During a trip to Dallas to visit a brother in the VA Hospital, he suggested Sabor A La Mexicana as a good place to get mexican food. In fact he was adamant to the point of fixation about it, so the three of us decided to give it a try. In particular, it was the carne asada that was his effusive obsession. "Its behind the Red Lobster." He entreated. So, on leaving the hospital, the three of us set out to find the illusive ethnic eatery behind the Red Lobster, to avail ourselves of the culinary delights so heartily recommended. The restaurant was built into the front of an old repurposed mall, so there was plenty of parking. We learned later that the rest of the mall had been converted into a taco factory. On the outside there was a patio dining area as well as several mexican motif sculptures made from scrap metal. The thing that gave us a little apprehension about eating there, however, was that there seemed to be very few patrons. One would expect an excellent eatery to be smothered in clientele. Then theres the fear that low volume might mean problems with inventory control and diminished quality due to a lack of freshness. We almost turned around and left, but the insistence of our brother was still fresh in our minds and we went in. Our waiter was quick and polite. The dining area was very clean and the food preparation was easily visible behind a half wall partition. The bathroom sparkled. Everything was well lit without being harsh. There was one other table occupied in the restaurant, but it soon became apparent that we were in fact the only patrons at the time. It was Wednesday after 8 pm, so that may have been a factor. We all ordered margaritas. They were served in mugs. I prefer goblets. But, they were very good. Although almost all mexican food places serve picante sauce and chips as appetizers, sometimes it is really good and sometimes not so much. This time the picante sauce and chips were excellent in flavor and, though not hot enough for my palate, had enough capsaicin to notice. Yes, I ordered the carne asada and it was hot on arrival and deliciously grilled with a slight hint of char. It needed no seasoning. It was not as tender as my brother had claimed, but it was tender enough that I enjoyed it immensely. It was served as a steak together with refried beans, guacamole, rice and a scoop of pico de gallo. All were fresh and flavorful. Also worthy of note is that the rice, in addition to being tasty and not bland, was uniformly soft and a delight to eat. My two brothers dining with me were equally pleased with their meal. Although one of them is prone to criticize anything at the drop of a hat, he had zero complaints with his meal. In fact we were all so grateful for the good food and attention to detail that we left a 15% tip. If you love mexican food, I highly recommend that you give Sabor A La Mexicana Restaurant a try. You wont be disappointed!

Cant believe weve lived 5 minutes from this place for a year and never knew about it. Easy to understand how we missed it, though, since its inside an enormous building. They are primarily a tortilla factory, so unless you know to look for the restaurant, youd never think one existed. Except for some of the finer places in Dallas, there is no better Mexican food around here in my opinion. All the food was delicious, but the charro beans were the absolute best Ive ever had, and deserve some recognition of their own. The waitstaff was very attentive and courteous. We will be back....a lot...

The prices are so insane. There were 3 of us and we paid $69, like we paid less the day we went to Olive Garden and we had way more food there. I got a flauta plate and it was $12.99 for 3 flavorless flautas. We got nachos for an appetizer which everywhere else weve been is a plate full of nachos, i mean, they were delicious but that is pretty much the same everywhere you go as long as the cheese isnt gross, but here they were $9.99 for like 8 nachos. what???? we left thinking, "we are never coming back ever again." I give our waitress five stars, though, she was nice and attentive.

My wife had the fajitas and they were ok. Its hard to mess up fajitas. I had enchiladas and they were just ok as well. Weve both had better at many other restaurants. But the real issue is that my wife ordered the lunch fajitas and pointed at them on the menu but apparently they brought her the dinner size. We found this out when we were brought the bill(the portions looked like a lunch size as well). They refused to adjust the bill. We wont be going back.

Ordered the shrimp tacos and received brine shrimp sized shrimp in my tacos. The side of rice looked nice, however the taco "topings" looked like a salad. It was one large piece of lettuce with a sprinkle of cheese on top. Disgraceful taco dish, they should be ashamed serving a dish like that. Maybe the other dishes are ok? Idk I returned the dish, paid for the guacamole (not bad BTW) and went to Chipotle.

Absolutely loved it! My wife and went there for our 19th wedding anniversary and couldnt believe that we had not discovered this little gem before now. Beef and chicken fajitas were tender and had a wonderful flavor. Boracho beans are well seasoned with bits of meat. Hot sauce is really good. Fast and friendly service. Good old fashioned family business.

I dont ever give a 5 star review. This Mexican Restaurant has met and surpass all of my expectations. The service was outstanding. Our waiter Noe gave us a 5 start restaurant service. Our main focus was the food and both plates me and wife order were stupendous. Our highest respect to the Chef. Great place and we will definitely be coming back.

Slow service. Watery hot sauce. Dont sell tortillas after 4pm, which is illogical since most people dont get off work until 5pm. If you do not speak Spanish do not come here. Wait staff barely understands English. Good thing me and my family speaks Spanish. There is only one waitress for the entire establishment during our visit.

I should have known when this place was full of non-Mexicans. The food was flavorless, if you like your food super-mild or have picky kids they may like it. Otherwise go to one of the other great Mexican places close by.

We like going here on Sundays because thete isnt a wait line. There food is fair, comes out on a timely manner. Cant say I have ever gone on another day other than on a Sunday. Over all is a good place for Mexican food.

Contrary to what a previous reviewer wrote about is not being the best Tex Mex, it is certainly in my top three. Very consistent quality (we eat there once a week). Very attentive waitstaff.

Second time being here. Food is well made and service is pretty good. Only thing that knocks off a star is the price. Its a little on the expensive side for mexican food.
