We were very disappointed. I called during the lunch hour to see if they had happy hour specials. I was told, yes from 4:30 - 6:30. So, we arrived at 5:45 (my husband, me and my 4 year old). The server indicated there were no drink specials so we ordered a dirty martini (he had never heard of blue cheese olives) and a Sapporo beer for my husband and orange juice for my daughter (no milk). We also ordered edamame for appetizers. Then, when it was time to order (a few minutes before 6:00), I asked the server if there were any sushi/roll specials. He responded "not that I know of" and I told him that I was told they had sushi/roll specials until 6:30. A few minutes later, he brought us a menu (happy hour, by the way) that said happy hour ended at 6:00. It was 6:04 and I noticed that 2 of the rolls we had planned to order were 1/2 off, I asked if they would honor this being that it was 4 minutes later. He left, talked to someone of authority and we were told "NO, happy hour ends at 6pm". Well, needless to say, we were very upset, told him we would take the bill for what we ordered but were leaving. We paid ($12.50 for the martini, $6.50 for the beer and $5.00 for edamame and $4 for orange juice). We were very unsatisfied. Lets get real people, this is a sushi restaurant in Frisco Square (where suburban families are bountiful), not Shops of Legacy or Uptown. They cant survive charging $12.50 for a martini (this is not a Jaspers atmosphere) and letting families walk out because they wont honor a 4 minute delay in ordering food. (remind you that we sat down at 5:45). We will not be returning!!!

Without a doubt, my experience at Sake Toro was the worst dining experience Ive had in recent memory. The service was poor from the beginning with a waitress that did not seem to be very attentive (even though it was a VERY slow night). I asked for my sushi order to come out when my friends entree came did. Instead, they brought out all of the appetizers and her entree at once with no sign of my sushi order. I was finally able to find my waitress and asked the status (at least 10 to 15 minutes AFTER the other food was brought out) and was told that they were about to start working on it. Keep in mind that there were a total of three sushi chefs working...and there were three tables that had patrons. There was no reason that the food should have been this delayed. When it was apparent that they were not working on it I had them cancel the order only to have the sushi chef scream in outrage that I was doing so (but by this time my friend had already finished her entree). It took another 10 minutes to get my check...never once did the manager approach me or ask me about the concern. Save your time, money and patience...there are far better sushi restaurants in Frisco.

We eat there about once a week. KC is pretty good about helping you pick something youll like. Ahi Poki salad is very spicy but full of flavor, very tasty. Ex boyfriend roll is good for & would be a safe bet for somebody who thinks a California roll is the only thing they can do when it comes to sushi. There are cooked & non cooked items, pregnant women can have the cooked items & it will satisfy the sushi craving (its safe for preggers to eat cooked rolls). LOVE this place...cant say enough good things about it! Service can be slow sometimes (like friday/saturday night) because its becoming so popular now, but its a mom & pop ran place...they have a passion for great sushi. Excellent place for sushi virgins/beginners...great for picky sushi eaters as well. I will not eat anybody elses sushi now. KC has ruined me! LOL

I have indulged in sushi haunts like Tao in Vegas, or Sushi Samba in Miami, and the list goes on an on, from New York to California, so imagine my surprise, when we stop in for sushi at local Frisco "Sake Toro." When they say "the secret is in the sauce," it was penned for places like this. A California Roll is still just a california roll, no matter where you go, unless of course, you go to Sake Toro. The top 3 menu recommendations, which you will not find anywhere else in the world, trust me, Ive tried, (which will also go into my next article on food recs), are: 1. Screaming Orgasm, (ahi tuna, in a "secret" ginger sauce, 2. Ahi Poke, (a very spicy ahi tuna salad with seaweed and peppers, and 3. Something Wrong, (which is really not a good name for this roll, because it is EVERYTHING RIGHT).

Great sushi. If youre a sashimi fan, you need to try this place. They also have great appetizers and killer drinks. Good variety of hot and cold sake, and great drinks for the ladies as well. Try the cherry blossom or the spicy edaname for an app and if youre into sashimi you have to try the yellowtail. Also hard to go wrong with all the kinky rolls. The location is awesome on the Frisco square, where they often have events and/or live music on Friday nights. Weve been probably 20 times and only had one issue one time with some miss-counted drinks for a large party the owner didnt want to take off our bill. So the theme is all and all its a great place to eat, just be prepared for a confrontation if you disagree with the staff on something. IE (the customer is NOT always right). Good food.

They have good sushi but we stood at the front of the restaurant for about 10 minutes and no one greated us , once we got greeted we asked to sit at the bar, the lady walked us near the bar then walked away to do somthing else leaving us standing in the middle of the floor. So we sat our selfs and waited another 6 ish mins for her to come back to ask if we wanted somthing to drink and we said water that took a bit of time to get and she then came back 15 mins to take out order but acted like she had wayyy better things to do.Food came out at different times. Never saw her again untill he had to ask for the check. Even tho my drink was empty half way through the experience. Good food just poor service:(

This is *not* fast food folks. The chef gave us some personal attention at the sushi bar during a slow lunch, and both my friend (who has a lot of experience with sushi) and myself were treated to some incredibly well prepared (and in some cases uniquely prepared) sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The "common" rolls are more traditionally prepared, the flavors are far more subtle than you might be used to, but the quality is quite good, and the prices are on par with other sushi restaurants in the area. If you have a little time, and are craving some excellently prepared food, definitely give this place a try.

Let me start by saying we have been coming here for more than a year and we frequent the restaurant multiple times a month. Service has always been on the slow side when picking up our to go orders, but it was worth the wait for the delicious sushi. Tonight has ended all that. I waited for 1.5 hours for my to go order and was only offered a few dollars off for my troubles. I told them I was not happy with that and was basically told that was all they could do. Very disappointing.....Dont expect any level of customer service from Sake Toro
