Cannot give any stars. This was the worst service and food Ive encountered. My friend and I went for lunch today and should have turned around and left the moment we walked in and were greeted by an unprofessionally dressed and hygienically challenged hostess but we both remember the glory days of salernos and wanted to enjoy a glass of wine and some good Italian food. Ordered a house Cabernet, its $6 on Thursday according to the table special board. Also ordered soup of the day, tomato basil soup and 2 appetizers of crab cakes and calamari. The soup cane out, spilled and dripping and te waiter set it front of me without any regard, soup everywhere. The calamari was discusting and way over cooked. Flagged the waiter down and told him that we wanted the food gathered and our check for the glasses of wine. We didnt eat anything but attempted to eat a bite of calamari. We get our check with all the food on it, umm no. Sent the check back we got it back with the soup charge and 2 full price wines. Umm.. no again. The third time the waiter threw the check on the table. At least this time it was correct.

My husband and I went to Salernos with my parents to celebrate my birthday. We had never been before, but had read only positive reviews about it, so decided to try it out. The food was really great, especially the chicken parm and eggplant parm. The chicken marsala was good, but had a very strong wine taste, much more than any other marsala I had had before. The chicken parm and marsala both came with a little extra side as well (besides the bread and salad). Most important was the bread and dipping sauce!! We marveled over the dipping sauce, trying to figure it out so we could make it at home. It is the most wonderful tasting dipping sauce any of us have ever had. The garlic bread was great, but the sauce put it over the top. Very generous portions and decent prices as well. We will definitely be dining at this little gem again.

My search for decent Italian food in the Flower Mound/Highland Village area continues after trying Salernos. Food was OK, chicken parm had more sauce than chicken, my wifes egg plant was OK but she did like the garlic pasta that came with it. Big thing I absolutely hated was tomatoes in a ceasar salad, I order ceasar salads because I hate tomatoes so it really drives me crazy when they are stuck in a ceasar. Also, would be nice if the chicken alfredo said it was covered in mushrooms and tomatoes on the menu, Im sure if you like mushrooms and tomatoes its not a problem but they arent typically on an alfredo dish so a person wouldnt think to ask for the dish without them. Pretty pricey too, got to say, not one of my favorites

This has to be one of the worse dinners I have ever had. Went there last night with relatives from out of town. We have lived in Flower Mound for 4 years but never have tried it. Now I see why. The pasta dishes were just simply horrible. The sauce was as thin as water for everyones dishes. They just rolled off the pasta, so your left with tasteless pasta. When we informed the waitress, she just simply said sorry, handed us an overpriced bill and walked away. Nothing else. Save your time and your money, this was really bad! If this is anyones idea of Italian food, youve obviously never ate a real Italian dinner!

My Husband and I ate here for our anniversary and I was not impressed at all! I got the Cannelloni, which is usually love and it was just weird and very dry, not good at all! My husband got the Chicken Lillian and did not like that either, way to much lemon and very oily. Needless to say we left hungry because we just couldnt eat it! After arriving home both my husband and I were severly sick! My stomach hurt so bad I almost went to the hospital and my husband was unable to go to work the next day because we was so sick. I will never eat at this restaurant again and I would advise everyone else not to eat here either!

Ive been going to Salernos for several years now, and just cant say enough good things about it. The staff and atmosphere are only out-shined by the delicious food. Theyve got a wonderful little bar if you just want to grab a quick bite, or nice quaint tables if youd prefer to have a seat and be waited on. Some of their best dishes arent on the menus but instead are chef favorites, so be sure to ask for recommendations! My favorite is their Steak Salerno appetizer (not on the menu, but always available) and lobster bisque. Just fantastic. This is a great family-run restaurant that Ill always return to.

My husband and I have been going here since we moved to the area in 1996 and it has been an old favorite. The lasagna, veal piccata, pecan snapper, and the chicken Lillian are all very good. Fridays cream of tomato soup is wonderful. Outside of the lasagna and the eggplant parm some of their pasta dishes can be kind of bland at times. Not a fan of their garlic bread...too dry...I like my garlic bread rich, warm, fresh. Many of the wait staff, and host/hostess have been here for a long time. Nice people and the owner, Mike, is a great guy. Overall, a good choice for affordable Italian.

First Time everything was very good and service was excellent. Second Time its not like I even came to the same place I ordered a sub and the meat was literally like rubber a steak knife and a industrial strength fork is what it took to cut it horrendous and my friend had the pasta which usually comes with sauce however this time it was more like a ketchup packet worth just really did not like how the meat was cooked horrible and the bread was like stone idk how this happened took my friends here after my first great experience here and raved about it to them I looked stupid.

Been going here since I was 6 yrs old. Mike and his family have run this restaurant and the Grotto since inception. A true family restaraunt. Chicken Moggia Salad is to die for... that is right I said a salad is to die for. It is all homeade. Including all their signature dressings. if you like mass produced food where everything is the same, and by same i mean looks the same, tastes the same - all as cardboard with tons of preservatives etc - then dont come here. Its real home-ade food. Like mama makes

WHAT in the world has happened to Salernos? Horrible experience. I hadnt eaten there in a few years so we thought we would try it for lunch. Big Mistake. BIG. Sent our food back, asked for the tab - 2 glasses of wine -. Took 3 trys to get the correct tab. First the whole order was billed. Then it was 2 glasses of wine and a salad. Then finally the wine, but not the Thursday wine special! Our waiter should have been fired on the spot. So Bye Bye Salernos -forever this time!
