There are dozens of other Ethiopian restaurants within walking distance from here - any of which would easily be a better experience for you. Food? Overpriced and not nearly as appetizing as the price would suggest. Ordered a ~$10 plate with water and, really, I couldve done better heading over to the Chik-Fil-A or Nandos a few blocks over. I didnt order any special drink and just asked for water. They gave me tap water. Tap water. Any other place would have given purified water. Lesaacs? Tap. That experience was punctuated when it finally came to pay for the "food" they served. I gave them a $10 and waited for my change. I waited for a couple minutes after paying, saying nothing since I assumed they could handle at least that. Eventually, one of the women asked me to leave. Yeah, in short, you can do better than this place. Silver Spring is a large city with many other small restaurants more deserving of your money than this place.

Good food horrible horrible service. Used to come once a month or so for the food as bad as the service has got lately. But last night was it, took 40 minutes to bring an appetizer, one of the orders was lost and when we asked we got scolded by the waitress. They didnt come ones to ask how we are doing and offer any condiments we had to beg them to come from the bar area and give us some. May be we can tolerate bad service but this was too much, when we left we had decided we will never come back. The sad thing is the place has great cooks but the serving stuff is so bad, dont know what the owners are thinking. All the servicing stuff almost always huddles up around the bar laughing and talking to the customers at the bar, guess they make more tips at the bar but I would have thought the customer in the dinning area also matter. So if you go either sit at the bar or come prepared for a good food served really really bad..

Would give 1/2 Star! I adore Ethiopian cuisine but this was a big mistake. Biggest question concerns CLEANLINESS. Saw several people behind the bar just rinsing glasses out for reuse. Thought restaurants had to use soap and high temperature water to guarantee cleanliness? If this was in front of guests-then whats going on behind the scenes? POOR SERVICE! You can ASK but you may/may not receive. Shouldnt need to ask for napkins. Ice water--youll get tap water in perhaps not so clean glass. The food was a C minus at best. Restaurants unresponsive to complaints. I so miss the Red Sea that was in Adams Morgan, DC. Still searching for great Ethiopian restaurant.

Wow. What a great surprise. This is the best Ethiopian food I have ever tasted. The restaurant interior is warm and inviting as are the staff. I came for lunch, starved after a long bike ride and wasnt disappointed. I had the Engurguro which was amazing. The beef was cooked perfectly through - a bit of char for a great crunch but succulent on the inside. The prices are a bit high - especially for lunch - but if I had split it with someone else it would have been reasonable. A majority Ethiopian clientele which is a great sign that the food is good and supported by the local community. Ill be back - for the Engurguro and to watch the World Cup at the bar!

The service was terrible; I arrived with friends, disappointed to learn that they would not accept my Groupon. Still I decided to stay and eat, it took forever for someone to come take our order, then even longer for the food to arrive. The worst wait was for our check, it took forever to get to us and they never came to collect it. I had to walk over to the bar area to hand my form of payment to an employee. Then they returned receipts without a pen to sign, thankfully I had a pen on me, I signed and left immediately. It was even more ridiculous since it wasnt very busy inside. The food was sub-par at best; and the bathroom, the only one, was unclean.

I went there once a week at least. March 1, I brought my friend to show how Ethiopia resturant r good and food as well. They were to much waiters and they dont even know how to smile to get tip. I felt shame. We paid and went outside to go home one of the waiter Came and side " u dont left enough money give me my money " we said we already paid and scared about her disrespect. The truth was her co worker took money. I think she is training we saw a lot of mistakes. U guys better train before they be come waiters. U guys loosing money. My comment is our people is dont go there!!! I will never ever go !!!!

The food is so so & takes long to get ready. The place is not so clean I saw insects flying around I also noticed waitresses rinsing glasses rather than steaming or cleaning them properly. The restroom smells and not cleaned properly. I would have given zero star but the waitresses are very welcoming and personable thats why I gave 1 star. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!

The food was decent but waited an hour and fifteen minutes for food. I thought it was unacceptable and spoiled the whole experience I had at this place. The service is very poor and inattentive. The waitresses seem to ignore everybody else but spend excessive time chatting with their acquaintances. It was very unusual experience for me.....

Here is the worst place Ive been to in terms of service. 1 star because the food was good but their service is horrible. They prefer serving their people quickly than persons. My food took 45 minutes. Also they served 3 tables before ours whilst we ordered before them.

Food is superb, location is amazing but the wait to be noticed by the staff and get a menu is something else. So if you plan to eat here, plan ahead and know youll be spending a lot of time between arriving, getting a menu, ordering and actually getting your food.

It was not that good for the price. It was to expensive and it was messy I really wasnt satisfied. We arrived before 3 group of people but they were served first. AND we had to wait for 55 min to get our food. I didnt like the service I wouldnt recommend it

Food was generally good + the waitress was kind and personable. Its just they would never have come out to serve the table outside, as inside everyone was watching a soccer match. Once we went inside asking for attention, we were served.

Really testy food and nice atmosphere. I dont frequent Ethiopian restaurants but this place sure can give you good service for your money. Worth checking out. Try the Shifinfin if you happen to be there. You will love it.

The Doro Wat was exactly what I was craving! We also ordered a veggie house platter & I ate long after I was full - I couldnt stop myself. We will definitely stop by again the next time we are in Silver Spring.
