this place could have been fantastic. Our experience was very disappointing.... we did make reservations - and specifically asked for a time with a quieter atmosphere, our reservations were set for 8. it had rained, they were busy, we didnt mind waiting. that wasnt the problem....where we were seated was between 2 large birthday parties...the noise level was so high, it was physically painful. we couldnt hear our waitress, she couldnt hear us either. 3 times i told a staff member that it was too loud, and of course we got apologies (we were there 2 hours, We would have GLADLY moved to a different table at any point in our time there, so that we could at least talk with the couple that we invited there)....we attempted to converse with our guests, but sadly couldnt hear them, so we sat and smiled at each other for the whole time we were there.... there was no way to have conversation. we ordered an appetizer and a bottle of wine...30 minutes for the appetizer to get out..we ordered a 2nd bottle of wine later, with the main course. we ordered one of the specials for the day, veal. it was tough to cut, and a bit like chewing on gristle. Yes, I sent it back....and got another entree.... they were kind enough to replace the veal, didnt charge for the replacement entree, gave us a single serving of tiramisu on the house.....after leaving we found we had been charged for a total of 3 bottles of wine when we only had 2 (our guests were charged for a bottle of wine, and we were charged for 2) disappointing.

The food was outstanding! I had the Veal Involtini and could have licked the plate. It was amazing. You definitely dont want to go if you are in a hurry. It is a place where they take their time. Its the place to go to spend two plus hours for dinner...enjoy your company. The Caprese Insalata lacked a little flavor, but the Mediterranean salad was divine. Next time Id skip on the dessert, it was good, but Ive had better. The presentation was divine and definitely worth the wait. From reading the other reviews, the staff isnt overly friendly, but they werent rude...they did their job. We chose to eat outside on the patio and it was a really nice atmosphere. The inside was a little more formal feeling and would be nice too. Over all, Id definitely recommend this restaurant for the food. You can tell it was made right there for you. Its in a very inconspicuous location so it is very intimate over all and I felt transformed from being in the middle of Fort Worth. The first thing we noticed was the scent of the honeysuckle, however, Im sure that would be dependent on the season. I would highly recommend it and be sure to call for reservations.

**Update** We now 3 years later have returned. It was excellent again. The Shrimp with sundried risotto was very good. And my stuffed Chicken Marsala also very good. BUT the Crab Cake with Lemon Aolli sauce was awesome! The Lobster Bisque was still very good. We walked in on a Sat. and seated. Ive updated my score to 5 stars. We went at 6pm on a Sat. When we arrived there were only 2 tables. There are comments here about it being very loud in the restarurant. Well towards the end of our meal, Im not making this up, a sports team for Kansas U came in 30+. And even with the place full of young adults we could have a conversation. But it was somewhat loud. We had the Lobster Bisque soup and Mediterranian salad. Both were very good. Our main courses consisted of the Smoked Chicken pasta and Chicken Parmigiana. The Chicken Parmigiana was good but the Smoked Chicken pasta was, though very rich, was excellent. We then finished with coffee and a cut of Tiramisu. It was also excellent. We plan on going back.

Too many tables. Hard to be seated, tried several routes. Remove two tables-add a few bucks to entrees. Too noisy--shiny walls, hardwood floors, sheer drapes reflect noise. Needs tapestries on walls, velvet dividing curtains to absorb sound.. Supermarket sliced, cold white bread--bad start. Replace with crunchy, hot, italian bread or even breadsticks. Appetizers--stacking up two mushrooms doesnt make it better. Mediterranena salad--What feta cheese? Where were green olives?. Entree-fettucine with seafood. Should add seafood just before serving..whole thing tasted fishy. Scallops undercooked. Parmesan? Stuffed chicken. Flavor good, texture of whole entree too similar..Polenta mushy, stuffing mushy, chicken undercooked, bloody at bone. Wait-service mediocre. Had to ask twice for silver replacement after they took it away. Couldnt describe entrees. Raised on authentic, Italian food. North and South. This basically northern style could be great with some work.

If youre looking for a private home-style Italian place look no further. Piola restaurant provides a very unique dining experience that you wouldnt expect coming from its subtle location in the Monticello suburban area. The entire restaurant carries the appearance that it was once a house in the neighborhood, just like all of its next door counterparts. The wait staff checked on me frequently whilst offering wine, appetizers, and specials of the day. The wine list had an acceptable variety and the main course selections were diverse enough to please the health conscious individual like myself. I tried the seared salmon with vegetables, which was cooked to perfection. Everything I ordered arrived promptly and at the perfect temperature. Well done Piola!

I love the delectable, continental menu offerings; the courteous and accommodating staff (even when you show up without reservations); and the romantic setting at Piolas. Ive been there many, many times over the past few years and I have never been disappointed! There is also a private patio with tables in back of the restaurant that is very romantic, especially when the weather is moderate. It can get a bit loud inside, because of the hardwood floors, especially if there other diners who are drinking too much of the excellent wine. So, the patio offers a quiet retreat. The restaurant is located on a quiet street in a remodeled house. It can be difficult to find the first time you are looking for it, but the privacy of the location keeps it special.

Great local Italian restaurant set in a 1920s home near Camp Bowie. Perfect for romantic dinners or anniversaries (have not been here for lunch). They also have a patio for events. Food was very good. We had chicken piccata and parmigiano with a side of asparagus risotto. All of it was flavorful and authentic. The only reason I didnt give five stars is the wait time. This was our anniversary dinner (made a reservation) we still waited 30-45 minutes. Although I could be mistaken, it seemed that there was some confusion over our reservation, as though it didnt actually make it into the book. They were incredibly busy which might have contributed to that, and nobody was in a rush to leave. I cant say I blame them. We will definitely be back.

My husband wanted to surprise me with a romantic Italian dinner and saw the wonderful reviews on Piola. The place is decorated very nice but the romance was lost because it was so loud. I could hardly hear what my husband was saying sitting next to me. The service was friendly and the food was really good but surprisingly cumulative. It bill quickly went over $100 after two glasses of wine, two bowls of bisque, two entrees and a shared desert. If you want lively atmosphere with good food, this is the place. However if your looking for a romantic evening to take a date or partner, then keep looking.
