I only eat at 3 Chinese restaurants in Corpus Christi: Hua Tai, Mao Tai, and Bamboo Garden. Hua Tai is known for treating their staff like crap. I have several friends who all worked there and all left unhappy. However, the food is SOOO GOOD! I highly recommend either Sesame Chicken or Combination Curry (my personal favorite!) They are totally overpriced, so I never eat there unless someone else is paying, but man, when you taste the food, you know where the extra money went. The portions are pretty tiny, though. Also, theyre pretty stingy with their sodas. If you order a soda, drink it slowly because you have to fight tooth and nail to get a refill. Several times Ive gone, and the people Im with have ordered sodas. When they asked for a refill, the waiter or waitress will disappear for a minute, then come back, and say that the Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, whatever, is out, and theyll recommend tea or water. Or theyll say that the taps are being changed. One friend of mine told the waiter, "Ok, Ill wait until the tap is changed out." 20 minutes later he still didnt have a single soda refill! It can get pretty ridiculous. All in all, I would give the food an A+ because Ive never had bad food there, not once. Its always delicious. Ridiculous portion sizes get a B-. The servers are always so polite and sweet and will even put your leftovers in a box for you. I wish the owners would treat them better. So the servers get an A+, but not the owners. Having worked for very stingy people several times in my life, their actions dont surprise me, but they never stop irritating me.

It was my first time trying this place and the last time. The little B in the front gave me attitude while I was paying for my takeout and when I got home I saw that they dont believe in fried rice there was none on the plates just a bunch of vegetables and the Mongolian beef didnt come with the noodles I asked for. So when I called she wanted to be even more of a B and tell me theres nothing she can do about it and even wanted to be sarcastic and say she doesnt exchange food like a clothing store smh.. Very unprofessional, food is nasty, and they obviously dont care about their customers because she didnt try to make the situation right. Please dont waste your money on this place.

I come to this restaurant 3x a week spending about $50 each time. I love there food. Sometimes they forget our rice and I never complained. This time my kids got sweet and sour chicken and it was cold and soggy and tasted microwaveable. I let the owners know and she proceeded to immediately argue with me. She denied what we thought about the food never apologized and did not want to give me another order. I tried arguing quietly cause she got loud. I managed to get our meals back in combo rice. But honestly the behavior of the owners have completely turned me off from ever returning! Its sad that business owners could not be professional about it.

WORTHLESS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Manager is rude, inconsiderate and condescending. Trying to talk to her is pointless as she will call you retarded. They get your to-go order wrong and when you call to complain they say they cant do anything for you. They will tell you its not their fault you spent your money there. She will hang up on you and when you call back 30 seconds later they will say she is not available. If she spent 1% of her being on customer service that she spends on her vanity trying to look young she would at least know how to smile. That seems far fetched though.

My favorite Chinese Restaurant in Corpus Christ is Hua Tai. The food is very good, I have never gotten a bad plate. I love the chop soy combination in white sauce no msg. Service is a hit or miss; I have gotten really bad service and have gotten good service and in between. They have a high turnover rate, the wait staff is always changing. Sometimes, its hard to understand what some of the waiters say because of their heavy accent. Bottom line food is very good. Very good lunch prices Mon-Sat. (This is the only time I go.)

The owner is a bit rude, does not have absolutely no customer service skills at all. If you get a flat Coke they will not switch it to a tea without paying for it. They DO NOT care for making it right. The lunch specials are great but if you receive bad food to bad your loss because it will definitely not be theirs.

Horrible customer service, lady was rude. The lady upfront looked incoherent and irate at my amazing nice hair. I will never go back, I can still hear the lady raucous voice piercing my ear drums and now i have probably lost 11% of my hearing. I should of just google Chinese recipe for dinner.

Worse Chinese food ever. The fried rice was old and only had egg no veggies in it. My house lo mein noodle were hard and gross and the egg roll for some reason tasted like cinammon in it like the fry everything in the same oil.

Came last Friday and waitress looked upset. Here a week later and she looks like shes upset again today. We got our soup without our drinks. Very busy and good food but not very good service. Food 5 stars, service 3.

The extra spicy tofu and vegetables is so good that youll start ordering it without the vegetables! Its in the preparation of the tofu. Perfect!
