesnt have is Kung Pao Chicken, Rice and Lo Mein Combination, and egg drop soup.Also, a great place to eat if you want some time alone and enjoy eating quietly.Good place to eat!

Maybe the worst chinese food Ive ever had. Ordered the "Happy Family" and my wife ordered the "Seafood Sampler" dinner specials that include soup and salad. When they arrived, we honestly could not tell them apart. The seafood was hard and rubbery. The owner came over and after seeing it for herself, said she would not charge for THAT meal, but would charge for mine. I said OK. Mine was below average but edible. When the bill came, I asked what the extra charge was for, he said since your wife ate the 2 bites of soup, we charged her $4 for it. I couldnt believe it. The greediest move you could do adds insult to injury. NEVER GOING BACK.

This is based purely on my experience with the buffet. I understand it has a 4 Star rating, obviously for the food they serve made to order. The buffet reminds me of one of those small town Chinese buffets, where it thrives solely on the fact that it is the only Chinese restaurant in town. There is no volume, therefore the food sits. The quality of the buffet was glaringly lacking as well. I am a trucker, so I base a lot of my choices on ratings. This place fooled me this time. No second trip here for me. Specialize in either serving made to order food, or buffet, not both. Your customers deserve better.

The food was great havent been to a Chinese restaurant that was as good as this one. But reason I didnt give it a 5 star rating was the employees, the waitress that we got did not go once to see if everything was ok or if we needed a refill. My niece had to get a different waitress just very annoyed that they were just talking and doing nothing, also we asked for more napkins and they never went back to give us extra so basically we has to use the one napkin that had the utensils werewrapped in. They were really rude so no matter how good the food is the employees were the reason that made it a bad one.

My dad used to drive 1 way +/-25 miles to bring us dinner from here (20+ years ago).. Was GREAT then!! With the exception of when the owner had to leave for a while (relocated & left it to family & fought breast cancer & WON!!; but, food, service, etc wasnt the same standard); since then, its been WONDERFUL as ALWAYS!! Kim doesnt steer the helm as shes passed the boton; but, she still checks in weekly & I highly recommend!! Robert Boling

I will not comment on the rest of the menu items, as I only eat the sushi. Its amazing. Ive eaten sushi in 6 different countries, New York, LA and Miami; none of them held a candle to China Star. Its like nothing Ive ever tasted. The restaurant owner is always present, greeting customers and making sure her wait staff is doing a good job.

Food wasnt bad, but wasnt anything to brag about. We did really enjoy the sushi we ordered. It seemed very fresh. We also had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. Like I said, not bad, but not out of this world either. The décor and atmosphere was comfortable and the service was great. Would go back.

This is our go-to place for Chinese take-out in Harlingen, mostly because we love the service. The owner (who answers the telephone and provides take-out service) is incredibly warm and friendly and we are really glad to support the business. The food is what youd expect at an American Chinese restaurant!

This was some of the best food I have had here in town next to Texas Roadhouse. The restaurant was nice and quiet compared to anywhere else in this city. Could tell our food was made on demand and was out promptly. Service was also great. Will definitely be returning here again.

I went for the lunch buffet which was like $9.69. Pretty good deal in my opinion. Options are a little bit limited but its the typical Chinese food dishes which they tasted great. The place is clean and the staff is very nice. Overall a very good experience!

Enjoy the lunch buffet here. Lo mein is tasty along with the chicken teriyaki and fried wontons. The reason I dont give them a 5 is that one of my favorite dishes is General Tsaos chicken and theirs isnt very tasty

Lady at register is very nice, food is good made fresh. There is one lady that can be rude and speak chinese and cant help to wonder what she is saying, other than that its great.
